The natural environment plays an important role not only in ecological sustainability, but also in human health. Growing attention has been focused on the health benefits of natural environments with increasing scientific evidence in this field. Urban green space has positive effects on individual and community health; thus, it is considered as social infrastructure. The natural environment promotes mental health by relieving psychological stress and depression. Physical health can be improved by experiencing nature, which reduces physiological stress and boosts the immune system. Several international initiatives have been undertaken to improve our understanding in this field and to utilize these benefits for health promotion. Interdisciplinary approaches are needed to promote human health through the natural environment in the fields of science, education, planning and policy.
Due to global warming, various natural disasters such as floods and droughts are increasing. If we can detect the possibility of natural disasters in advance, we can prevent massive damages caused by natural disasters. Recent advances in visual sensor technologies have enabled remote monitoring of a variety of natural environments, including lakes, rivers, and shores. In this paper, we propose a method to segment an image obtained from video sensor networks into regions in order to monitor the environment effectively. In the proposed method, we first partition the image into superpixels and model the connections between superpixels as a graph. Then, initial seeds for each region are set by using the prior information, and the initial seeds are expanded to form regions using agglomerative clustering. Experimental results show that the proposed method extracts the regions from natural environment images easily and accurately.

One of the important functions of skin is protection from harmful environments. There has been many studies for keeping skin healthy from wrinkling and pigmenting. Skin wrinkle and pigmentation could be caused by the disruption of connective tissue, free radicals and ultraviolet irradiation. In this study, the extracts obtained from 25 kinds of medicinal plants were screened. All the extracts examined were obtained by using 70% (v/v) ethanol at $60^{\circ}C$. (omitted)
As longevity of human-beings is extended and the population of aged people increases, diverse issues related with the aged people are presented. The neighborhood space for the aged people is required to be designed based upon the understanding of such difficulties of the elderly and the public outdoor environment is an important environmental resource that can enhance the quality of life and promote the health of the elderly in underprivileged area without burdening them economically. This study aims to research the daily life of the elderly in underprivileged urban area and their utilization styles of outdoor environments in order to find out the push factors and pull factors that induce the aged people to use the outdoor environments. For this purpose, this study carried out an interview survey upon 69 elderly residents and surveyed on 363 elderly residents of low income class who are aged 60 and over and living in decaying area in Jeonju. For the analysis of the collected data, a qualitative and a quantitative analysis were accomplished. As results of study, the elderly in underprivileged area use such outdoor environments as resting facilities, exercise equipment, parks, farming gardens and waterfronts, and the push factors for them to use the outdoor environments were sordid indoor spaces, sense of isolation or loneliness, and the desire for maintaining good health. And the pull factors for them to use the outdoor environments were natural factors, opportunities for social interactions, space for exercise. The obstacles that hinder the elderly in using outdoor environments were the bad health of the elderly, lack of facilities, accessibility and weather conditions. Thus, the results of this study are expected to provide basic data for designing the outdoor environments to promote the health of the elderly in urban underprivileged area and to relieve the burdensome problems related with ageing societies.

Growing threats from environments and natural disasters cause information systems to suspend the operation of business. To assure the continuity of business, information systems should not halt in the emergency. This paper suggests an evaluation method for importance of information systems and verifies the method in a real organization. The results to the study can be utilized for establishing business continuity of organizations.
The Electrical Resistance Probe of carbon steel and weight loss coupons were exposed in atmosphere and in the lake water of Hanoi. The comparison of data received by two methods after one year exposure was presented. The correspondence of the data of these methods on the exposure time in both environments showed a capacity of using Electrical Resistance Probe in Vietnamese natural corrosion testing of Carbon steel.
The main focus when developing software is to improve the reliability and stability of a software system. We are enjoying a very comfortable life thanks to modern civilization, however, comfort is not guaranteed to us. Once software systems are introduced, the software systems used in the field environments are the same as or close to those used in the development-testing environment; however, the systems may be used in many different locations. Development of software system is a difficult and complex process. Generally, existing software reliability models are applied to software testing data and then used to make predictions on the software failures and reliability in the field. In this paper, we present an improved exponential NHPP software reliability model in different development environments, and examine the goodness-of-fit of improved exponential model and other model based on two datasets. The results show that the proposed model fits significantly better than other NHPP software reliability model.
Urban sound environments consists of various sound sources such as traffic noise, sounds of people and natural sounds affecting the perception of soundscape in a place. However, noise maps based on sound pressure levels could not distinguish different sound sources and limited to represent perception of acoustic environments. Accordingly, soundscape map based on perception of sounds is necessary to provide useful information for the description of the acoustic environment. Therefore, the aims of this study are to examine soundscape perception in different urban contexts including commercial, office, park and residential spaces and to suggest a method for soundscape maps using GIS techniques. Soundscape perceptions and physical characteristics of acoustic environments at various urban contexts were obtained from surveys and acoustic measurements, respectively. The results show that dominant factors affecting soundscape perceptions were different in urban contexts and spatial variations of urban soundscape are closely related to various urban contexts.
Korea's natural parks are managed by dividing them into four use districts: nature preservation district, natural environment district, cultural heritage district, and park village district within the park under the goal of 'conservation and sustainable use of natural parks'. However, the use districts divided in this way are designated by reflecting the results derived from the simple drawing overlapping method, and there is a limit in that objective and scientific evidence for this is insufficient. In addition, in Taeanhaean National Park, the case of this study, only a very small area of less than 1% of the nature preservation district is designated, and the natural environment district that serves as a buffer space is designated on an excessively wide scale, making it difficult to efficiently manage the national park. Therefore, the use district is not fulfilling its role. In this study, the purpose of this study was to present a method for analyzing the spatial characteristics of natural parks using environmental indicators and unsupervised learning analysis methods to set the use districts of natural parks. In this study, evaluation indicators that can evaluate the natural and human environments were derived, and the distribution patterns for each indicator were analyzed. Afterwards, by applying Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis, one of the unsupervised learning analysis methods, districts with similar characteristics were derived in Taeanhaean National Park, and the characteristics of each district were analyzed. As a result of the study, 7 districts with different characteristics were derived in Taeanhaean National Park, and by examining the contribution of each indicator together, it was possible to reveal that each district had different representative characteristics even though it was an adjacent area. This study evaluated natural parks by comprehensively considering the indicators of the natural and human environments. In addition, the SOM method used in the study is meaningful in that it can provide scientific and objective grounds for the existing zoning and apply it to the management plan.
According to the increases the standard of living of the people, requirements for building environments are also being diversified. The fungus that occurred the building is not good the health of occupants as well as undermine the value of the building. However, chemical antimicrobial agent contain ingredients harmful to human body and it has an impact on indoor air quality. Therefore, the use of natural antimicrobial material is strongly required. In this study, the fungal reproductive inhibit capacity was evaluated by using mortars with natural antimicrobial material.
