The traditional Japanese agricultural landscape, In which a set of varied land-use patches functions as a sustainable ecosystem landscape unit, not only provides the local people tilth a stable food supply, but also offers a variety of habitats to many species of wildlife. Therefore, remaining natural habitats including those in the traditional agricultural landscape should be maintained whenever possible. In addition, restoration work should be implemented in areas where the natural habitat has been destroyed or severely degraded by human activities. This basic approach to the natural environment is a combination of maintenance and restoration. Types of maintenance and restoration can be classified into three categories according to the countermeasures employed: preservation, conservation and protection types of maintenance, and improvement, reconstruction and creation types of restoration. Four steps are proposed for ecological restoration and maintenance of a target area: exploration, diagnosis, prescription and care. In this process, a model for approaching the goal is important. One of the most important models should center on the traditional agricultural landscape involving a sustainable farming ecosystem. It is necessary to protect traditional landscapes and ecosystems from the degrading impact of urbanization and industrialization, as well as to enhance efforts at restoration.

In this review, the significance of terrestrial ecosystems in the global sulfur budget has been reviewed based on the currently available databases covering the topic. In the section 1, we describe our current understanding of natural sulfur cycle in relation to most well-known natural reservoir, oceanic environment. The sections 2 and 3 provide the fundamental pictures of the rerrestrial sulfur cycle with respect to the relative importance of its individe the fundamental pictures of the terrestrial sulfur cycle with respect to the section 3, previously reported flux values for several major sulfur gases are presented for each reservoir and are intercompared to derive representative fluxes for the respective environment. In the section 4, source mechanisms for volatile sulfur species are dealt for both microscale and macroscale processes leading to their productions. In the section 5, environmental factors controlling the exchange of biogenic sulfur gases across the air-surface have been discussed. In the section 6, environmental fate of sulfur gases released into the atmosphere has been described. Finally in tie section 7, as concluding remarksm we discuss directions and suggestions to overcome various limitations encountered from previous measurement investigations of natural sulfur cycle in diverse natural ecological systems.
To assess the trophic function of an artificial macroalgal habitat, we compared the stable carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios of two amphipods (Caprella sp. and Ampithoe sp.) and their potential food sources in a transplanted macroalgal habitat (Grateloupia asiatica) with those in a natural habitat. There were no significant differences in the isotopic values of both consumers and their potential food sources between the transplanted and natural habitats. Such isotopic similarities between the two sites indicate a comparable resource consumer relationship. Additionally, our results showed similar isotopic niche areas and high dietary overlap (>65%) of the two amphipods between the transplanted and natural sites, suggesting that the transplanted habitat plays ecological roles similar to the natural habitat. Overall, isotopic assessment can provide information on the trophic function of diverse transplanted macroalgal habitats and improve post-monitoring efforts in the management of artificial ecosystems.
We studied natural and plantation forest ecosystem of Sarguja in Chhattisgarh, India in order to understand how vegetation biomass, carbon stock and its allocation patterns vary among the sites. For this, stratified random sampling was opted to measure the different layers of vegetation. Wide floral diversity was found in the natural forest site as compared to the teak stand. Overall, 17 tree species found in natural forest comprising 8 families while in the teak stand 6 species were recorded. In understory strata 23 species were recorded (18 herbs and 5 shrubs) in natural forest whereas in teak stand 20 herb species and 3 shrubs were found. Great variation was also seen in the population dynamics of the different vegetation stratum in concerned sites. The sapling, seedling and herb density was found to be highest in natural stand while tree and shrub density was more in teak stand. Results indicated that stand biomass of the natural site was $321.19t\;ha^{-1}$ while in the teak stand it was $276.61t\;ha^{-1}$. The total biomass of tree layer in plantation site was $245.22t\;ha^{-1}$ and natural forest $241.44t\;ha^{-1}$. The sapling, seedling, shrub and forest floor biomass was found highest under natural forest as compared to the teak plantation site. Carbon stock has similar trend as that of biomass accumulation in natural forest and teak stand. Higher biomass accumulation and carbon stock were recorded in the higher girth class gradation of the population structure. Proper efforts are required to manage these diverse ecosystems to obtain higher biomass and sustainable ecological services.

Human activities have become a major factor that significantly changes the global environment. Mankind has increasingly used land, water, minerals and other natural resources since the beginning of industrialization, and future growth in the population and economy is thought to further enhance the impact upon the Earth. The global climate, biogeochemical process and natural ecosystems are closely linked with one another, and changes in any one of these systems may effect the others, which could result in consequences detrimental to humans and other living organisms on the Earth.(omitted)
Oomycetes are widely distributed in various environments, including desert and polar regions. Depending upon different habits and hosts, they have evolved with both saprophytic and pathogenic nutritional modes. Freshwater ecosystem is one of the most important habitats for members of oomycetes. Most studies on oomycete diversity, however, have been biased mostly towards terrestrial phytopathogenic species, rather than aquatic species, although their roles as saprophytes and parasites are essential for freshwater ecosystems. In this study, we isolated oomycete strains from soil sediment, algae, and decaying plant debris in freshwater streams of Korea. The strains were identified based on cultural and morphological characteristics, as well as molecular phylogenetic analyses of ITS rDNA, cox1, and cox2 mtDNA sequences. As a result, we discovered eight oomycete species previously unknown in Korea, namely Phytopythium chamaehyphon, Phytopythium litorale, Phytopythium vexans, Pythium diclinum, Pythium heterothallicum, Pythium inflatum, Pythium intermedium, and Pythium oopapillum. Diversity and ecology of freshwater oomycetes in Korea are poorly understood. This study could contribute to understand their distribution and ecological function in freshwater ecosystem.
Marine ecosystems are frequently exposed to a variety of chronic and acute pollutants derived from anthropogenic production and consumption activities. Mussels are sessile (can provide location-specific information), medium-sized (have enough tissue matrix for chemical analysis) filter-feeders (show accumulation of pollutant chemicals from seawater). These biological and ecological characteristics make mussels virtually ideal for pollution monitoring. In this study, Korean mussels (Mytilus coruscus) were collected from nine different sites situated along the coasts of the western sea to the eastern sea of Korea in 2017. Total mercury concentration was highest (mean ${\pm}$ standard error, $92.7{\pm}3.5ng/g\;dry$) on Baengnyeongdo Island in the western sea, and the sites in the southern sea showed the lowest mean concentrations (42.3 - 44.5 ng/g dry). These results were discussed in terms of possible pollution sources.
Termites are important sub-baits of natural ecosystems and are beneficial insects that are natural decomposer. However, the building materials used by human beings can not coexist with each other on timber which is a termite food. As of 2017, due to fertile forests, warming, and the spread of boilers, termite damage to timber construction is increasingly occurring day by day. Currently, Korea utilizes fumigation, Beit system, preserved wood, etc. of chemical products as termite control measures. But in the case of control measures, timber that has already been eaten by termites can not serve as a structural material and must be repaired. On the other hand, in the case of overseas, Scale of damage to termites the influence on the construction is also large, and a lot of research has been carried out on the prevention methods. In this thesis, investigate such foreign control measures, Would like to suggest a suitable method for Korea.
Modern society is transforming into an extreme climate environment. This is fatal to humans and ecosystems and is expected to cause large-scale damage. As this spokesman, natural disasters are increasing as this global average temperature rises. Social and economic damage by this tendency is also increasing. In addition, the frequency and scale of social disasters are increasing. Damage to the living area due to the damage of the infrastructure due to the increased reliance on infrastructure has been increasingly enlarged. In this research, various disasters such as natural disasters and social disasters analyze the impact on urban safety. A local autonomous entity K Priority Management Establish a kind of disaster, prepare crisis management manual, and use it as a basic material of education / training.
Background: The understanding of ecosystem services can be quantified and qualitative to assess the impacts of changes in the ecosystem to support human well-being. In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sustainable use of ecosystem services has attracted the interest of a range of decision-makers. However, although there is a concern for biodiversity, natural ecosystem, and their services, linking ecosystems with conservation planning remains challenging. Results: This study assessed the first qualitative ecosystem services provided by the Mundok wetland with decision makers of the West/Yellow Sea region. Furthermore, this study applied the Rapid Assessment Wetland Ecosystem method to support natural resources management, improving living conditions. We identified that cultural and supporting services index are highly provided, but preparing a plan to increase the provisioning and regulating services in Mundok wetland is necessary. Conclusions: The assessment results can provide helpful information for ecosystem services assessment, habitat conservation, conservation planning, and decision-making at local level.
