음식물 쓰레기와 제지슬러지를 이용한 고체연료 제조 (Manrfacturing Process of Solid Fuel Using Food Wastes and Paper Sludges)

  • Dry Process(natural drying, hot-air drying, oil fry drying), optimized mixture ratio and the condition of carbonization was carried out in order to improve the product durability develop eco-friendly solid fuel mixing food waste and paper sludge. As a result of the experiment, oil fry drying process was the fastest method for drying food waste and paper sludge mixture that contains 80% water inside, and the optimized mixture ratio to minimize the generating concentration of chlorine gas against caloric value of mixture ratio was 7:3. Additionally proper temperature of product carbonization was about $200^{\circ}C$ and shown increasing product durability through the carbonization. Therefore, the pelletized solid fuel be shaped diameter around 0.5cm, length 2cm under which was pulverized and molded using 7:3 mixture of food waste, and paper sludge was the eco-friendly solid fuel possible to be industrialized which is consist of chlorine concentration of below 2.0wt% and the lowest caloric value of over 5,000kcal/kg. In conclusion, this developing manufacturing process of the solid fuel can be interpreted to contribute alternative energy development in accordance with low carbon and green growth era.

건조기 고안 제작에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study for Dryer)

  • A newly devised dryer with heated air for the farm products, especially suited for high water content materials such as red pepper, Beer ground, each Vegetables, and Low water content materials such as Rough rice was tested for its thermal efficiency and drying mechanism, and the optimum conditions for each sample were established. In order to improve the present rural situation of drying farm products which entirely dependent upon natural solar radiation, a study upon an economic multi-parpose dryer was conducted. A series of drying tests were run first with red pepper which is one of the important cash crop in Korean farm. And successive series of tests were also run with such proaucts as garlic, sweet potatoes, green onion, radish, Beer ground and Rough rice. The results from the above experiment in drying system with heat dryer can be summarized as follows. 1. Drying duration could be shortened by the tempering effect in high water content crop such as red pepper and beer ground. 2. The color changes occured in around 20% water content in red pepper. The degree of color change was heavily affected by high temperature and short drying duration. 3. The drying condition of red pepper was most favourable at the temperature of 85$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 80$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and 75$^{\circ}C$ at the final stage, and with the air rate of 0.81㎥/sec and with sample amount of 200kg. 4. The drying condition of Rough rice(I.R.667) was most favourable at the templature of 40$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 35$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and final stage and with the air rate of 0.2㎥/sec and with sample amount of 75kg. 5. In order to prevent the color change of red pepper and to assure high efficiency in drying mechanism, it was necessary to lower the temperature as the time passes in drying process. 6. For vege tables, the drying rate were short in early stage and there was also tempering effect. However, for garlics, Constant drying rates through the early and final stages were observed and there were no tempering effects. 7. 다시마의 건조 과정 중에 발생하는 후코잔틴(fucoxanthin)과 총항산화능의 변화 (Change of fucoxanthin and total antioxidant capacities of Saccharina japonica during the drying process)

  • 열풍 건조와 일광 건조는 건조 다시마를 제조하는데 매우 일반적으로 사용하는 방식이다. 본 연구에서는 건조 다시마의 주요한 생리활성물질인 후코잔틴이 열풍 건조에 의해 노출되는 열과 일광 건조에 의해 노출되는 자외선에 의해 받는 영향에 관하여 연구하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 후코잔틴이 건조 다시마의 폴리페놀 조성에 중요한 비중을 차지하며, 총 항산화 능력에도 기여하고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 열풍 건조에서 발생하는 열과 일광건조에 의해 건조 다시마에 노출되는 자외선에 의해 후코잔틴 및 총 폴리페놀 함량 및 총 항산화 능력이 감소되는 것을 확인하였다. 그러므로 본 연구를 통해 건조 다시마의 가공, 유통 및 저장 그리고 포장재의 선택 등이 건조 다시마의 생리활성물질의 잔존 및 총 항산화 능력에 중요한 요소임을 확인하였다.

Protective effect of methanol extract from citrus press cakes prepared by far-infrared radiation drying on $H_2O_2$-mediated oxidative damage in Vero cells

  • In the present study, a suitable drying method was developed for citrus press cakes (CPCs), which are produced as a by-product in citrus juice plants, and the protective effect of methanol extract of CPCs prepared by far-infrared radiation (FIR) drying against $H_2O_2$-induced DNA damage was evaluated versus that of freeze-dried CPCs. Methanol extract of FIR-dried CPCs exhibited comparatively good ROS scavenging activity versus the freeze-dried CPCs at the concentration of 100 ${\mu}g$/mL. The extract strongly enhanced the cell viability against $H_2O_2$-induced oxidative damage in Vero cells. Lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity of the extract from FIR-dried CPCs was comparable to that of the extract from freeze-dried CPCs. This sample also exhibited good protective effects against $H_2O_2$-mediated cell apoptosis as demonstrated by decreased apoptotic body formation in the nuclear staining with Hoechst 33342. In the comet assay, the CPC extracts exhibited strong inhibitory effects against $H_2O_2$-mediated DNA damage in a dose-dependent manner. Thus, this study demonstrated that FIR drying effectively preserves CPC as a functionally important natural antioxidant source and the FIR drying can be adapted for drying CPCs and is more economical for massive production than freeze drying.

황금 GAP 지침 설정을 위한 건조방법, 저장조건 및 포장재료에 따른 품질변화 (Changes in Quality by Drying Methods, Different Storage Conditions and Package Mediums for Established GAP Guide Book in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi)

  • Background: The purpose of improving the quality of oriental medicinal herbs is to contribute to the improvement of the income of farm. The present study investigated the effect of reasonable drying methods, different storage conditions and packageing materials on quality and stability of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and for developing GAP (good agricultural practice) guide book. Methods and Results: Three methods of drying Scutellaria baicalensis roots produced over two years were used to estimate loss rate owing to drying, storage, and packaging. The methods of drying were categorized into natural drying (36 - 60 h by sunshine), drying with heat dryer (2 - 10 h), or drying with gas bulk dryer (2 - 10 h). After cleaning, and initial drying for a few days under controlled temperature conditions, the second phase of drying was carried out at 35, 45 and $55^{\circ}C$. Changes in hunter color values and quality under the two studied storage treatments (at $20^{\circ}C$ indoors and at $4^{\circ}C$ in a refigerator) were evaluated. Storage period for 60, 120, and 180 days in three packaging materials, PE (polyethylene package), PP (polypropylene gunnysack), and WP (watertight packing paper) were studied. Conclusions: Initial cleaning, reasonable gas drying and hot air drying, and drying in an oven at 35 and $45^{\circ}C$ after cutting the roots resulted in the lowest loss rates in S. Baicalensis root. Hunter color valuse indicated that stroage of dry roots at room temperature was better than PP packaging, and that cold stroage was better than PE packaging for long-term stability.

현장재생골재를 사용한 포장용 콘크리트의 기본 물성실험 (Evaluation of Concrete Material Properties for Pavement Using Job-site Processed Recycled Aggregates)

  • PURPOSES : This study was performed to investigate a feasibility of job-site use of recycled concrete aggregate exceeding 3% of absorption rate. Test variables are coarse aggregate types such as natural aggregate, job-site processed recycled aggregate, and recycled aggregate processed from the intermediate waste treatment company. METHODS : First, aggregate properties such as gradation, specific gravity and absorption rate were determined. Next a basic series of mechanical properties of concrete was tested. RESULTS : All strength test results such as compression, flexure and modulus were satisfied for the minimum requirements. Finally up to first 48 elapsed days the shrinkage strains of concretes made from both recycled aggregates (in case of volume-surface ratio of 300) appeared to be greater than 26% of the companion concretes made from natural aggregates. CONCLUSIONS : Drying shrinkage result is ascribed to greater absorption rate and specific gravity of those specimens made from recycled aggregate. This may be reduced with an addition of admixtures.

Hydromechanical behavior of a natural swelling soil of Boumagueur region (east of Algeria)

  • This work presents an experimental study of the hydromechanical behavior of a natural swelling soil taken from Boumagueur region east of Algeria. Several pathological cases due to the soil shrinkage / swelling phenomenon were detected in this area. In a first part, the hydric behavior on drying-wetting paths was made, using the osmotic technics and saturated salts solutions to control suction. In The second part, using a new osmotic oedometer, the coupled behavior as a function of applied stresses and suction was investigated. It was shown that soil compressibility parameters was influenced by suction variations that an increase in suction is followed by a decrease in the virgin compression slope. On the other hand, the unloading slope of the oedometric curves was not obviously affected by the imposed suction. The decrease in suction strongly influences the apparent preconsolidation pressure, ie during swelling of the samples after wetting.

각종 전처리 및 건조 방법이 건조 채소류의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Various Pretreatments and Drying Methods on the Quality of Dried Vegetables)

  • 호박 고지, 고구마 줄기, 토란대, 및 도라지를 citric acid 용액 침지, 아황산염 용액 침지, 또는 황 훈중 등의전처리를 하여 천일 건조하거나 서로 다른 온도(50, 70, 90, $150^{\circ}C$)에서 열풍 건조한 후에, 실온 저장 중에 곰팡이 발생, 건조 상태 및 수화 복원 상태에서의 관능적 품질을 조사하였다. 호박 고지는 수분 함량이 15% 이하, 고구마 줄기는 20% 이하, 토란대는 25% 이하, 도라지는 15% 이하로 건조하여 PE film에 포장하여 실온에 저장했을때 3 개월여 동안 곰팡이가 발생하지 않았다. 전처리. 방법으로는 채소를 건조 전에 아황산염에 침지하거나 황훈중 처리했을 때 곰팡이 발생이 저지되었다. 엽록소를 함유한 채소는 전반적으로 열풍 건조한 경우가 천일건조한 경우에 비하여 현저히 관능적 품질이 우수했으며, 아황산염 용액에 침지하여 oven에 건조할 경우에 다른 처리 제품보다 관능적 품질이 대체적으로 좋았다. 도라지의 경우는 황 훈증이나 아황산 용액 침지가 건조 후의 제품의 품질에 다소 좋은 영향을 보였으나 건조방법은 관능적 품질에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 건조온도는 도라지를 제외하고는 대체척으로 건조 실험에 사용한 온도 중에서 가장 낮은 $50^{\circ}C$에서 가장 좋은 품질의 건조 채소 제품을 얻을 수 있었으며, 모든 품목에 대하여 $105^{\circ}C$에서 건한 제품은 관능적 품질이 매우 떨어졌다. 채소틀 낮은 온도에서 건조할 때 채소의 복원율이 높았으며 복원 후외 관능적 품질도 채소의 건조 온도가 낮을수륵 좋았다.

  • 태양열(太陽熱) 축열장치(蓄熱裝置)의 개발(開發)을 위(爲)한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻기 위(爲)하여 태양열(太陽熱)의 축열매체(蓄熱媒體)로 돌을 이용(利用)한 평판집열기(平板集熱器)을 제작(製作)하여 집열기(集熱器)의 효율(效率), 총열전달계수(總熱傳達係數), 집열기(集熱器)에 의(依)한 상승온도등(上昇溫度等)을 분석(分析)하고 이를 열원(熱源)으로 벼와 고추에 대(對)한 건조실험(乾燥實驗)을 하였다. 초기함수율(初期含水率) 24.5%인 벼를 14.5%까지 건조(乾燥)시키는데 상온통풍건조(常溫通風乾燥)에서는 약(約) 18일(18日), 튜브형집열기(型集熱器)에서 약(約) 12일(12日), 평판집열기(平板集熱器)에서 약(約) 10일(10日)이 소요(所要)되었으며 통고추 건조(乾燥)의 경우 일광건조(日光乾燥)에서 약(約) 68시간(68時間), 튜브형집열기(型集熱器)에서 약(約) 38시간(38時間), 평판집열기(平板集熱器)에서 약(約) 36시간(36時間)이 소요(所要)되었다. 고추를 절단(切斷)하여 건조(乾燥)할 경우 수평(水平)으로 절단(切斷)하는 것이 효과적(效果的)이었으며 건조(乾燥) 과정중(過程中) capsanthine과 capsaicine성분(成分)의 변화(變化)는 건조방법(乾燥方法)이나 절단방법(切斷方法)에 따라 고추의 품질(品質)에 영향(影響)을 미치는 정도(程度)는 아니라고 사료(思料)되었다.

  • A hitherto unknown substance was isolated from the commercial sample of Aloe arborescens, which was shown to be the 4',6'-O-ethylidene-aloenin, most likely an artifact caused by hot-air drying procedure for the product preparation.
