The Distribution Characteristics of Natural Caves and Tourism Linkage of Open Caves

  • This study is basic research to present the activation of cave tourism. So first of all for establishing of this study, we examined the distribution characteristics of natural caves and monument caves. The results of this study are as follows; First, monument caves concentrate upon Gangwon-do and Jeju-do. Second, open caves concentrate upon Gangwon-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. Third, typical linkage characteristics of tourism resources surrounding open caves are very high in natural tourism resources. Fourth, It is necessary to develop tourism route though the linkage with other tourism resources. But this study have been partial and fragmentary. In order to increase the number of tourists, we should make them curious about the specific region by presenting the unique characteristics of the region, for example its cultural, social, recreational etc. In other words, in order to attract the tourists open caves should differentiate from other open caves.

  • 우리나라의 석회동굴 속에서는 수많은 종류의 동굴미지형과 지물들이 발견되고 있다. 물론 이들의 동굴미지형과 지물들은 그 모두가 석회동굴 속에서 이루어지고 있기 때문에 포괄적으로는 동굴생성물 또는 2차생성물이라고 총칭하기도 한다. 그러나 이들 동굴생성물들 중에는 종유관, 종유석, 석순같이 퇴적작용으로 이루어지는 생성물과 이와는 달리 지하수의 수식작용과 용해작용으로 이루어지는 동굴생성물 즉 동굴미지형 지물들을 따로 구분하여 취급하고자 한다.(중략)

  • The mountains and rivers in Guilin are famous for their beauty; the pines and rocks on Huangshan Mountains are well known for their magnificence. And now, another famous scenic zone that shall be one of the wonders of the world located in remote area of Northeast of China appears quietly, and it attracts lots of tourists and makes them reluctant to leave. That is Huanren, a Manchu county, which is famous as miraculous place.

강원도 평창군 백룡동굴에서 산출되는 종유관의 기재학적 연구 (The Petrographic Investigation of Soda Straws in Baeg-nyong Cave, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea)

  • 이 연구에서는 국내 석회동굴 내부에서 형성되고 있는 종유관에 대한 기재학적 연구를 통해 처음으로 종유관의 특징을 기술하고 그 원인에 대해 논의하였다. 백룡동굴의 주요 굴로부터 북동방향으로 분기하는 가지 굴인 B굴에서 성장하는 종유관 156개를 대상으로 조사한 결과, 종유관의 평균 길이는 3.05 cm (표준편차 ${\pm}1.7cm$), 평균 직경이 약 6.0 mm이다. 이러한 결과는 종유관의 직경이 기존 문헌에 기록된 것보다 약 20% 넓다는 것을 의미한다. 종유관의 끝부분(tip)으로부터 떨어지는 동굴수의 낙수율(drip rate)은 85.3%의 종유관에서 낙수 1회 당 10분 이상으로 측정되어 매우 느린 동굴수 공급이 이루어지고 있음을 나타내고 있으나, 전체적으로 종유관에서도 낙수가 발생된다는 것을 보여준다. 이번 연구를 통해 국내에서는 처음으로 보고되는 종유관의 성장선은 조사된 종유관 중 85.3%에서 관찰되었다. 따라서 해당 구역의 종유관의 경우, 성장선 형성이 매우 일반적인 종유관의 특징임을 보여준다. 또한, 각 종유관 별로 성장선 형성 부위 및 조직이 매우 다양하다는 점도 확인되었다. 종유관 내부에 형성되는 2차 침전물(secondary precipitation)의 경우 68.6%의 종유관에서 관찰되었다. 성장선과 2차 침전물의 형성 유무 사이에서는 강한 역의 상관관계(전체 종유관 중 70.5%)가 관찰되는데, 이는 동굴수 공급의 계절적 불연속성 또는 2차 침전물에 의한 불투명도 증가에 의한 결과로 해석된다. 각각의 특징을 바탕으로 개별 종유관은 일반적인 종유관 유형과 기형 종유관 유형으로 분류가 가능하며, 이번 백룡동굴 종유관에 대한 조사결과는 향후 다른 동굴의 종유관 기재를 위한 기초자료 및 종유관의 고기후학적 활용을 위한 선행 연구 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Yellow-colored mats in Jeju Island lava tubes

  • The Geomunoreum Lava Tube System, declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has a unique natural ecosystem. The information available about this ecosystem, which contains lava caves with secondary carbonate speleothems, is sparse. Hence, extensive research is warranted for establishing a conservation standard. We commenced microbial research on the system and have been studying the microorganisms coating the lava tube wall to acquire fundamental information for understanding the lava cave ecology of Jeju Island. Samples were collected from yellow-colored walls in six caves that are part of the system-the Bengdwi, Utsanjeon, Bukoreum, Manjang, Gimnyeong, and Yongcheon caves. This study focused on yellow walls as it is the most easily distinguished color. According to previous studies, the color of cave walls is attributed to microorganisms or their components. To determine whether the yellow mats from the Jeju lava tube walls are caused by microorganisms, we examined samples at the microscopic scale, by staining mats and analyzing bacterial isolates from glitter particles. As a result, we found that the yellow walls of lava tubes are comprised of microbial mats.

COSPACES EDU를 통한 중국 둔황 원시벽화 메타버스 연구 (A study on metaverse of China's Dunhuang Frescoes through COSPACES EDU)

  • 중국의 둔황 벽화는 자연과 인위적인 요소로 인하여 점점 퇴화되고 있으며 중국 둔황 벽화에 대한 보호연구는 1990년부터 벽화의 디지털 트랜스포메이션을 실시하였다. 그러나 값비싼 연구비용이 필요하고 대부분 관람객들은 디지털미디어에서 관람을 수동적으로 받아들이며 메타버스형 참여가 부족했다고 판단된다. 본 연구는 둔황 고굴 벽화를 연구범위로 정하고, 메타버스를 위해 COSPACES EDU 플랫폼에서 프로토타입을 제작하였다. 둔황벽화를 3차원으로 변환시키고 동굴모형에 이미지를 매핑하여 관광과 교육을 위한 코블록스 블록을 개발하는 등의 절차를 통하여 구현하였다. 또한 사례 연구를 통해 비싼 개발비용을 사용하지 않는 구체적인 방법론을 제시하여 몰입형 둔황벽화 세계를 쉽게 구축하고 관광 콘텐츠와 교육효과를 높이기 위한 프로세스를 개발 제안하였다. 그리고 100개의 유저 체험 설문 피드백을 기준으로 개선해야 할 연구 방향은 문화제 디테일에 대한 퀄리티를 강화하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 연구를 통해 이를 보완, 최적화해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

정선 폐광지역 주요 관광자원 중요도 평가 연구 - 전문가와 지역주민 평가를 중심으로 - (A Study of Important Perception on the Main Tourist Resource of closed Mine Area in Jeong-Seon - The Case of the Perception of Professionals and Local Residents -)

  • This study was initiated by the fact that Kangwon Land and large sized resorts was failed the financial benefit to the local residents. This research analyzed the best important tourist resource among the main tourist resource by perception interviewing local residents and related professionals. This study shows that the leisure resource was most important resource field in Jeong-Seon. So more attention to the leisure resources and investment them. Among natural attraction resources 'Hwa-Ahm cave and Hwa-Ahm mineral water' is estimated to have most potential for the strategic financial support. In leisure sector 'High One resort' is judged to be more important attraction resource by professionals but a case of local residents 'Dong-gang Rafting' and 'Rail Bike' were estimated more important resources rather than 'High One resort;. Lastly, in cultural resources, although the importance is a bit behind natural attraction and leisure resources, 'Jeong-Seon 5th day market' and 'Araree village' should be the core linking other related cultural resources. In order to activate tour industry and development of Jeong-Seon area, it is necessary to find identify of regional owned attraction resources and to build tourist attraction infra structure by selecting core bases of existing major attraction points and linking other various resources to those core bases.

국립공원내의 환경오염행위 관리를 위한 Communication정책의 효 과 -미국 Carlsbad Caverns 국립공원의 사례를 중심으로- (Effects of Communication Strategies for Managing Depreciative Behavior in Carlsbad Caverns National Park)

  • Damage to natural resources from inappropriate visitor behavior is a problem faced by National Park management. Based on the data gathered by personal interview and mail questionnaire, this study examines the effects of communication strategies to reduce depreciative behavior in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. One-quarter of Carlsbad Caverns visitors indicates that they have noticed damage to cave formation during their tour. Almost 38% of visitors say that they have witnessed someone touch a formation inside the Caverns. This is a relatively high percentage compared with other depreciative behavior research to refrain from "tattling" on fellow visitors. Two-thirds of the respondents recalls touching formation replicas before entering the Cavern, while almost all visitors (97.9%) say that they have heard the ranger's talk about not touching formation or leaving the trail. Visitors feel that the ranger's talk is more effective in reducing depreciative behavior than the formation replicas, although at least three-fourths of all respondents believes both techniques are effective.

중국 사합원의 생성과 발전과정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creating and Prosperity Process of the Siheyuan in China)

  • The object of this study is one of the traditional houses about Siheyuan(courtyard house) which is one of the most remarkable types of dwelling in China. The purpose of this paper is to examine and analyse the formation process of the Siheyuan. Its organizational formation process are based on historical and natural-geographical background. With the passage of time this house developed into one of the Chinese house style. The technique of Siheyuan's spatial composition goes so far back in the New Stone Age. The relics of this are the colony layout, the system of four sides, the layout type of a palace, the picture of lacquered ware, the picture of brick, the earthenware of house type, the painting of cave, the paintings of painters and others.

New Family Gulgastruridae of Collembola (Insecta) Based on Morphological, Ecobiological and Molecular Data

  • Gulgastrura reticulosa, first described by Yosii (1966) as a monotypic new genus from a Korean limestone cave, was reviewed for its systematic position by c1adistic analysis of morphological characteristics, investigation of its intermaulting period and reproductive cycle as well as allozyme and 18S rDNA analysis. The great extent of divergence was strongly suggested by its combined lack of sensory organs (third antennal organ, postantennal organ, eyes, pseudocelli) with simultaneous development of an 'apical organ'at the tip of the antennae. The obvious divergence from any existing Collembola families was additionally supported by the extremely prolonged intermoulting period as well as by the low strap value it showed with Onychiuridae as obtained by 18S DNA sequence analysis. All these were considered Justifying the creation of a new family, Gulgastruridae, but still revealing more allied to Onychiuvidae rather than to Hypogastruridae.
