  • Image detection system for road traffic data analysis is a real time detection system using image processing techniques to get the real-time traffic information which is used for traffic control and analysis. One of the most important functions in this system is to match the coordinates of real world and that of image on video camera. When there in no way to know the exact position of camera and it´s height from the object. If some points on the road of real world are known it is possible to calculate the coordinates of real world from image.

  • The variable message sign (VMS) is equipment to improve the efficiency of traffic flow and safety of travel by providing real-time information to road users on traffic, road, weather situation, and traffic control due to construction. The information messages of the letter-based VMS taking up most of the VMS on the general national highways consist of section, travel time in sections, and road control situation. This study devised an improvement plan centered on road users, not road managers-centered existing message-based VMS through an analysis of road users' preference targeting the letter-based VMS operated in the general national highways in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. By presenting the measure for system improvement through which information on unexpected situations that road users prefer the most can be quickly and efficiently provided, this study aims to improve the efficiency of road user-centered VMS traffic information.

The effect of road weather factors on traffic accident - Focused on Busan area - (도로위의 기상요인이 교통사고에 미치는 영향 - 부산지역을 중심으로 -)

  • Them traffic accidents have been increased every year due to increasing of vehicles numbers as well as the gravitation of the population. The carelessness of drivers, many road weather factors have a great influence on the traffic accidents. Especially, the number of traffic accident is governed by precipitation, visibility, humidity, cloud amounts and temperature. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the effect of road weather factors on traffic accident. We use the data of traffic accident, AWS weather factors (precipitation, existence of rainfall, temperature, wind speed), time zone and day of the week in 2013. We did statistical analysis using logistic regression analysis and decision tree analysis. These prediction models may be used to predict the traffic accident according to the weather condition.

  • Slicing Radio Access Network (RAN) can help in effectively utilizing the network bandwidth and to better manage the increasing traffic over interent. RAN slicing system discussed in this paper is based on an open-source slicing mechanism in which we write a JSON configuration file for slicing policy and send it to the FlexRAN controller. FlexRAN controlls the core networks (CNs) through OAI-RAN on the evolved packet core (EPC) component of this system. Each CN is responsible for handling a saperate RAN slice. The type of internet traffic is identified by the FlexRAN crontroller and is sent to the respective CN through OAI-RAN. CN handles the traffic according to the allocated bandwidth and in this way the internet traffic is sliced inside the EPC component.

  • PURPOSES : While road networks are becoming increasingly complex, traffic signs are being indiscriminately installed and operated, which makes drivers who depend on traffic signs to reach their destination confused and unable to understand road information efficiently. In order to promptly and exactly guide road users to their destinations, traffic signs should be able to satisfy the functions of connectivity, visibility, and location suitability. However, the results of a site survey shows that most of the traffic signs currently installed in the Jeollanam-do Province do not satisfy these functions. METHODS : This study analyzed the problems of traffic signs after an actual site survey and focused on a total on 9,353 traffic signs and 70 road routes in Jeollanam-do Province. RESULTS : This study analyzed the problems of traffic signs based on their required functions (connectivity, visibility, suitability) and suggested improvements by establishing a guide system that considered the problems found in the study. CONCLUSIONS : The guide system can be utilized as a basic material that provides efficient road information for future installation and maintenance of traffic signs in Jeollanam-do Province.

  • Recently, various machine learning based traffic classification methods are focused on detecting malicious network traffic. In this paper, convolutional neural network based malicious network traffic classification method is introduced and its performance is evaluated. In order to utilize the convolutional neural network which is excellent in analyzing images, a image transform method from important information of network traffic to a standardized image is proposed, and the transformed images are used as learning input of a CNN network traffic classifier. By using the real network traffic dataset, the proposed image transform method and CNN based network traffic classification method are evaluated. Especially, under various configurations of CNN, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated.

  • This paper investigates the traffic offloading over unlicensed bands for two-tier multi-mode small cell networks. We formulate this problem as a Stackelberg game and apply a hierarchical learning framework to jointly maximize the utilities of both macro base station (MBS) and small base stations (SBSs). During the learning process, the MBS behaves as a leader and the SBSs are followers. A pricing mechanism is adopt by MBS and the price information is broadcasted to all SBSs by MBS firstly, then each SBS competes with other SBSs and takes its best response strategies to appropriately allocate the traffic load in licensed and unlicensed band in the sequel, taking the traffic flow payment charged by MBS into consideration. Then, we present a hierarchical Q-learning algorithm (HQL) to discover the Stackelberg equilibrium. Additionally, if some extra information can be obtained via feedback, we propose an improved hierarchical Q-learning algorithm (IHQL) to speed up the SBSs' learning process. Last but not the least, the convergence performance of the proposed two algorithms is analyzed. Numerical experiments are presented to validate the proposed schemes and show the effectiveness.

Analysis of Traffic Characteristics of General National Roads by Snowfall in Gangwon-do (강원도에서 적설에 의한 일반국도 교통 특성 분석)

  • To investigate the effect of snowfall on the traffic of general roads in Gangwon-do, case analysis was performed in Gangneung, Pyeongchang, and Chuncheon using ASOS (Automated Synoptic Observing System) snowfall data and VDS (Vehicle Detector System) traffic data. First, we analyzed how much the traffic volume and speed decrease in snowfall cases on regional roads compared to non-snow cases, and the characteristics of monthly reduction due to snowfall were investigated. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed to quantitatively grasp the effect of snowfall on traffic volume and speed, and sensitivity tests for snowfall intensity and cumulative snowfall were performed. The results showed that the amount of snowfall caused decrease both in the traffic volume and speed from usual (non-snowfall) condition. However, the trend was different by region: The decrease rate in traffic volume was in the order of Gangneung (17~22%), Chuncheon (14~17%), and Pyeongchang (11~14%). The decrease rate in traffic speed was in the order of Chuncheon (9~10%), Gangneung (8~9%), Pyeongchang (5~6%). No significant results were found in the monthly decrease rate analysis. In all regions, traffic volume and speed showed a negative correlation with snowfall. It was confirmed that the greater the amount of traffic entering the road, the greater the slope of the trend line indicating the change in snowfall due to the traffic volume. As a result of the sensitivity test for snowfall intensity and cumulative snowfall, the snowfall information at intervals of 6-hours was the most significant.

  • 지능형 교통 시스템(ITS:Intelligent Transp-ortation Systems)은 점점 가속화되고 있는 정보화 사회에 알맞은 신속, 안전, 쾌적한 차세대 교통체계를 구현하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이의 일환으로 경기도 광주시 도시지역 광역교통정보 기반확충사업은 광주시 전역을 대상으로 '11년 6월 착수하였다. '12년 4월 SK C&C 컨소시엄이 성공적으로 완료하였다. 광주시는 본 사업을 통해 24시간 교통흐름 및 돌발 상황에 효과적인 대응 수단을 확보하였다. 그리고 실시간 교통정보를 제공함으로써 교통량 분산 등의 효과를 가져왔다.

  • This study proposed a traffic responsive urban traffic control system using RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology to get traffic information. The proposed system is a decentralized control using model predictive control. The objective of proposed system is to get traffic data using advanced technology for controlling the junctions' traffic rights. A simulation example is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model.
