This work is the first of its kind to integrate Mindlin's theory with analytical methods in order to produce an exact solution to a specific vibration issue as well as a bending problem involving a nanoplate that is supported by a viscoelastic foundation. The plate is exposed to the simultaneous effects of a compressive load in the plate plane and a force operating perpendicular to the plane of the nanoplate. In addition, the flexoelecity effect is included into the plate. The strain gradient component is taken into consideration while calculating the plate equilibrium equation using the nonlocal theory and Hamilton's principle. The free vibration and static responses of the nanoplate seem to be both real and imaginary components because of the appearance of the viscoelastic drag coefficient of the viscoelastic foundation. This study also shows that when analyzing the mechanical response for nanostructure, taking into account the flexoelectricity effect and the influence of the nonlocal parameter, the results will be completely different from the case in which this parameter is ignored. This indicates that it is vital to take into consideration the effects of nonlocal parameters on the nanosheet structure while also taking into consideration the effect of flexoelectricity.
According to a generalized nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), dynamic modeling and free vibrational analysis of nanoporous inhomogeneous nanoplates is presented. The present model incorporates two scale coefficients to examine vibration behavior of nanoplates much accurately. Porosity-dependent material properties of the nanoplate are defined via a modified power-law function. The nanoplate is resting on a viscoelastic substrate and is subjected to hygro-thermal environment and in-plane linearly varying mechanical loads. The governing equations and related classical and non-classical boundary conditions are derived based on Hamilton's principle. These equations are solved for hinged nanoplates via Galerkin's method. Obtained results show the importance of hygro-thermal loading, viscoelastic medium, in-plane bending load, gradient index, nonlocal parameter, strain gradient parameter and porosities on vibrational characteristics of size-dependent FG nanoplates.

Dynamic stability of graded nonlocal nano-dimension plates on elastic substrate due to in-plane periodic loads has been researched via a novel 3- unknown plate theory based on exact position of neutral surface. Proposed theory confirms the shear deformation effects and contains lower field components in comparison to first order and refined 4- unknown plate theories. A modified power-law function has been utilized in order to express the porosity-dependent material coefficients. The equations of nanoplate have been represented in the context of Mathieu-Hill equations and Chebyshev-Ritz-Bolotin's approach has been performed to derive the stability boundaries. Detailed impacts of static/dynamic loading parameters, nonlocal constant, foundation parameters, material index and porosities on instability boundaries of graded nanoscale plates are researched.
By employing a quasi-3D plate formulation, the present research studies static stability of magneto-electro-thermo-elastic functional grading (METE-FG) nano-sized plates. Accordingly, influences of shear deformations as well as thickness stretching have been incorporated. The gradation of piezo-magnetic and elastic properties of the nano-sized plate have been described based on power-law functions. The size-dependent formulation for the nano-sized plate is provided in the context of nonlocal elasticity theory. The governing equations are established with the usage of Hamilton's rule and then analytically solved for diverse magnetic-electric intensities. Obtained findings demonstrate that buckling behavior of considered nanoplate relies on the variation of material exponent, electro-magnetic field, nonlocal coefficient and boundary conditions.
In this paper, thermal vibration of a nonlocal functionally graded (FG) plates with arbitrary boundary conditions under linear and non-linear temperature fields is explored by developing a refined shear deformation plate theory with an inverse cotangential function in which shear deformation effect was involved without the need for shear correction factors. The material properties of FG nanoplate are considered to be temperature-dependent and graded in the thickness direction according to the Mori-Tanaka model. On the basis of non-classical higher order plate model and Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory, the small size influence was captured. Numerical examples show the importance of non-uniform thermal loadings, boundary conditions, gradient index, nonlocal parameter and aspect and side-to-thickness ratio on vibrational responses of size-dependent FG nanoplates.
We have synthesized disc-like large silver nanomaterials that have nanostructured bumps on the surface using smaller nanoplate seeds. The size and shape of the bumpy nanostructures are rationally controlled by changing the concentrations of nanoplate seeds, silver ion, reductant, and citrate ion. Importantly, the synthetic mechanism of these bumpy nanostructures is remarkably similar to that of the conventional seed-mediated growth based on tiny seeds. We have further investigated the catalytic properties of the bumpy nanostructures for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, which is associated with a concomitant color change from yellow to colorless.
The nonlocal static bending, buckling, free and forced vibrations of graphene nanosheets are examined based on the Kirchhoff plate theory and Taylor expansion approach. The nonlocal nanoplate model incorporates the length scale parameter which can capture the small scale effect. The governing equations are derived using Hamilton's principle and the Navier-type solution is developed for simply-supported graphene nanosheets. The analytical results are proposed for deflection, natural frequency, amplitude of forced vibration and buckling load. Moreover, the effects of nonlocal parameter, half wave number and three-dimensional sizes on the static, dynamic and stability responses of the graphene nanosheets are discussed. Some illustrative examples are also addressed to verify the present model, methodology and solution. The results show that the new nanoplate model produces larger deflection, smaller circular frequencies, amplitude and buckling load compared with the classical model.
A vibrating double-layered nanoscale piezoelectric plate is developed accounting for the flexoelectricity and surface effects. The flexoelectricity is due to the coupling between electrical polarization and strain gradient. Applying Hamilton's principle, the governing equations and related boundary conditions are derived. Assuming suitable approximate functions, the governing equations are numerically solved for simply-supported and clamped boundary conditions. Obtained results indicate that both the flexoelectricity and surface effects possess notable impact on the vibration frequencies of the system. Only flexoelectricity yields a considerable difference between the present model and previous investigations on conventional piezoelectric nanoplates. Generally, a parametric study has been performed to examine the effects of surface elasticity, flexoelectricity, applied electric voltage, interlayer stiffness, geometrical parameters and boundary conditions on vibration frequencies of piezoelectric nanoplates.
In the present paper, the nonlocal strain gradient refined model is used to study the thermal stability of sandwich nanoplates integrated with piezoelectric layers for the first time. The influence of Kerr elastic foundation is also studied. The present model incorporates two small-scale coefficients to examine the size-dependent thermal stability response. Elastic properties of nanoplate made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are supposed to vary through the thickness direction and are estimated employing a modified power-law rule in which the porosity with even type of distribution is approximated. The governing differential equations of embedded sandwich piezoelectric porous nanoplates under hygrothermal loading are derived through Hamilton's principle where the Galerkin method is applied to solve the stability problem of the nanoplates with simply-supported edges. It is indicated that the thermal stability characteristics of the porous nanoplates are obviously influenced by the porosity volume fraction and material variation, nonlocal parameter, strain gradient parameter, geometry of the nanoplate, external voltage, temperature and humidity variations, and elastic foundation parameters.
In the present study, nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) is developed for wave propagation of functionally graded (FG) nanoscale plate in the thermal environment by considering the porosity effect. $Si_3N_4$ as ceramic phase and SUS304 as metal phase are regarded to be constitutive material of FG nanoplate. The porosity effect is taken into account on the basis of the newly extended method which considers coupling influence between Young's modulus and mass density. The motion relation is derived by applying Hamilton's principle. NSGT is implemented in order to account for small size effect. Wave frequency and phase velocity are obtained by solving the problem via an analytical method. The effects of different parameters such as porosity coefficient, gradient index, wave number, scale factor and temperature change on phase velocity and wave frequency of FG porous nanoplate have been examined and been presented in a group of illustrations.
