A Study on the Name of Ho-su(好袖) of Chosun Period (朝鮮時代의 胡袖)

  • The purpose of this study was to trace and identify the origin and the meanings of the word ho-su(胡袖) of Chosun dynasty period. Findings of this study can be summerized as follows : The original meaning of the word ho-su(胡袖) is a name of round sleeves. Later it was used as a name of a dress with round sleeves. The word ho-su as a name of a dress is an abbrecviated form of ho su so o za(好袖小 子) of a previous period. The word jyo go ri(赤古里) in historical documents is anothor name of so o za(小 子). Wearing the ho-su(胡袖) was restricted to royal family women. It was included in royal women\`s wedding garments as ordinary use. Colors of this dress was used as a means of differentiating the rank and position of the wearer.

  • With the evolution of Internet technologies and the increasing variety of Internet devices, advertisements in various web services have also expanded. Interactive web services often go hand in hand with effective advertisements for a business model. We estimated statistical parameters of the interactive web server for service monitoring and advertisement-effect. In the web pages, we integrated the plugins of social networking services (SNSs) (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) and an advertisement scheme (e.g. Google AdSense) that regards social name-directory contents. Empirical data analysis and statistical results are presented with the implementation of estimations of parameters (e.g. utilization-level and serviceability) and advertisements in a social networking name-directory service (http://ktrip.net or http://한국.net). We found that estimated parameters were applicable to service monitoring of web-server as well as to synthesis of advertisement-effect in our social-web name-directory service.

  • Now, the world is faced with radical changing in the new rvolution which is followed by speading and utilization of internet. The domain names which are currently used on the internet are unique throgh out the world. Therefore, U.S government positively intervenes in the management of the internet domain name for the effective implementation. The thesis descrbes research of the korean domain name system which allows us to use korea character into current internet domain name system and implements the architecture of the korean domain name system by analysis the structure and behavior of domain name server.

  • The industry of LCD monitor and LCD/TV production is complicate, so there are several OEM/ODM companies concentrated on technical and professional skills. Brand name company establishes its own brand name, sells its own product, and reflects market request. Therefore, the main duty of brand name company is on sales and marketing. This article explains the operating flow on LCD monitor and LCD/TV industry, operating relationship between brand name company and OEM/ODM, and advantage and disadvantage on different points. Furthermore, future trend of LCD monitor and LCD/TV can be reviewed in the article.

Studies on the Effects of Evodiae Fructus on the Cardiovascular System in N-nitro-L-arginine Methyl Ester-induced Hypertensive Wistar Rats (오수유가 N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester로 유발한 고혈압흰쥐의 심혈관계에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study examined the effect of a methanol extract of Evodiae Fructus on the cardiovascular function in N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (NAME)-induced hypertensive Wistar rats after treatment over 6 weeks. In rats treated with NAME, blood pressure, weight of heart, aorta media thickness and media/lumen ratio significantly (p<0.05) increased, whereas coronary flow and heart rate of isolated heart significantly (p<0.05) decreased compared with control group at 6 weeks. In rats treated with NAME and Evodiae Fructus, blood pressure, aorta media/lumen ratio significantly(p<0.05) decreased compared with NAME treated group at 6 weeks. These results suggest that Evodiae Fructus is applicable to the treatment of hypertension and vascular hypertrophy.

Malaysian Name-based Ethnicity Classification using LSTM

  • Name separation (splitting full names into surnames and given names) is not a tedious task in a multiethnic country because the procedure for splitting surnames and given names is ethnicity-specific. Malaysia has multiple main ethnic groups; therefore, separating Malaysian full names into surnames and given names proves a challenge. In this study, we develop a two-phase framework for Malaysian name separation using deep learning. In the initial phase, we predict the ethnicity of full names. We propose a recurrent neural network with long short-term memory network-based model with character embeddings for prediction. Based on the predicted ethnicity, we use a rule-based algorithm for splitting full names into surnames and given names in the second phase. We evaluate the performance of the proposed model against various machine learning models and demonstrate that it outperforms them by an average of 9%. Moreover, transfer learning and fine-tuning of the proposed model with an additional dataset results in an improvement of up to 7% on average.

  • Dan-Ryong is the traditional clothing that was worn the entire of oriental nations, and it was spreaded from Sun-Bi tribe to China about A.D. 4C. The first, the name of Dan-Ryong was translated with 25-Sa and Ancient-History Book. Among the name of Dan-Ryong, the follows were different between the name and shape. Jang-Bok was the colored Dan-Ryong, So-Bok was the unfigured black Dan-Ryong and removed Hyung-Bae, Ea-Mun-Pho was the Dan-Ryong of embroidered figure poetry, and Ja-Sam was the real short and tight Dan-Ryong. The second, some problems were given by translated Dan-Ryong's name. The results of the problems were as follows; 1. Dan-Ryong was oriented from Won-Wi. 2. At Su-Dynasty, there was going to the persuit of Han-Dynasty Courtesy, but they liked useful custom. Therefore Dan-Ryong was worn in daily life among the population. 3. At Dang-Dynasty, Ho-Bok was devided with three meanings. The first was Go-Sub, the second was Dan-Ryong of Buk-Jo about A.D. 3$\~$5 C and the last meaning was the clothing of Uighur, Turkey, Persia and etc. about A.D. 7 C. 4. The name of neck-line shape was started at Song and the majority arised about A.D. 12 C. and Dan-Ryong was only arised at Myong-Dynasty. 5. Gok-Ryong, except Song-Sa and Sam-Je-He-Bo, was different from Dan-Ryong and it was shape of neck-line inside of Jik-Ryong.

  • In this paper, we proposed the effectively method for constructing of name authority data in korean academic papers and designed the authority database system that is applied the method. For these, we analyze the requisite for identifying the author name and suggest the author identification method. Because construction of name authority record costs time and effort, and considering frequently period of large-scale acquisitions of academic papers, our suggestion includes the system that be able to manage and construct the name authority database, and that is tightly connected with the academic paper management and service systems.

  • This study investigates the effect of Alpha-numeric brand name on the product suitability, brand personality, and attitude. To do that we have chosen the functional sportswear, knowing the fact that the Alpha-numeric brand names are not hard to find in this industry. The changes have been made to Alpha-numeric names, such as the usage/non-usage of number, the size of number being used, the writing method, and the different typeface to suit for the study purpose. The results indicate that the Alpha-numeric brand names do have the effect on increasing the fitness for the product's brand. The bigger number and the cursive script will improve the product's suitability. The customers form positive attitude and favorability on the Alpha-numeric brand name compared to the regular brand name in this industry. The contribution of the study is to dig out the distinction of the communicational effects on the customers when the Alpha-numeric brand names take on the different forms. Therefore the current study enlights the practical value of Alpha-numeric brand name as part of the branding strategy.

Image and Altitude on the Alpha-Numeric Brand Name of Fashion Products (패션제품의 숫자 결합 상표명에 대한 이미지와 태도에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the images on the alpha numeric brand name of fashion products, to identify the influences of clothing pursuit benefit on the brand name image and to determine the significant images on the attitude and purchasing intention. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 270 male and female students of undergraduate school in Kyongnam province during the March, 2004. Using SPSS 12.0 package, Cronbach's a, frequency analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results could be summarized as follows: First, the image dimensions of alpha-numeric brand name were composed of natural, new, active, urban, impactive and interesting image. Clothing pursuit benefits were composed of the brand value, attractiveness, fashion, individuality and economic value pursuit, Second, Clothing pursuit benefits had an significant effect on the image preference of alpha-numeric brand name. Especially, individuality pursuit and attractiveness pursuit have influenced on the natural, new, active, urban images. Third, the new, active, impactive, natural images had significant effects on the attitude, purchasing intention and conformity of products.
