Modified Suppression Subtractive Hybridization Identifies an AP2-containing Protein Involved in Metal Responses in Physcomitrella patens

  • The moss Physcomitrella patens has two life cycles, filamentous protonema and leafy gametophore. A modified from of suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), mirror orientation selection (MOS), was applied to screen genes differentially expressed in the P. patens protonema. Using reverse Northern blot analysis, differentially expressed clones were identified. The identified genes were involved mainly in metal binding and detoxification. One of these genes was an AP2 (APETALA2) domain-containing protein (PpACP1), which was highly up-regulated in the protonema. Alignment with other AP2/EREBPs (Ethylene Responsive Element Binding Proteins) revealed significant sequence homology of the deduced amino acid sequence in the AP2/EREBP DNA binding domain. Northern analysis under various stress conditions showed that PpACP1 was induced by ethephon, cadmium, copper, ABA, IAA, and cold. In addition, it was highly expressed in suspension-cultured protonema. We suggest that PpACP1 is involved in responses to metals, and that suspension culture enhance the expression of genes responding to metals.

실험실적 방법에 의한 Color CRT와 염색직물의 칼라 매칭 (Color matching of color CRT and dyed fabric by using experimental method)

  • The accurate representation of the colors of dyed fabric on a color CRT(cathode ray tube) screen is the basis for the automatic process in dyeing industry. In the former study, we had focused on the theoretically color matching method between CIE(International Commission on Illumination) and RGB color coordinates, but In this study we tried simulating the colors obtained from fabrics on the color CRT by using experimental method. we obtained the following results. 1. We could simulate all of the color CRT by gamut mapping method, even though some of the KOSCOTE(Korea Standard Color of Textile) colors represented on the color CRT didn′t exist in the region of color region. 2. We could do conditional matching by CIE system, even though it was hard to do invariant matching the Red, Green, Blue phosphers of the color CRT because of the SPD(Spectral Power Distribution) which had been set up before. 3. We could simulate all the colors obtained from fabrics on the color CRT by matching those two color groups from KOSCOTE fabrics and color CRT using match algorithm and matching programs. 4. If we get over on obstacles by grafting CCM and CCK machines which have been used in educational and industrial areas by matching KOSCOTE with color CRT we will be able to invent color simulation system controled automatically.

배경조건에 따른 Visual Field에서의 Stationary Field의 변화

  • Depending upon the eye and head movement, the visual field is often classified into three categories; stationary field, eye field and head field. To investigate the effect of background condition on the size of stationary field, an experiment was conducted, in which the subject was instructed to search a target with distinct orientations. In each trial, a single target was presented on the rear-view screen projected by the two-field tachistoscope, with the visual angle subtended 4.3.deg. vertically and horizontally. Density, meridian and subject showed a significant effect on stationary field at .alpha.=0.01, where density was inversely proportional to the size of stationary field. The size of the stationary field on horizontal axis was larger than that on vertical axis, and that on right and below meridian also larger than on left and lower meridian. The shape was found to be horizontally oriented oval and statistically asymmetric with respect to horizontal and vertical axes. The regression equation to predict stationary field on the given background condition was suggested. These results were expected to be used as a designing guideline when arranging displays and controls on panels such as automobile display panels, cockpits, etc. In addition, it can be inferred from the results that eye field and head field are also subjected to the influence of background condition.

Feasibility of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) Swarf Particles to Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO)

  • Indium (In) is widely used for transparent electrodes of photovoltaics as a form of indium tin oxide (ITO) due to its superior characteristics of environmental stability, relatively low electrical resistivity and high transparency to visible light. However, In has been worn off in proportion to growth the In related market, and it leads to raise of price. Although In is obtained from ITO target scarps, much harmful elements are used for the recycling process. To decrease of harmful elements, ITO swarf particles obtained from target scraps was characterized whether it is feasible to transparent conductive oxide (TCO). The ITO swarf was crushed with milling process, and it was mixed with new ITO nanoparticles. The mixed particles were well dispersed into ink solvent to make-up an ink, and it was well coated onto glass substrate. After heat-treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ under $N_2$ rich environments, optical transmittance at 550 nm and sheet resistance of the ITO ink coated layer was 71.6% and $524.67{\Omega}/{\square}$, respectively. Therefore, it was concluded that the ITO swarf was feasible to TCO of touch screen panel.

중.소형 연미기의 성능평가 및 성능개선에 관한 연구 (I) -소형 연미기에 대하여 - (Performance Evaluation and Improvement of Medium and Small Scale Rice Polishers (I) -small scale rice polisher -)

  • The structural characteristics of a small scale rice polisher was analyzed to improve its performance. Spraying characteristic of nozzles used for rice polishing was also analyzed by a machine vision system. The internal pressure of the polishing chamber was measured according to outlet resistance, water spraying, and roller shaft speed. In addition, the performance of the rice polisher was evaluated to improve it in the basis of internal pressure in polishing chamber, whiteness, and broken rice ratio of clean rice according to the operating conditions. Actual nozzle discharge rate and drop size were 125 cc/min and 86~97 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. In the case of water spraying on rices, the internal pressure showed 4.9~9.8N/$\textrm{cm}^2$ increase. broken rice ratio decreased, and there was no difference in whiteness. The internal pressure inueased up to two times with the increase of the outlet resistance. Also, the pressure at the upper part of screen was one and half times as high as the pressure at the lower part. In the case of water spraying rate of 150 cc/min, the roller shaft speed of 850 rpm resulted in no difference in whiteness and decrease of 0.3% in broken rice ratio, comparing to the roller shaft speed of 950 rpm.

  • 최근 디지털 방송 서비스가 본격화가 이루어짐에 따라 디지털 콘텐츠는 기하급수적으로 늘어나고 있다. 또한 방송통신 융합 환경은 기존 셋탑 박스와 같은 방송 전용 단말기와 PC, 노트북, PDA와 같은 인터넷 단말기기, 그리고 모바일 폰과 같은 통신기기 사이의 벽을 허물고 있다. IPTV, SmartTV 시대의 도래로 방송통신 제공자의 양방향성 콘텐츠의 제공 및 상호연동 서비스의 제공은 중요한 이슈가 되었다. 이에 따라 다양한 단말기를 이용해 N-Screen이 가능하도록 방송통신 융합 서비스를 제공하고, 이를 위한 여러 콘텐츠 제작이 활발히 일어나고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 양방향성과 상호운용성을 높이기 위한 하나의 방법으로, 방송통신 융합서비스를 인터넷에 의한 전송과 방송 셋탑에 의한 전송에 있어서 상호 동일한 콘텐츠의 통일성을 유지하여 관리가 쉽도록 하는 Scalable Application Framework를 이용하였고 이를 실제 멀티미디어 모바일 단말기기에 적용하고 구현하였다. 이를 통해 앞으로 스마트 방송 시대에 대비할 수 있는 시스템의 대안을 제안하고자 한다. MPEG-21의 DID를 기초로 하여 SADL(Scalable Application Description Language)를 정의하고 이를 이용한 다양한 프레임워크 모델 중 일부인 멀티미디어 모바일 단말기기에 적용하여 이를 활용하는 방안에 대해 논의한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 환경에서 사용자의 각기 다른 사용 상황을 인지하고 그에 맞는 콘텐츠 및 사용자 인터페이스를 실시간으로 구성하여 제공하는 방법에 대해 제안한다. 방송/통신 환경에서도 다양한 사용자가 다매체, 다채널 등 여러 방법으로 컨텐츠를 소비 하고 있기에 단말 환경 및 사용자 특성을 인지하여 그에 적응적인 콘텐츠와 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하는 사용자 반응형 서비스에 대한 논의가 계속 되고 있다. 또한 다양한 디바이스가 보편적으로 보급됨에 따라 사용자는 하나의 스크린에 모든 관심을 주는 것이 아니라 다양한 스크린으로 동시에 관심을 분산시킨다. 그 동안 사용자가 선호하는 콘텐츠가 제공될 경우 더욱 그 주목도를 높이기에 다양한 세컨 디바이스에 개인 적응적 사용자 인터페이스 및 컨텐츠를 제공하는 것이 서비스 차별화의 중요한 요소로 작용하고 있다. 제안하는 프레임워크는 다양한 세컨 디바이스 사용자가 IPTV 와 같은 VOD 서비스를 동시에 이용할 경우 개인화 디바이스를 통해 각자의 서로 다른 환경에 적응적인 부가 서비스를 제공 받는 서비스에 적용하여 테스트를 진행하였다.

Film grain의 추출 및 합성을 통한 압축 효율 향상에 대한 연구 (Film grain extraction and synthesis for improved coding efficiency)

  • 최근 Full-HD TV, UHDTV의 보급에 따라 고화질 영상에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며 N-Screen 서비스의 확장으로 고화질 영상을 빠르게 전송하는 문제의 중요성은 더욱 커지고 있다. 고화질 영상을 빠르게 전송하기 위해서는 압축 효율의 향상이 필요한데, 일반적으로 영상에 잡음이 많을 때에는 압축 효율이 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 원인의 잡음들 중에 film grain noise에 초점을 맞추어 이를 조절하여 영상압축의 효율을 높이는 방법을 연구한다. film grain은 영화촬영 방법 및 환경 등에 따라 강도가 달라지기도 하지만 필름으로 촬영한 모든 영화에서 쉽게 관찰할 수 있으며 앞으로도 계속 포함이 될 것으로 예상되고, 디지털 영화의 경우에도 저조도에서는 이와 비슷한 특성의 잡음이 발생한다. 재안하는 방법에서는 film grain이 포함된 영상에서 grain을 추출/제거한 영상을 압축하며 추출한 film grain에서 작은 영역을 선택하여 sample grain을 만든 후 별도로 압축한다. 디코더에서 grain을 없앤 영상만을 보여줄 수 있지만, 경우에 따라 grain이 없으면 심미적으로 오히려 좋지 않은 결과가 보이기도 한다. 따라서 압축을 푼 후에는 sample grain에서 원본 영상 크기의 grain을 합성한 후 grain을 제거한 영상과 더하여 grain이 포함된 영상을 재 생성한다. 실험한 결과 원본과 유사한 grain이 생성되면서 압축효율이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있다.

새로운 방향족 에스테르계 가소제 합성 및 내분비계 장애성 시험 (Synthesis of New Aromatic Ester Plasticizers and Their Endocrine Disrupting Screening)

  • Based on the Benzoflex (Vesicol Chemical Co.) as PVC plasticizer substituents for Di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP), a series of new aromatic carboxylic acid ester compounds were designed as plasticizers, synthesized, and screened for the endocrine disrupting activity. 2-Hydroxybenzoic acid (1) and 2-methoxybenzoic acid (2) as the commercially available starting materials were reacted with diethylene glycol (3) in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid using Dean-Stark column to give diethylene glycol di-(2-hydroxy)benzoate (4, KH01) and diethylene glycol di-(2-methoxy)benzoate (5, KH02), respectively. And diethylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (7, KH03) and dipropylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (9, KH04) were obtained in high yields by treatment of nicotinoyl chloride (6) with diethylene glycol (3) and dipropylene glycol (8) in the presence of triethylamine as a base. To determine the estrogenic disrupting effect of new synthetic phthalate analogues, E-screen assay method was used. Of these compounds, 4 (KH01) was found to be compound without endocrine disrupting effect.
