  • A series of model tests was carried out to investigate the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) characteristics of a free hanging PVC pipe under forced oscillation conditions. The prescribed displacement with a period and amplitude was forced at the top of the riser. The motion of the riser along its length was measured with underwater cameras in three dimensions. The top-excited responses in the inline direction and vortex-induced vibration in the cross-flow direction were examined in the time and frequency domains. Multi-peak frequencies in the VIV were demonstrated to be strongly dependent upon the Keulegan-Carpenter number, corresponding with the results of Blevin. It was found that the Reynolds numbers (excitation period) was a critical parameter for the dominant VIV characteristics, even under the condition of using the same Keulegan-Carpenter number, under the top-excited condition. In the resonance at the nth natural frequency by the forced-motion induced VIV frequency, the riser responded with a large amplitude and forced frequency, dominantly in the VIV CF direction.

  • 본 논문에서는 ISM 대역에서 동작하는 BAN(Body Area Network) 신호의 영향을 배제하기 위해서 4.567 GHz에서 작동하는 온 바디 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나의 설계 및 최적화 과정을 제시하였다. 하지 해면골 골다공증 감시를 위한 이 안테나는 향상된 반사손실 및 대역폭을 가지면서, 경박단소하도록 설계하였다. 적용된 하지 주변 구조는 5층 유전체 평면으로 구조화 하였으며, 손실을 고려한 각층의 복소유전상수는 다중 Cole-Cole 모델 매개변수를 사용하여 계산하였으나, 정상 및 골다공증 해면골은 단극형 모델을 사용하였다. 팬텀상 동축급전 안테나의 반사손실은 4.567 GHz에서 -67.26 dB이고, 골다공증 경우 동일 주파수에서 반사손실차 𝚫S11=35.88 dB이고, 공진 주파수 차는 약 7 MHz이다.

Study of Harmonic Suppression of Ship Electric Propulsion Systems

  • This paper studies the harmonic characteristics of ship electric propulsion systems and their treatment methods. It also adopts effective measures to suppress and prevent ship power systems from affecting ship operation due to the serious damage caused by harmonics. Firstly, the harmonic characteristics of a ship electric propulsion system are reviewed and discussed. Secondly, aiming at problems such as resonant frequency and filter characteristics variations, resonance point migration, and unstable filtering performances in conventional passive filters, a method for fully tuning of a passive dynamic tunable filter (PDTF) is proposed to realize harmonic suppression. Thirdly, to address the problems of the uncontrollable inductance L of traditional air gap iron core reactors and the harmonics of power electronic impedance converters (PEICs), this paper proposes an electromagnetic coupling reactor with impedance transformation and harmonic suppression characteristics (ECRITHS), with the internal filter (IF) designed to suppress the harmonics generated by PEICs. The ECRITHS is characterized by both harmonic suppression and impedance change. Fourthly, the ECRITHS is investigated. This investigation includes the harmonic suppression characteristics and impedance transformation characteristics of the ECRITHS at the fundamental frequency, which shows the good performance of the ECRITHS. Simulation and experimental evaluations of the PDTF are carried out. Multiple PDTFs can be configured to realize multi-order simultaneous dynamic filtering, and can effectively eliminate the current harmonics of ship electric propulsion systems. This is done to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the supply currents to well below the 5% limit imposed by the IEEE-519 standard. The PDTF also can eliminate harmonic currents in different geographic places by using a low voltage distribution system. Finally, a detailed discussion is presented, with challenges and future implications discussed. The research results are intended to effectively eliminate the harmonics of ship electric power propulsion systems and to improve the power quality of ship power systems. This is of theoretical and practical significance for improving the power quality and power savings of ship power systems.

Mirror Syndrome Resulting from Metastatic Congenital Neuroblastoma to Placenta

  • Congenital neuroblastoma is a rare disease. Placental metastasis is extremely rare and poor prognosis has been reported in neonates. Mirror syndrome could occur in mother with placental metastasis with possibilities of hypertension and edema. We report a case of detection of left suprarenal mass in fetus at $31^{+5}weeks^{\prime}$ gestation. Mother presented with palpitation, edema, headache, and hypertension. Maternal 24 hours urine vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) and normetanephrine (NME) level at 34 weeks' gestation were elevated. Consequently, emergent cesarean section was done. Based on abdominal ultrasonography and whole body magnetic resonance imaging, left adrenal tumor with liver metastasis was suspected. Neuroblastoma was confirmed by liver and placenta biopsy. Chemotherapy was started with Pediatric Oncology Group 9243 at day 7 and changed into Children's Oncology Group 3961 due to cholestasis and poor response during 2nd cycle. Plasma exchange was done for aggravated direct hyperbilirubinemia. The baby expired at 73 days due to multi-organ failure. Maternal symptoms were completely resolved in 2 weeks after delivery along with normalization of the elevated level of VMA and NME. We report a first case of mirror syndrome in Korean mother and fetus resulting from metastatic congenital neuroblastoma to placenta.

Clinical and radiographic features of facial cosmetic materials: A systematic review

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to systematically screen the literature for studies reporting cosmetic material in the oral and maxillofacial complex to shed light on the types of cosmetic materials, their radiographic appearance, and possible complications. Materials and Methods: Five electronic databases were reviewed for eligible studies. The general search terms were "cosmetic," "filler," "face," and "radiograph." Demographics, material types, clinical and radiographic presentation, and complications were recorded. Results: Thirty-one studies with 53 cases met the inclusion criteria. The mean age was 52.6±15.4 years with a 4 : 3 female-to-male ratio. The most common material was calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) (n=14, 26.4%), found incidentally. The materials were generally located within the upper cheek and zygoma (n=35, 66.0%), radiographically well-defined (n=44, 83%), and had no effects on the surrounding structures (n=27, 50.9%). The internal structure was radiopaque (calcification, hyperdensity) for gold wires, CaHa, bone implants, and secondary calcification or ossification. Outdated cosmetic materials or non-conservative techniques were infiltrative, had effects on the surrounding structures, and presented with clinical signs, symptoms, or complications. Conclusion: Conventional radiography, cone-beam computed tomography, and multi-detector computed tomography are useful to differentiate several cosmetic materials. Their magnetic resonance imaging appearance was highly variable. The infrequent inclusion of cosmetic materials in the differential diagnosis implies that medical and dental specialists may be unfamiliar with the radiographic appearance of these materials in the face.

스마트 TMD의 지진응답 제어성능 실험적 검토 (Experimental Evaluation of Seismic Response Control Performance of Smart TMD)

  • Tuned mass damper (TMD) is widely used to reduce dynamic responses of structures subjected to earthquake loads. A smart tuned mass damper (STMD) was proposed to increase control performance of a traditional passive TMD. A lot of research was conducted to investigate the control performance of a STMD based on analytical method. Experimental study of evaluation of control performance of a STMD was not widely conducted to date. Therefore, seismic response reduction capacity of a STMD was experimentally investigated in this study. For this purpose, a STMD was manufactured using an MR (magnetorheological) damper. A simple structure presenting dynamic characteristics of spacial roof structure was made as a test structure. A STMD was made to control vertical responses of the test structure. Two artificial ground motions and a resonance harmonic load were selected as experimental seismic excitations. Shaking table test was conducted to evaluate control performance of a STMD. Control algorithms are one of main factors affect control performance of a STMD. In this study, a groundhook algorithm that is a traditional semi-active control algorithm was selected. And fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was used to control a STMD. The FLC was optimized by multi-objective genetic algorithm. The experimental results presented that the TMD can effectively reduce seismic responses of the example structures subjected to various excitations. It was also experimentally shown that the STMD can more effectively reduce seismic responses of the example structures conpared to the passive TMD.

Effectiveness of MR Urography in the Evaluation of Kidney which Failed to Opacify during Excretory Urography: Comparison with Ultrasonography

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of MR urography (MRU) with that of ultrasonography (US) in the evaluation of urinary tract when this failed to opacify during excretory urography (EXU). Materials and Methods: Twelve urinary tracts in 11 patients were studied. In each case, during EXU, the urinary system failed to opacify within one hour of the injection of contrast media, and US revealed dilatation of the pelvocalyceal system. Patients underwent MRU, using a HASTE sequence with the breath-hold technique; multi-slice acquisition was then performed, and the images were reconstructed using maximal intensity projection. Each set of images was evaluated by three radiologists to determine the presence, level, and cause of urinary tract obstruction. Results: Obstruction was present in all twelve cases, and in all of these, MRU accurately demonstrated its level. In this respect, however, US was successful in only ten. The cause of obstruction was determined by MRU in eight cases, but by US in only six. In all of these six, MRU also successfully demonstrated the cause. Conclusion: MRU is an effective modality for evaluation of the urinary tract when this fails to opacify during EXU, and appears to be superior to US in demonstrating the level and cause of obstruction.

Software Defined Radio를 위한 I/Q 부정합 보정 기능을 갖는 이중 대역 Six-Port 직접변환 수신기 (Dual-Band Six-Port Direct Conversion Receiver with I/Q Mismatch Calibration Scheme for Software Defined Radio)

  • 본 논문에서는 software defined radio(SDR) 기반의 고속의 다중 모드, 다중 대역을 위한 새로운 six-port 직접변환 수신기를 제안한다. 설계한 수신기는 2개의 CMOS four-port BPSK 수신기와 직교 LO 신호 발생을 위한 이중 대역 1단 polyphase 필터로 구성되어 있다. 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 이용하여 마이크로파 대역에서 처음으로 개발한 four-port 수신기는 두 개의 능동 결합기, 능동 발룬, 두 개의 전력 검출기 및 아날로그 디코더로 구현되어 있다. 제안한 polyphase 필터는 type-I 구조를 선택하였으며, LO 신호의 전력 손실을 줄이기 위하여 1단으로 구현 하였고, 커패시터를 사용하는 것 대신하여 LC 공진구조를 적용하여 이중 대역 동작을 구현하였다. 제안한 sixport 수신기의 RF 가용범위를 확장하기 위하여, six-port junction과 전력 검출기에 I/Q 위상 및 크기를 보정하는 회로를 추가하였다. 제안한 회로에서 위상과 크기 부정합의 보정 범위는 각각 8도와 14 dB이다. 제작한 six-port 수신기는 이중 대역인 900 MHz와 2.4 GHz 대역에서 M-QAM, M-PSK의 40 Msps의 변조 신호를 성공적으로 복조하였다.

휴대단말기용 다중 대역 칩 안테나 설계 (A Design of Multi-Band Chip Antenna for Mobile Handsets)

  • 본 논문에서는 미엔더 라인 피파 구조와 기생 패치를 이용하여 휴대 단말기용 다중 대역 칩 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나는 FR-4 기판을 사용하였으며, 상층은 GSM900 대역을 구현하기 위해 미엔더 라인 PIFA 구조로 구성하였고, 최대한 공간 효율을 높이기 위해 비아홀로 각 패드에 미엔더 라인을 연결하였다. 중간층은 DCS, PCS 대역을 구현하기 위해 급전선과 간격을 주어 설계했으며, 하층은 그라운드 접지면에 기생 패치를 추가하여 중간층의 방사체와 커플링 결합으로 주파수와 임피던스 특성을 조절할 수 있음을 보였다. 안테나 크기는 $28{\times}6{\times}4\;mm^3$, 그라운드 조건은 $45{\times}90\;mm$로 제작하였으며, 설계를 위한 모의 실험은 CST 시뮬레이터로 해석하였다. 측정된 대역폭(VSWR<3)은 GSM900 대역에서 90($875{\sim}965$) MHz, DCS, PCS 대역에서는 380($1,670{\sim}2,050$) MHz을 얻었다. 각 공진 주파수의 최대 이득은 0.25 dBi, 3.65 dBi, 3.3 dBi이며, 무지향성 방사 패턴 특성을 보였다.

QA용 두부 팬톰을 이용한 Hitchcoke CT 및 혈관조영 정위적 시스템에 대한 정확도 평가 (Evaluation of Accuracy on Hitchcoke CT/angio localization system using QA head phantom)

  • 정위적 방사선 수술과 신경외과적 수술분야 에서는 상호보완적인 영상정보를 얻기 위하여 컴퓨터 단층촬영 (CT), 자기공명영상 (MRI) 그리고 혈관조영촬영이 사용된다. 본 연구의 목적은 여러 영상장치와 다목적 QA(Quality Control) 팬톰을 이용하면서, 정위적 방사선수술 및 신경외과적 수술분 야에서 두경부내의 병소에 대한 모양, 크기, 위치를 정확하게 결정하기 위한 3 차원 정위 시스템을 개발하는 것이다. 목표물의 정확한 위치를 정의하기 위하여, Hitchcoke 정위 프레임과 컴퓨터 단층 촬영 (CT)/혈관 조영촬영용 위치측정 보조기구들을 3차원 공간상에 9개의 목표물을 가진 팬톰에 고정하였다. 컴퓨터 단층촬영과 혈관 조영촬영을 이용하여 얻은 기하학적 팬톰의 영상들을 이용하여, 목표물의 3차원 정위좌표를 얻기위한 알고리즘이 개발되었다. 개발된 알고리즘에 의해 계산된 목표물들의 위치는 팬톰의 절대 좌표와 비교 되었고, 각 CT 영상에서의 목표물들은 뇌혈관촬영 영상위에 상호 중첩될 수 있도록 개발 되었다. 512$\times$512 메트릭스와 2mm 슬라이스 두께를 가진 컴퓨터 단층촬영에 있어서는 1.02$\pm$0.17 mm의 평균거리오차를 보였고, 혈관 조영촬영인 경우에는 0.41$\pm$0.05mm 의 평균거리오차를 보였다. 목표물의 위치를 결정하는데 있어서 결과로 나온 정확도는 개발된 시스템이 정위적 방사선수술과 신경외과적수술을 위해 충분히 신뢰성이 있음을 확인해주었다.
