We propose a multi-rate sensor fusion of vision and radar using Kalman filter to solve problems of asynchronized and multi-rate sampling periods in object vehicle tracking. A model based prediction of object vehicles is performed with a decentralized multi-rate Kalman filter for each sensor (vision and radar sensors.) To obtain the improvement in the performance of position prediction, different weighting is applied to each sensor's predicted object position from the multi-rate Kalman filter. The proposed method can provide estimated position of the object vehicles at every sampling time of ECU. The Mahalanobis distance is used to make correspondence among the measured and predicted objects. Through the experimental results, we validate that the post-processed fusion data give us improved tracking performance. The proposed method obtained two times improvement in the object tracking performance compared to single sensor method (camera or radar sensor) in the view point of roots mean square error.

The channel parameters such as RMS delay spread and Doppler frequency have an effect on performance of system. This paper investigates the effect between the Inter-Code Interference (ICI) and the frequency diversity gain in the multi-rate MC-CDMA system. The multi-rate MC-CDMA system has achieved the more variable data rate than the MC-CDMA and moreover it has the better performance than the OFDMA system, because it has achieved the frquency diversity gain. However, the frequency diversity gain and ICI have a trade-off relationship by using the spreading code. Therefore, we have improved the system performance by efficient choice of system parameters. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the frequency diversify gain and the ICI effect, we perform simulations by altering the Doppler frequency and RMS delay spread.

The object of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of refrigerators using a single-circuit multi cycle and a bypass two-circuit multi cycle. Each refrigeration cycle was tested by varying secondary fluid mass flow rate and temperature. Based on the experimental data, the optimum refrigerant charge was 48 g and the COP at the optimum secondary fluid mass flow rate was 1.53 for the single-circuit multi cycle. For freezer(F)-only mode, both the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were operated at overcharge conditions, resulting in an increase of the secondary fluid mass flow rate. The maximum COPs of the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were 1.22 and 1.35, respectively. The COP increased by 10.7% with the application of the bypass two-circuit multi cycle.
Multi-pass wet wire drawing process is used to produce fine wire in the industrial field. The production of fine wire through multi-pass wet wire drawing process with appropriate dies pass schedule would be impossible without understanding the relationship among many process parameters such as material properties, dies reduction, friction conditions, drawing speed etc However, in the industrial field, dies pass schedule of multi-pass wet wire drawing process has been executed by trial and error of experts. This study investigated the relationship among many process parameters quantitatively to obtain the important process information fur the appropriate pass schedule of multi-pass wet wire drawing process. Therefore, it is possible to predict the many important process parameters of multi-pass wet wire drawing process such as dies reduction, machine reduction, drawing force, backtension force, slip rate, slip velocity rate, power etc. The validity of the analyzed drawing force was verified by FE simulation and multi-pass wet wire drawing experiment. Also, pass redesign was performed based on the analyzed results, and the wire breakage between the original pass schedule and the redesigned pass schedule was compared through experiment.

Multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) system has attracted the 4th generation wireless network as one of core technique for performance enrichment. In this system rate control is a challenging problem and another problem is optimization. Proper scheduling can resolve these problems by deciding which set of user and at which rate the users send their data. This paper proposes a new multi-parameter based scheduling (MPS) for downlink multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system under space-time block coding (STBC) transmissions. Goal of this MPS scheme is to offer improved link level performance in terms of a low average bit error rate (BER), high packet delivery ratio (PDR) with improved resource utilization and service fairness among the user. This scheme allows the set of users to send data based on their channel quality and their demand rates. Simulation compares the MPS performance with other scheduling scheme such as fair scheduling (FS), normalized priority scheduling (NPS) and threshold based fair scheduling (TFS). The results obtained prove that MPS has significant improvement in average BER performance with improved resource utilization and fairness as compared to the other scheduling scheme.

Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) provides effective Internet Service accesses to users by utilizing multi-rate and multi-channel. In multi-rate networks, the Rate Anomaly (RA) problem occurs, the problem that low-rate link degrades the performance of high-rate link. In this paper we propose Rate Gap Minimum Channel Assignment (RGM-CA) protocol that select the minimal rate gap parent node and assign the channel in order to mitigates the rate anomaly problem. RDM-CA protocol is efficient because it consider rate anomaly, channel diversity and node connectivity.
The study investigated the effect of multi-functional fabric on the autonomic nervous function and psychological variables of 20 students. The experimental group exhibited lower values in anxiety, depression, fatigue and stress level and higher emotional level. This study reveals that multi-functional fabrics reduced the low frequency/high frequency power ratio of heart rate variability. These results support the multi-functional fabrics increases cardiac parasympathetic tone. In addition, experimental group were found to have lower heart rate compared with controls. This augmented heart rate in experiment provides support for stablizing autonomic nervous system. In conclusion, multi-functional fabrics may stabilize the autonomic nervous system and psychological symptoms.

The objective of this study is to analyze the energy saving rate by retrofitting multi air conditioner from conventional type to high efficient type using Energyplus 4.0 which was developed for simulating a building energy by D.O.E. Generally, Multi air conditioner system was installed for both the cooling and the heating in a building. However, it was difficult to estimate the energy saving rate in the case of retrofitting multi air conditioner from conventional type to high efficient type. In the present study, annual energy consumptions of them were evaluated for same building and climate condition.
This study deals with how stuttering changes in its frequency in a situation where adult participants who stutter are exposed to one type of background noise, that is, multi-talker babble noise. Eight American English-speaking adults who stutter participated in this study. Each of the subjects read aloud sentences under each of three speaking conditions (i.e., typical solo reading (TSR), typical choral reading (TCR), and multi-talker babble noise reading (BNR)). Speech fluency was computed based on a percentage of syllables stuttered (%SS) and speaking rate was also assessed to examine if there was significant change in rates as a measure of vocal change under each of the speaking conditions. The study found that participants read more fluently both during BNR and during TCR than during TSR. The study also found that participants did not show significant changes in speaking rate across the three speaking conditions. Some discussion was provided in relation to the effect of multi-talker babble noise on the frequency of stuttering and its further speculation.

This paper investigates the multi-pass wet wire drawing process considering the slip between the wire and the capstan. The production of fine wire through multi-pass wet wire drawing process would be impossible without backtension. The backtension is affected by many process parameters, such as slip, dies reduction, coiling number of wire at the capstan, machine reduction, characteristic of lubricant etc. Up to date, die design and dies pass schedule of multi-pass wet wire drawing process have been performed by trial and error of expert in the industrial field. In this study, an analysis program which can perform the analysis and considering the effect of slip at each capstan was developed. The effects of many important parameters (drawing force, backtension force, needed power, slip rate, slip velocity rate etc.) on multi-pass wet wire drawing process can be predicted by this developed program. It is possible to obtain the important basic data which can be used in the pass schedule of multi-pass wet wire drawing process by using this developed program.
