This paper presents an electrode shape design method for the multi-mode sensors that could deteict the selected structural multiple modes. The structure used for this study is an isotropic cantilever beam type with a PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) which is bonded onto the structure as a sensor. The shape optimization problem is solved by using Genetic Algorithm (GA) with an appropriate objective function. The performance of analytical optimal shape sensor is compared with that of experimental work. The results show that the, obtained electrode shape sensors have good performance to detect the multiple vibration modes simultaneously.
As a sub-system of an air traffic control system, SDP(Surveillance Data Processor) provides with the system tracks of aircraft using the surveillance sensor data from various air traffic surveillance sensors, such as radars. Therefore, the high accuracy of tracking results is a crucial requirement for safe flights, and verification of the required system performance of SDP is an essential step in development. Moreover, the quantitative evaluation of target tracking accuracy is important for newly developed SDP, since there are several tracking methods for Multi-Sensor Multi-Target Tracking, such as MRT(Multi Radar Tracking), inevitably required as the main function of SDP. In this study, definition of required system performances, establishment of test environment, and test results for MRT performance evaluation of SDP, which is being developed in KARI(Korea Airspace Research Institute) are presented.

A force/torque sensor using carbon fiber plate was designed and developed to make the sensor be able to measure a wide range of multi degree of force and torque. Using carbon fiber plate of 0.3 mm thickness, the sensor was designed and developed, which has a ${\mu}N$ level order of resolution and about 0.01 N ~ 390 N of wide measurement range. The elastic deformation part has a tripod plate structure and strain gauges are attached on the part to detect the force/torque. The coefficient of determination for the sensor is over 0.955 by the calibration experiment so that the linearity of the sensor is confirmed to be good. Also, experiments on applying 0.005 ~ 40 kg (0.05 ~ 390 N) to each axis were implemented and the sensor is proved to be safe under a high load. Finally, to verify the function calculating the direction of load vector, the directions of various load vectors which have the same magnitude but different directions and the directions of the calculated load vectors are compared and analyzed to accord well.

An LED sensor luminaire for visual function improvement necessitates the control algorithm for light level adjustment and the appropriate lens design. The control algorithm adapts to surround lighting condition, and thus has the advantages of energy saving and glare reduction. The multi-cell lens design improves color temperature uniformity and spatial light distribution of the luminaire. Experimental and simulated results show that this approach contributes noticeably to energy saving and color temperature uniformity of the LED sensor luminaire.

The reinforcement learning algorithm has proven its potential in solving sequential decision-making problems under uncertainties, such as finding paths to route data packets in wireless sensor networks. With reinforcement learning, the computation of the optimum path requires careful definition of the so-called reward function, which is defined as a linear function that aggregates multiple objective functions into a single objective to compute a numerical value (reward) to be maximized. In a typical defined linear reward function, the multiple objectives to be optimized are integrated in the form of a weighted sum with fixed weighting factors for all learning agents. This study proposes a reinforcement learning -based routing protocol for wireless sensor network, where different learning agents prioritize different objective goals by assigning weighting factors to the aggregated objectives of the reward function. We assign appropriate weighting factors to the objectives in the reward function of a sensor node according to its hop-count distance to the sink node. We expect this approach to enhance the effectiveness of multi-objective reinforcement learning for wireless sensor networks with a balanced trade-off among competing parameters. Furthermore, we propose SDN (Software Defined Networks) architecture with multiple controllers for constant network monitoring to allow learning agents to adapt according to the dynamics of the network conditions. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme enhances the performance of wireless sensor network under varied conditions, such as the node density and traffic intensity, with a good trade-off among competing performance metrics.
An evaluation method for oxygen permeable characteristics of the membrane covering to each cathode of multiple cathode - single anode type dissolved oxygen sensor, which has high reproducibility and is capable of measuring multiple components in solutions. For this purpose, a measuring circuit for the multiple cathode type DO sensor was designed to lower the noise signal by adapting a digital LPF to readout the sensor output accurately. Digital LPF is designed by setting up the transfer function to set the cutoff frequency to 10Hz, and the transfer function is programmed by C language, and then the filtering characteristics are evaluated with the simulation and experiments. Using this LPF added measuring circuit for the multiple cathode type DO sensor, we have obtained the calibration factor for each cathode to calibrate the variation of the output signals. The calibration factor was obtained by measuring the sensor output signal followed by oxygen partial pressure, using the same oxygen permeable membrane at each cathode of the multiple cathode type DO sensor.

The highly popular algorithm to determine routing path for the multi-hopping wireless sensor network is DSR(Dynamic Source Routing), which is one of the Demand-Driven way to makes the route only when there is a request for sending data. However, because DSR attaches the route's record on the sending packet, the bigger number of sensor node is, the heavier packet in DSR becomes. In this paper, we try to propose the new optimal routing path selecting algorithm which does not make the size of packet bigger by using proper routing table even though the number of sensor node increases, and we try to show our algorithm is more stable and reliable because it is based on the cost function considering some network resources of each sensor node such as power consumption, mobility, traffic in network, distance(hop) between source and destination.

In the ad-hoc wireless network environment, that the fixed sensor nodes and the sensor nodes to move are mixed, as the number of the sensor nodes with mobility are getting more, the costs to recover and maintain the whole network will increase more and more. This paper proposed the CDSR (Cost based Dynamic Source Routing) algorithm being motivated from the typical DSR algorithm, that is one of the reactive routing protocol. The cost function is defined through measuring the cost which any sensor node pays to participate in the whole network for communication. It is also showed in this paper that the proposed routing algorithm will increase the efficiency and life of whole sensor network through a series of experiments.

It is said that robot can be used for multi-purpose use by changing end effector or/and visual sensor with its software. In this study, it was investigated what multi-purpose robot for fruit-production was using a tomato harvesting robot and a robot to work in vineyard. Tomato harvesting robot consisted of manipulator, end-effector, visual sensor and traveling device. Plant training system of larger size tomato is similar with that of cherry-tomato. Two end-effectors were prepared for larger size tomato and cherry-tomato fruit harvesting operations, while the res components were not changed for the different work objects. A color TV camera could be used for the both work objects, however fruit detecting algorithm and extracted features from image should be changed. As for the grape-robot , several end-effector for harvesting , berry thinning , bagging and spraying were developed and experimented after attaching each end-effector to manipulator end. The manipulator was a polar coordinate type and had five degrees of freedom so that it could have enough working space for the operations. It was observed that visual sensor was necessary for harvesting, bagging and berry-thinning operations and that spraying operation requires another sensor for keeping certain distance between trellis and end-effector. From the experimental results, it was considered that multi-operations by the same robot could be appropriately done on the same or similar plant training system changing some robot components . One of the important results on having function of multi-operation was to be able to make working period of the robot longer.
Energy efficiency is the main objective in the design of a wireless sensor network (WSN). In many applications, sensing data must be transmitted from sources to a sink in a timely manner. This paper describes an investigation of the trade-off between two objectives in WSN design: minimizing energy consumption and minimizing end-to-end delay. We first propose a new distributed clustering approach to determining the best clusterhead for each cluster by considering both energy consumption and end-to-end delay requirements. Next, we propose a new energy-cost function and a new end-to-end delay function for use in an inter-cluster routing algorithm. We present a multi-hop routing algorithm for use in disseminating sensing data from clusterheads to a sink at the minimum energy cost subject to an end-to-end delay constraint. The results of a simulation are consistent with our theoretical analysis results and show that our proposed performs much better than similar protocols in terms of energy consumption and end-to-end delay.
