Multi-code CDMA is an appropriate scheme for transmitting high rate data. However, dynamic range of the signal is large, and power amplifier with good linearity is required. Code select CDMA (CS/CDMA) is a variation of multi-code CDMA scheme that ensures constant amplitude transmission. In CS/CDMA input data selects multiple orthogonal codes, and sum of these selected codes are MPSK modulated to convert multi-level symbol into different carrier phases. CS/CDMA system employs level clipping to limit the number of levels at the output symbol to avoid hish density of signal constellation. In our previous work we showed that by encoding input data of CS/CDMA amplitude of the output symbol can be made constant. With this coding scheme, level clipping is not necessary and the output signal can be BPSK modulated for transmission. In this paper we show that the constant amplitude coded(CA-) CS/CDMA transmitter can be implemented using only logic gates, and the hardware complexity is very low. In the proposed transmitter architecture there is no apparent redundant encoder block which plays a major role in the constant amplitude coded CS/CDMA.

The navigation system like GPS which is core technology is based on Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) techniques. To receive satellite signal smoothly in CDMA, received signals have to synchronize with spread code. In this paper, we focus on the code tracking methods among synchronization techniques. The conventional delay lock loop(DLL) is unsuitable for multi-path channel. We will introduce how it overcomes distortion by multi-path. We will propose method that separates out multi-path signals and tracks the each path signals. And we will confirm performance of proposed method using Spirent simulator.

To improve the bandwidth efficiency of conventional orthogonal modulation, the MCTO(Multi-Code Trans-Orthogonal) modulation, which is modified orthogonal modulation, was proposed. However, the RF(Radio Frequency) power amplifier for the MCTO modulation is too complex to reject the amplitude distortion due to the non-constant amplitude property of the MCTO. Therefore, in this paper, CAMCTO(constant-amplitude multi-code trans-orthogonal) modulation is proposed by using the constant-amplitude encoding algorithm for multi-code signal. Additionally, the performance of the proposed CAMCTO modulation is compared with those of the orthogonal modulation and the MCTO modulation by using the computer simulation. The computer simulations show that the bandwidth efficiency of the proposed CAMCTO modulation is better than that of the conventional orthogonal modulation.

In this paper, we explain the combined scheme of multi-code modulation and trans-orthogonal modulation. The name of the explained scheme is the multi-code trans-orthogonal modulation. Additionally, we propose a multi-code trans-biorthogonal modulation scheme, which is a little more improved multi-code trans-orthogonal modulation. We show the performance of the proposed schemes and compare the performance of the proposed schemes with the orthogonal modulation by using the computer simulation. According to the computer simulations, we can know that the bandwidth efficiency of the proposed schemes is better than that of the conventional orthogonal modulation. The proposed schemes can be used in physical layer of digital wireless telecommunication system to provide high speed data rate.
Since the publication of Alamouti's famous space-time block code, various quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes (QSTBC) for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) fading channels for more than two transmit antennas have been proposed. It has been shown that these codes cannot achieve full diversity at full rate. In this paper, we present a simple feedback scheme for rich scattering (flat Rayleigh fading) MIMO channels that improves the coding gain and diversity of a QSTBC for 2$^n$ (n=3, 4, ${\cdots}$) transmit antennas. The relevant channel state information is sent back from the receiver to the transmitter quantized to one or two bits per code block. In this way, signal transmission with an improved coding gain and diversity near to the maximum diversity order is achieved. Such high diversity can be exploited with either a maximum-likelihood receiver or low-complexity zero-forcing receiver.

MultiCode-CDMA (MC-CDMA) system of chip level MPSK incorporating with clipper (MP-CDMA)[l] shows constant envelope signal which can mitigate the performance degradation due to nonlinear transmit amplifier. In this paper, modulation is modified to carry out differential encoded MPSK rather than MPSK. The modified system is called DMP-CDMA. DMP-CDMA using differential detection has advantages on receiver complexity and pilot overhead. However, it is inferior to coherent detection by about 4.0dB due to inherent power inefficiency of noncoherent detection and the error propagation. Multiple symbol differential detection is employed in order to improve DMP-CDMA using differential detection. As the result, the performance of DMP-CDMA system is improved about 3.6dB compared to differential detection.

A multi-media variable processing gain DS/CDMA system are considered. Two types of information sources with different rates and transmitting powers are assumed to be stransmitted simultaneously in the same channel. Average signal-to-noise ratios at the correlation receiver outputs for each type of information sources are analytically derived as funtions of partial cross-correlations between spreading code sequences. As the difference of information rates between information sources increase, the difference between signal-to-noise ratio regarding random spreading code and that regarding pseudo random spreading code increases (maximum 1.3dB). The result can provide a analytical tools for use in multi-media DS/CDMA system design.
Communication systems, including cell-based mobile communication systems, multiple satellite communication systems of multi-beam satellite systems, require reliable handoff methods between cell-to-cell, satellite-to-satellite of beam-to-team, respectively. Recent measurement of a CDMA cellular system indicates that the system is in handoff at about 35% to 70% of an average call period. Therefore, system reliability during handoff is one of the major system performance parameters and eventually becomes a factor in the overall system capacity. This paper presents novel and improved techniques for handoff in cellular communications, multi-beam and multi-satellite systems that require handoff during a session. this new handoff system combines the soft handoff mechanism currently implemented in the IS-95 CDMA with code and packet diversity combining techniques and an iterative decoding algorithm (Turbo Coding). the Turbo code introduced by Berrou et all. has been demonstrated its remarkable performance achieving the near Shannon channel capacity [1]. Recently. Turbo codes have been adapted as the coding scheme for the data transmission of the third generation international cellular communication standards : UTRA and CDMA 2000. Our proposed encoder and decoder schemes modified from the original Turbo code is suitable for the code and packet diversity combining techniques. this proposed system provides not only an unprecedented coding gain from the Turbo code and it iterative decoding, but also gain induced by the code and packet diversity combining technique which is similar to the hybrid Type II ARQ. We demonstrate performance improvements in AWGN channel and Rayleigh fading channel with perfect channel state information (CSI) through simulations for at low signal to noise ratio and analysis using exact upper bounding techniques for medium to high signal to noise ratio.

The reverse link signal power required for multimedia traffic in multipath faded single-code (SC-) and multi-code CDMA (MC-CDMA) systems is investigated. The effect of orthogonality loss among multiple spreading code channels is herein characterized by the orthogonality factor. The required signal power in both the CDMA systems is then analyzed in terms of the relative required signal power ratio of data to voice traffic. The effect of varying system parameters including spreading bandwidth, the of orthogonality factor, and the number of spreading codes are examined. Analytical results show that MC-CDMA users transmitting only a single traffic type require significantly more power than SC-CDMA users with only a single traffic type. On the other hand, MC-CDMA users transmitting multimedia traffic require power levels approximately identical to SC-CDMA users with multimedia traffic. The results can be used in the design of radio resource management (e.g., power allocation) scheme for wireless multimedia services.
A multi-code biorthogonal code keying (MBCK) system consists of multiple waveform coding blocks, and the sum of output codewords is transmitted. Drawback of MBCK is that it requires amplifier with high linearity because its output symbol is multi-level. MBCK with constant amplitude precoding block (CA-MBCK) has been proposed, which guarantees sum of orthogonal codes to have constant amplitude. The precoding block in CA-MBCK is a redundant waveform coder whose input bits are generated by processing the information bits. Redundant bits of constant amplitude coded CA-MBCK are not only used to make constant amplitude signal but also used to improve the BER performance at the receiver. In this paper, we proposed a transmission scheme which combines CA-MBCK with $Q^2PSK$ modulation to improve bandwidth efficiency of CA-MBCK and also uses chip interleaving to maintain a constant amplitude feature of CA-MBCK. bandwidth efficiency of a proposed transmission scheme is increased fourfold. And the BER performance of the scheme is same as that of CA-MBCK.
