수요변화에 따른 영화 상영관 입지의 공간적 재구조화 (Spatial Restructuring of Movie Theather Locations)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the restructuring processes of the locations of service industry whose demand has been decrease rapidly. The demand of movie theater has been change dramatically during the last three decades. the spatial distribution patterns of movie theaters have been changed according to the changes in the demand. In order to investigate the locational charateristics of movie theaters, in seoul we surveyed the consumer's behavior. We focused on the study to examine the relationships between the locations of movie theaters and transportation development. Especially, We look at the impacts of the development of subway networks on the locations of movie theaters in Seoul. The dvelopment of subway networks has played a very of movie theaters location. The hierarchicla structures of movie theaters have also chaged. Inspite of declining in the demand for movie theater, the number of first-run movie theaters has been increased continuously. The number of second-run movie theaters has been decreased dramatically. Some of them has been upgraded to first-run theater and some of them has been smallized. But, most of them have been closed. An the other hand the quality of movie theater facilities tends to be higher, while the sizes of movie theaters tends to be smallized.

A study on Developmental and Constraint Factors of Sports Movie

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to generate industrial insights for developing sports movie industry. Related studies are scare. Research design, data, and methodology: The study employed case study and selected typical case samples who seem informative about sport movie industry. The authors interviewed six experts who are experienced in sport movie and related academic sector. Interviews were audio-taped and the text were decoded by multiple reading. Through this process, the study categorized significant meanings and produced results. Interviewees reviewed again the final findings to confirm validity, which calls member check. Results: It was suggested that developmental factors of sports movie were the realization of realistic sports scenes by using technologies. Second, participants told that contents of sport movie need to reflect real stories and it should tell the stories. Regarding constraints of sport movies, movie producers feel difficulty to make scenes in that sports are inherently quickly performed. Another constraints are that production cost is expensive but audiences are barely attended. Conclusions: For promoting economic outcomes and developing sport movie industry, government needs to financially support related markets to support sport movie producers assisting them to concentrate their movie works. Future directions for related-studies were discussed.

영화 "마더"를 통해 본 침의 의미 분석 -영화인들을 대상으로 하여- (Analysis of the Meaning of Acupuncture in the Korean Movie "Mother" Through Interviews with Movie Professionals)

  • Objectives : Korean director Bong Joon-ho's movie 'Mother' is a story about a woman who struggles to save her son from an indictment of murder. This movie premiered at the 2009 Cannes film festival. The present study aimed to investigate the various roles of acupuncture in the plot from the perspective of movie professionals, including critics, writers and producers. Methods : We investigated the meaning of acupuncture as a subject matter in this movie. Participants who work in the film industry or are studying film were included. Survey questions were organized in a two part open-ended questionnaire and in multiple-choice form. The questionnaires were distributed via e-mail or the subjects were contacted directly. Results: In this movie, acupuncture serves at least three roles. The first role it serves is as a symbol of the mother role in her son's life and in her community. Acupuncture also works as a conduit for communication and a means of earning a living for the mother. She strives to clear her son's name by discovering the real murderer through performing acupuncture. Finally, the acupuncture box is crucial in the son's understanding of the mother's role in the crime. Seventy-nine percent of those surveyed responded that acupuncture was an important motif in this movie. Conclusions : These findings, in addition to those of previous studies, suggest that acupuncture can serve as a useful context for mass communication in media. The understanding of the meaning of acupuncture in the movie provides useful information on the perception of acupuncture modality today.

  • In 1970s, Computer Graphics of still and geometry changed computer Animation of image, and Computer Animation has diversely been used in movie, TV, fashion, sports, education, basic science, medical science, etc. by the development of LSI technology and the large size of computer in 1980s. Since Computer Animation was first used by movie of Futureworld in 1973, we easily experienced the essence of Computer Animation made of the Little Mermaid. Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Aladdin, etc. in Disney Animation and Terminator. Jurassic Park, the Mask, etc. in movie. And in other countries that have got the diversely special effect and knowhow in technology are effectively using the Computer Animation now. What situation we Korea are in now, if we compare the Computer Animation with that of other country using the progressive movie\ulcorner Although we first producted the movie title of Ticket, 10years ago, we have rarely been used it in movie, yet. Therefore, we know that it is very important for us to examine the historical and technical side for the purpose of overcoming the technological gap.

영화의 유통전략에 대한 연구: 심플렉스 해법을 중심으로 (Cost Distribution Strategies in the Film Industry: the Simplex Method)

  • Purpose - High quality films are affected by both the production stage and various variables such as the size of the movie investment and marketing that changes consumers' perceptions. Consumer preferences should be recognized first to ensure that the movie is successful. If a film is produced without pre-investigation and analysis of consumer demand and taste, the probability of success will be low. This study investigates the balance of production costs, marketing costs, and profits using game theory, suggesting an optimization strategy using the simplex method of linear programming. Research design, data, and methodology - Before the release of the movie, initial demand is assumed to be driven largely by marketing costs. In the next phase, demand is assumed to be driven purely by a movie's production cost and quality, which might also further determine consumer demand. Thus, it is essential to determine how to distribute pure production costs and other costs (marketing) in a limited movie production budget. Moreover, it should be taken into account how to optimally distribute under the assumption that the audience and production company's input resources are limited. This research simplifies the assumptions for large-scale and relatively small-scale movie investments and examines how movie distribution participant profits differ when each cost is invested differently. Results - When first movers or market leaders have to choose both quality and marketing, it has been proven that pursuing a strategy choosing only one is more likely than choosing both. In this situation, market leaders should maximize marketing costs under the premise that market leaders will not lag their quality behind the quality of second movers. Additionally, focusing on movie marketing that produces a quick effect while ceding creative activity to increase movie quality is a natural outcome in the movie distribution environment since a cooperative strategy between market competitors is not feasible. Conclusions - Government film development policy should ignore quality competition between movie production companies and focus on preventing marketing competition. If movie production companies focus on movie production quality improvement then a creative competition would ensue.

SF 영화 세트 디자인의 표현 유형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expression Style of the Sci-Fi Movie Set Design)

  • In the Sci-Fi movie, with future scene in its setting, how images are shown in the film is very important. Sci-Fi movie is supposed to be expressed In different way of its set design. This study suggests various types of expression in Sci-Fi movies. Sci-Fi movies construct the narrative upon the binary opposition of nature vs. culture, human vs. nonhuman. Sci-Fi movie is a contested terrain where conservative, liberal and radical ideologies are competing. While liberal Sci-Fi movies consider the opposition compatible, conservative texts show the paranoid towards science and nonhumans. And, Sci-Fi movies are expressed as utopian and dystopian. Utopian and dystopian elements are found in the history of architecture. Utopian element is often found in the religious architecture, and those buildings are geometric, orderly, and gorgeous. Dystopian element is often found in modern architecture, and those are asymmetric, distorted, and incompleted. Conservative movie, which developing of science is expressed negatively, retains both utopian and dystopian elements evenly. Liberal movie, such as Space Opera which science is expressed positively, is changed from futurist and mechanical type into more simple, geometric and orderly shrine type. Radical movie, which the boundary of human and science is expressed darkly, retains dark, complex, and incomplete dystopian expression elements.

Modeling of Convolutional Neural Network-based Recommendation System

  • Collaborative filtering is one of the commonly used methods in the web recommendation system. Numerous researches on the collaborative filtering proposed the numbers of measures for enhancing the accuracy. This study suggests the movie recommendation system applied with Word2Vec and ensemble convolutional neural networks. First, user sentences and movie sentences are made from the user, movie, and rating information. Then, the user sentences and movie sentences are input into Word2Vec to figure out the user vector and movie vector. The user vector is input on the user convolutional model while the movie vector is input on the movie convolutional model. These user and movie convolutional models are connected to the fully-connected neural network model. Ultimately, the output layer of the fully-connected neural network model outputs the forecasts for user, movie, and rating. The test result showed that the system proposed in this study showed higher accuracy than the conventional cooperative filtering system and Word2Vec and deep neural network-based system suggested in the similar researches. The Word2Vec and deep neural network-based recommendation system is expected to help in enhancing the satisfaction while considering about the characteristics of users.

  • Movie is one of the most popular culture ac-tivities in modern society and the composite rt of science and art born in the 20th century. Movie became the great source of setting the fashion. Especially movie costume brought into relief and was accepted by the mass. As a movie stimulates imitation psychology and identification of the general public in fashion. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the movie costume to a modern mass fashion. The times was defined the movies from the early Silent era to the modern Hollywood movie from the late of 1910 to 1990. The way of study were to analyze on the changes and roles of movie costume through documentary records and the influence of set-ting the fashion to the mass fashion and classi-fied it five times-silent era classics neo-classics new look and modern times. The summary of result is as follows, 1, Movie costume affected the dress and the fashion of women is Silent era. That fashion was accelerated by actors' costumes in the mode of 1920. 2. Holloywood movies in the Classics show the essence of the fashion movie costume played a role of a fashion leader and commanded the trend of mass fashion. 3. Practical style was shown because of the war in the Neo-classics. Movie industry was prosperous after the war. But the consequences of the movie costume to the mass fashion were more and more weaken 4. Couture designer's costume had an effect on the mass fashion in the early of New look. But it was behind the fashion for the rise of young fashion. 5. The tastes of the fashion were diversified in Modern times. So the movie fashion was not imitated or popular. The costume of "Pret-a-porter" was used in the movies in the 1980. Spectators became to wear the same style of the actors. The times fashion and movie interacted each other. Movie costume is playing a role of a fashion leader guiding the mass fashion.s fashion.

영화를 통한 공학교육과 인문학의 만남 (The Meeting between Engineering Education and Humanities through a Movie)

  • The purpose of this paper is to find a method to combine engineering education and the humanities by means of the movie genre. Although the science technology has developed and our living standard has improved, humanities has a tendency to be underestimated. Humanities has been treated as something antiquated, uninteresting or worn-out because it has no economic value or usefulness in itself. Engineering students need flexible, analytic and critical thought as well as the qualities in constructing key questions and trying to solve themselves. Communicative and understanding abilities are also required to them. Movies as a constructive visual device show problems with the reality. Especially, the science-related movie genre offers them an opportunity to think over why humanities matters as well as what matters in human being. The movies make engineering students think, discuss and argue on the humanity.

  • 복합 영화관은 여러 계층 및 연령대의 불특정다수인이 동시에 영화를 편안하게 즐길 수 있는 문화공간이다. 이러한 다중이 이용하는 시설은 다른 일반 소방대상물에 비하여 상대적으로 안전에 취약한 점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 국내에 있는 기존의 복합 상영관의 대표적인 모델을 선정하여 화재 및 피난시뮬레이션을 실시하여 피난안전에 대한 문제점을 분석하고, 각국의 관련기준과 비교하여 화재안전성능 확보에 필요한 내용을 파악하였다.
