아웃도어 웨어 기능성 요구에 따른 스마트 아웃도어 재킷 설계시안 (Draft Proposal of Smart Outdoor Wear upon the Outdoor Wear Functionality Demand)

  • This study revealed the results related to the functionality of outdoor wear required when man and women in their 30s to 50s engage in outdoor activities. Based on the results of the survey, we proposed composition draft for a smart outdoor jacket with main functions of GPS device and light-emitting device using solar cell and EL. Absorption and release of sweat, functionality regarding rain and wind, and lightweightness, etc. from material functionalities of outdoor wear were found to be important. From function required in clothing for outdoor activity, location tracking, night glow, and lighting functions were found to be most important. For results investigating the necessity of the jacket's location tracking function and lighting function using solar cell, high scores of 3.9~4.0 were given. Purchase intentions for smart outdoor jacket with location tracking and lighting functions devised by this study were fairly positive and most responses indicated that the appropriate purchase price was between 200,000 to 300,000 won while possible problems of this smart outdoor jacket were listed in the order of washing inconvenience, high price, device weight, and discomfort in movement. The draft proposal to integrate with wearable devices for smart outdoor jacket prototype is as follows: Solar cell has been attached to the upper arm but placed inside a transparent pocket which has been detachable for washing convenience while the solar cell and controller have been integrated into a single unit. Using frequent movement exhibited by the arms, EL has been attached along the center line of the raglan sleeve for easy spotting when used as an emergency signal or for night lighting function during outdoor activity. GPS has been attached on the left sleeve so that the person can bend the left arm inward and operate the GPS screen with the right hand while walking or running outdoors.

무용동작을 위한 밑위길이에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Crotch Length for Dance Movement)

  • The purpose of this study was to offer a more functional slacks by analyzing its crotch length. The result of the study were as follows : Regarding the feeling of wearing and appearance, the P2 b style which measures the crotch length starting from the waist line passing around the iliac spine was the most highly evaluated. This suggested that the functionality of dance movement was more influenced by the position of the waist line not by the crotch length measurement. Since the front and rear center lines of the crotch could not be flown if the waist line of slacks was positioned high, both the crotch and abdominal part might be clogged or tightened when dancers made large dance movements or bended their upper bodies forward. In conclusion, slacks for more functional dance movement should be manufactured focusing on the location of the waist line rather than on the crotch length.

On Flexibility in Architecture Focused on the Contradiction in Designing Flexible Space and Its Design Proposition

  • Since Modern Movement flexibility has been one of the most attractive words in architecture. However, "overprovision first, division later" has been the most prevailing design method for spatial flexibility, and many of buildings designed for flexible use are practically quite inflexible due to insufficient building systems or/and irresponsible planning. There have been two dominant strategies to achieve architectural flexibility: multi-functionality and polyvalence. These two approaches, which point contradictory directions, actually reflect the difficulty in providing a proper form of architectural flexibility. Multi-functionality can afford changeable environments with satisfying spatial conditions; however it lacks tolerance to accommodate other uses but intended functions by architects. Meanwhile, flexibility by a polyvalent form relies on the vague anticipation of user's various interpretations. In this study by looking up these two different standpoints and historical precedents flexibility in architecture is carefully scrutinized focused on the contradiction, and as an alternative for architectural flexibility contextual relations is proposed. Unlike both multi-functionality and polyvalence, which produce flexibility by changing its own properties, manipulating contextual relations infuses flexibility into space by changing the properties of a building, not of its individual room. By using this contextual relations method, a community-centered school in Manhattan, NY, which was in danger of being closed because of its academic failure, is represented as a flexible space.

Heliostat 제어시스템 (Heliostat Control System)

  • Heliostat in the tower type solar thermal power plant is a mirror system tracking the sun's movement to collect the solar energy and it is the most important subsystem determining the efficiency of solar thermal power plant. Thus a good performance of it, which is mostly the accurate sun tracking performance under the various hazardous operating condition, is required. Heliostat control system is a system to manage the heliostat sun tracking movement and other operations. It also communicates with the master controller through the heliostat filed control system to receive and send the informations required to operate the heliostat as a part of the solar thermal power plant. This study presents a heliostat control system designed and developed for the 1MW solar thermal power plant. We first define the functionality of heliostat control system. Then sun tracking controller as well as the sun tracking algorithm satisfying the required functionality have been developed. We tested the developed heliostat control system and it showed a good performance in regulation of heliostat motion and communication.

LED LIGHTING을 활용한 스포츠 재킷 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Sports Jackets Using LED LIGHTING)

  • In this study, we provided examples of light emitting diodes (LEDS) in everyday sportswear and confirmed their usefulness to provide functionality, aesthetics, and entertainment. One type of sports jacket and one set of sportswear were designed and manufactured using LEDs and made available to the general public for use in daily life to provide functionality, aesthetics, and entertainment. To generate digital images, a textural design of a circuit image was developed and applied, and the LEDs were placed on the developed textile in an attempt to merge the LEDs with the design. The product was equipped with a tilt sensor and produced a randomly lighted jacket with LEDs that adjusted according to movement. The LEDs turned on in the desired location by lifting the arm during night sports activities. The tricolor of NEO PIXEL LEDs lit randomly and its rhythmical design could be maximized when moving or exercising outdoors, and also for entertainment. The role of creating interest for lively and unexpected pleasures and the aesthetic beauty of LED lights were also obtained. There was no inconvenience or restriction of movement by LEDs or internal structures using the hot-melting technique, and the removable attachment of the device made it easier to wash.

데니쉬 모던을 바탕으로 한 아르네 야콥센의 공간디자인 특성 - 건축 공간 프로젝트를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Design Characteristics of Arne Jacobsen based on Danish Modern - Focused on the Architectural Space Project -)

  • Danish Modern has been recognized as simple and comfortable design movement that was matched with its unique regional environment. There are various internationally well known designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton. Danish Modern movement and International style had vital role to activate these designers' ideas and design quality. This paper aims to study the background and design characteristics of Danish Modern movement as well as some of the spatial projects by Arne Jacobsen. Furniture design of Jacobsen were already throughly studied in various researches. However his spatial projects such as architectural buildings and interior designs were not. This study analyzes three major architectural projects based on the four characteristics of Danish Modern: Formal Simplicity, Simple Functionality, Regional Contextuality, Reasonable Amusement. After the case study, this study discovered that Danish Modern characteristics had unique roles in the design process of Jacobsen's projects. Danish Modern is still valid design philosophy that can be applied to contemporary society.

A Study on the Difference in Consumer Demand of Leports Wear and Its Implication for Apparel Development by the Types of Motivation to Participate in Marine Leisure Sports

  • 본 연구는 레저스포츠 참여동기를 유형화하고 그 유형에 따라 레저스포츠웨어에 대한 소비자의 요구 차이를 분석하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 선호 소재의 기능성은 움직임, 쾌적성, 체온유지 등으로 구성되었고, 구매 시 고려요인은 기본 중시, 과시성 중시, 실용성 중시 등 3개의 하위요인이 추출되었다. 개선 요구사항은 기본 기능 개선과 다양한 기능 추가 요인으로 구성되었고, 구매 만족 요인은 브랜드와 실용성, 디자인, 기능성 등 3개의 요인으로 구성되었다. 해양 레저스포츠 참여동기는 매니아, 여가, 건강 유형으로 그룹화되었다. 선호 소재의 기능성은 매니아 유형과 여가 유형이 건강 유형보다 움직임, 쾌적성, 체온유지 기능성을 선호하였다. 구매 시 고려요인은 매니아 유형과 여가 유형이 건강 유형보다 기본 중시, 과시성 중시, 실용성 중시 요인에 대한 고려가 더 높았다. 개선 요구사항에서는 기본기능 개선과 다양한 기능 추가 모두 매니아 유형이 가장 높고 건강 유형이 가장 낮았다. 구매 만족 요인에서는 실용성과 브랜드는 여가 유형이 높았고, 기능성 요인은 매니아 유형과 건강 유형이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 매니아층을 위해서는 기능성과 추가기능에 초점을 맞추고 건강 유형은 디자인이나 활용도 등을 중심으로 제품 개발이 이루어져야 할 것으로 생각된다.

마린 세르 패션 컬렉션에 나타난 지속가능 디자인 특성 (Characteristics of sustainable fashion design in Marine Serre collection)

  • This study aimed to explore sustainable fashion design plans and directions by analyzing Marine Serre's collection. Previous research was reviewed to derive classifications of the aesthetic characteristics of sustainable fashion design. This classification was then used to analyze the characteristics of the Marine Serre collection. Design analysis was conducted on Marine Serre's 2018 FW to 2023 SS collections. Marine Serre's sustainability characteristics are functionality, surprise, handicraft, and inclusion. The results are as follows. First, functionality is the highest among the four characteristics and includes the functionality of movement, the functionality of form, and futurism. This characteristic was observed in the use of all-in-one body suits, pockets, and workwear, showing the will and values of designers who value daily activity. Second, surprise includes the scarcity of materials and the unexpectedness of composition. The value of the clothing is enhanced by the use of scarce materials not typically used in clothing. In addition, Marine Serre is highly regarded for expanding clothing into life by incorporating material upcycling into the theme of the collection. Third, handcrafted features include exaggerated decorations, logo, retro designs, and natural properties, and intentional utilization is differentiated. Marine Serre's signature pattern suggests a suitable expression for the fabric to use the crescent moon for the season. Fourth, the collection expresses themes of inclusivity and cultural diversity. The results indicate that Marine Serre wants to contribute to a better future characterized by global coexistence.

30대 남성복 슬림 핏 재킷의 버튼 수에 따른 재킷원형 개발 제1보 - 여유분을 중심으로 - (Patternmaking of slim-fit jacket sloper for men in their 30's according to numbers of jacket buttons Part 1 - Focusing on ease -)

  • This study aims to suggest the proper ease for slim-fit jackets according to the number of buttons from a one-button jacket to four-button jackets for men in their 30's. The researchers carried out both an appearance evaluation and movement functionality evaluation. The results are as follows: When conducting the appearance evaluations, meaningful differences were found. The one-button jacket showed high scores for the 7.5 cm ease. The two-button jacket and the three-button jacket showed high scores for the 10.5 cm ease. The four-button jacket showed a high score for the 13.5 cm ease. Next, the results of the movement functionality evaluation showed the same trend; as the ease was increased from 7.5 cm to 13.5 cm, the scores increased. This is because if the garments offer more ease, this gives room for actions. Additionally, it showed that if there were fewer jacket buttons, then the results showed a high score. The researchers believe that if the number of jacket buttons is lower, then the area of the V-zone increases, so that there is more room for movement. The study suggests a proper chest ease of 7.5 cm for the one-button jacket, 10.5 cm for the two-button jacket and three-button jacket, and 13.5 cm for the four-button jacket, respectively.

의용소방대의 근무복 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Working Uniform for Volunteer Fire Brigade Members)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the wearing practices and problems in the working uniform for volunteer fire brigade members and then to develop its design with a improved movement adaptability, physical suitability, ease for equipment accommodation, functionality, convenience and fit. Based on the questionnaire, we have made a testing uniform for volunteer fire brigade members first. Through a subjective analysis for functionality and apparence, we suggested a final design. The final design includes the following elements: 1. It was a two-piece style composed of a jumper and trousers with the upper garments pulled out. Raglan sleeves were used to increase arm's movement scope. Pleats and velcro tapes were attached along the base hem of sleeves to prevent heat transmission. 2. Various types of pockets were attached to secure enough space for keeping things. 3. In trousers, spare space was given at the buttock area with rubber string inserted only at selected part of side lines, and knee pads were attached to prevent wearing out.
