Development of robot control system using DSP (DSP를 이용한 로보트 제어시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, the design and the implementation of the controller for an articulate robot, which is developed in our Automatic Control Laboratory, are mainly discussed. The controller reduces software computational load via distributed processing method using multiple CPU's, and simplifies structures by the time-division control with TMS320C31 DSP chip. The method of control is based on the fuzzy-compensated PID control with scale factor, which compensates for the influence of load variation resulting from the various postures of the robot with conventional PID scheme. The application of the proposed controller to the robot system with DC servo-motors shows some excellent control capabilities. Also, the response characteristics of system for the various trajectory commands verify the superiority of the controller.

Sensorless Control of Brushless DC Motors based on TMS320F2812

  • A new sensorless control strategy for brushless DC (BLDC) motors is proposed in this paper. This technique builds a rotor position-related flux function, which is independent of the speed. By observing the flux function, the information of rotor position and commutation can be obtained. As the function is not speed-related, this control process can be used in a wider range of speed and improves the motor's performance during startup. An experimental test bad based on TMS320F2812 has been built, and the experimental result indicates that the motor achieves a smooth starting-up and stable phase commutation with the proposed control strategy.

  • This paper shows a calculation method of several types of loss and the efficiency of brushless DC motors coupled with a load system by using a simple equivalent circuit, in which copper loss, eddy current loss, hysteresis loss, friction loss, viscous loss, and inverter loss are taken into account. We clarify each loss and motor efficiency at different motor speeds and different output torques by using the Microsoft-Excel. Moreover, the calculated results are in good agreement with the measured ones.

  • In this paper, Computer Colour Matching and Kitchen System (CCMKS) is developed on the basis of delphi package and one-chip processor with fuzzy-PID control. CCMKS will be widely used in the colour dyeing industry as an integrated colour matching and dispensing system which have more advantages than the conventional matching or dispensing system, when controlling the real dyeing processes. Delphi is utilized in making database and search/matching routes. The developed matching function reduces the search and matching time to about one third. One-chip processor is designed and manufactured for the distributed control of three-phase induction motors. Fuzzy-PID control is applied to the speed control of three-phase induction motors for a very precise weight of colour at CCMKS. The developed kitchen function decreases the dispensing time to about one twentieth. The experimental results show CCMKS has more excellent search time, more precise weight and much high fidelity than conventional colour matching or dispensing system, in the performance.

  • We have constructed loading apparatuses to electrical motor with a powder brake and a oil pump for load test of a several ten kilowatt-motor and performed load test with two motors. On operating the loading apparatus with a oil pump, temperature of the oil may excessively increase and fail to operate due to dynamic energy loss of equipment in oil loop. In order to control the oil temperature, factors of the energy loss were analyzed and the quantitative loss was calculated. Load tests of motors with two loading apparatuses constructed were successfully performed and strengths of each apparatus come out on operating.

  • Conventionally, when we need to know about the dynamic characteristics of motors, the moving band method has been the first considerable technique. In this paper, we have investigated the moving material method that moves the property of the material in moving area elements of BLDC motors, instead of moving mesh elements of the rotor. From this method, we can reduce the demanded HDD memory for FEM analysis and the calculation time with same results.

  • The thrust force of moving magnet-type linear direct current motors(MM-LDM) is analyzed in this study. A moving magnet-type LDM consists of a stator and a carriage. The stator is composed of two stick shaped electro magnetics and the carriage consists of a movable permanent magnet that is located between the two electromagnets. The method for calculating the thrust force of an MM-LDM is to analyze the energy gradient which is determined by the distribution of magnetic flux. And this paper describes the development of the generalized machine theory for d.c. linear motors and its application to determine the motor parameters.

  • This paper presents the calculation method for the equivalent-circuit parameters and torque characteristics of squirrel-cage induction motors. The measurement of motor parameters were calculated by the stator resistance test, the blocked rotor test and no load test to T type equivalent-circuit. Especially, this paper describes the test results obtained by using hall sensor and strain gauge for the current and torque characteristics of induction motors. Three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor which has 1[hp] was used to the test and the parameters obtained by the test were compared with the maker parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust adaptive backstepping control of induction motors with uncertainties using nonlinear disturbance observer(NDO). The proposed NDO is applied to estimate the time-varying lumped uncertainty which are derived from unknown motor parameters and load torque, but NDO error does not converge to zero since the derivate of lumped uncertainty is not zero. Then the fuzzy neural network(FNN) is presented to estimate the NDO error such that the rotor speed to converge to a small neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Rotor flux and inverse time constant are estimated by the sliding mode adaptive flux observer. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • This paper presents parameter measurement for permanent magnet synchronous motors based on the P-Q circle diagram. Three electrical parameters of permanent magnet synchronous motors, i.e., the equivalent iron loss resistance, armature inductance, and electrical motive force (emf) coefficient are simultaneously measured. The advantages of this method are that it can be implemented under constant excitation and it dispenses with the generating test for the emf coefficient. The proposed method is applied to a 160w permanent magnet synchronous motor, and then the measurement results are analyzed.
