  • Indirect vector control for induction motors requires the use of observers for estimation or observation of rotor flux magnitude and position. In this paper, authors discribe the induction motor vector control and introduce a nonlinear observer, named ELO(extended Luenberger Observer), without simulation results as a preliminary work for trial application. Normally, design of nonlinear observer need coordinate transfromation and linearization through solving the partial different equation. However, ELO requires minimal solution of nonlinear partial differential equation. Simulation was performed by under the enviroment of Matlab and Simulink without the proposed observer because we are still working. Simulation was performed with conventional flux observer, a dc-ac inverter by SVPWM technique, a vector controller armed with multiple PI controllers

  • In this paper, a commutation torque minimization method using parameter observer for a brushless DC motor fed by a voltage source inverter is described. In order to investigate the nature of the commutation torque ripple in trapezoidal brushless DC motor, a new model of the motor is proposed. The optimal drive voltage to minimize the ripple torque is represented as a function of the motor parameters. Therefore, the important parameter is estimated by least-square algorithm.

  • Speed and torque controls of permanent magnet synchronous motors are usually attained by the application of position and speed sensors. However, speed and position sensors require the additional mounting space, reduce the reliability in harsh environments and increase the cost of a motor. Therefore, many studies have been performed for the elimination of speed and position sensors. This paper investigates an Improved sliding mode observer for the speed sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed control strategy is the sliding mode observer with a variable boundary layer for a low-chattering and fast-reponse control. The proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation and experimentation.

  • In automobile, the introduction of electronically commutated motors has been accompanied by a proliferation of electronic devices. With this proliferation of electronic devices, an emphasis has been placed on EMC issues. This paper is proposed to use SRM as a radiator cooling fan in automotive applications. To drive SRM, Energy efficient C-dump converter is applied. It is verified more efficient than other converters through simulation and experiments. And also SRM is valid automotive applications that have strict EMC standards. It is compared SRM with BLDC and DC motor by experiments.

  • This paper describes a new approach to estimate induction motor speed from terminal voltages and currents for speed-sensorless vector control. This algorithm is based on Model Reference Adaptive System(MRAS). The proposed technique is simple and robust to the variation of motor parameters. Specially, this algorithm is not affected by the variation of stator resistance and it does not require any pure integration at all. The validity of this new approach is proved by simulations.

  • This paper presents a new analytical representation and simulation of the phase inductance of a Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) using Matlab/M-file. This simulation method has many advantages: it is free from expression, can be applied widely, demonstrates inductance profile using motor parameter only, and save run time. Moreover, this simulation method can be easily realize various SRM model unlikely the existing method that limited itself to one model. And analytical expression for inductance profile is welcome as it allows for easier analysis of the motor, for it can bring insight in it working, in formulating control strategies and in achieving high accuracy in performance computations.

  • IEC 61800 is an international standard on adjustable speed electrical power drive systems, which consists of three parts. IEC 61800-1 and IEC 61800-2 apply to DC power drive systems and AC power drive systems, respectively, which include power conversion, control equipment, and also a motor or motors. IEC 61800-3 specifies EMC ( Electro Magnetic Compatibility ) requirements for adjustable speed AC or DC motor drives connected to main supplies up to AC 1,000 volts. This paper studies the standards related to EMC and the text summary of international standard IEC 61800-3 which is an EMC product standard including specific test methods.

  • A sensorless velocity control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous motors is presented in this paper. Two stator currents are measured and processed in discrete form in DSP. The rotor position and speed are estimated through the stator flux linkage and its derivative estimation. Flux and its derivative are calculated in the stationary reference frame and used to estimate the speed and position. The closed-loop speed control has been shown to be effective from standstill to rated speed. Moreover, a flux drift problem caused by the integration can be eliminated so that a stable sensorless starting and running operation can be achieved. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper represent improved On-line Turn off Angle control schemes for switched reluctance motors based on current control. For the purpose of the finding optimal commutation switching angle point, it is utilized him on and turn off position calculation with inductance vs. current vs. flux linkage analysis method. The goal of proposed paper is the maximization of the energy conversion per stroke and maximizing efficiency and obtaining approximately flat-topped current waveform. The proposed control scheme is demonstrated on a prototype experimental system.
