  • In this paper, a new design method to improve efficiency of single-sided linear induction motor(SLIM) is presented. The method utilizes the space harmonic analysis, the equivalent circuit analysis and numerical analysis method. This paper deals with calculation of the design dimension of primary and secondary and the equivalent circuit parameters for SLIM. Finally, analytical results for SLIM designed are verified by FE results.

  • This paper deals with the analytical method to calculate the high temperature demagnetization characteristics of a high-speed machine with diametrically magnetized permanent magnet rotor. The equivalent magnetic circuit model is used to analyze the magnet operating point on high temperature condition. Agreements have been obtained between the results of the analytical model and finite-element analysis on prototype high-speed motors.

  • This paper forcuses on methods of achieving a direct vector control of induction motors for an electric vehicle based on a closed-loop flux observer. Also over-modulation topology and maximum torque per ampere over the entire field weakening region have been implemented. The proposed scheme is verified through the simulation and the experiment using the chassis dynampmeter and road load driving test for the induction motor controller and the electric vehicle system.

  • PWM-VSI based ac-drives have high nonlinearity due to dead-time in the inverter and the voltage drop across the switching devices. In this paper, we introduced a new nonlinear model of PWM-VSl including parastic capacitor and also showed validity of the model by circuit simulations and experiments. Furthermore, we proposed an on-line identification algorithm for the uncertain model parameters.

  • This paper describes a digital sensorless drive of permanent magnet brushless DC (PM BLDC) motors. The sensorless drive adopts a digital filter - moving average finite impulse response filter for accurate estimation of commutation time. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed sensorless drive is superior to that of the sensorless drive without filtering.

  • Since Interior Permanent Magnet syncronous Motor has a structure whose magnet is inserted in the rotor, d, q inductance is differ and the motor products hybrid torque combined allignment term and reluctance term. Air gap flux density and d, q axis inductances of the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor obtained by analytical method are compensated using Finite Element Method. For optimal design, the efficiency of the motor is taken as the objective function, and Genetic Algorithm finds the value of design parameters which maximize the objective function.

  • The Development of A.C. Induction Motor for Railway Rolling Stock. The traction motor is designed as 4-pole induction motor with self ventilation. The winding insulation is throughout of materials of class C. The rotor is designed as a squrrel rotor with copper bar and casting. The rotor speed is detected by means of a pulse generator. The newer tection motor have no casting(frame). Punched-in holes make up the air duct and transfer the heat losses in complete. Maximim motor rpm is higher due to rotor construction. New is the entry of water-cooled traction motors in urban, However the water cooling design in - unfortunately - not applicable in traction motor.

  • The travelling ultrasonic motor(USM) has good some characteristics over conventional servo motors such as compact size, light weight, silent moton, high torque and high speed response. The USM is driven by 2-phase AC electricity. By adjusting the phase difference of the motor power we control rotation, speed and torque of USM. In this paper, we propose design method using PLSI(programmable Large Scale Integration) of USM controller to adjust the phase difference of the motor power. As compared the previous, the new controller has some advantage that high speed, predictable performance, low power and so on.

Design and Analyzing of Electrical Characteristics of 1,200 V Class Trench Si IGBT with Small Cell Pitch (1,200 V급 Trench Si IGBT의 설계 및 전기적인 특성 분석)

  • In this study, experiments and simulations were conducted for a 1,200-V-class trench Si insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) with a small cell pitch below 2.5 ㎛. Presently, as a power device, the 1,200-V-class trench Si IGBT is used for automotives including electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and industrial motors. We obtained a breakdown voltage of 1,440 V, threshold of 6 V, and state voltage drop of 1.75 V. This device is superior to conventional IGBTs featuring a planar gate. To derive its electrical characteristics, we extracted design and process parameters. The cell pitch was 0.95 ㎛ and total wafer thickness was 140 ㎛ with a resistivity of 60 Ω·cm. We will apply these results to achieve fine-pitch gate power devices suitable for electrical automotive industries.

  • The torque ripple is generated in brushless de motors due to phase commutation and cause undesirable vibrations in servo application. This paper presents a new method reduce the torque ripple of brushless dc motor in commutation period.
