  • In this paper, design procedures of a linear induction motor(LIM) with squirrel cage secondary are presented. The electrical and magnetic loadings are determined by the conventional criteria of the linear induction motors with sheet secondary. Electromagnetic fields of the designed motor are analyzed using finite element method, and characteristics of thrust and currents are presented.

  • This paper presents a new speed sensorless control method of permanent magnet synchronous motors based on instantaneous reactive power. The proposed system is constructed in a synchronously rotating reference frame and is very simple. The new approach is not dependent upon the stator resistance, nor is it affected by mechanical motor parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed system is confirmed by the simulation results.

  • Nondestructive and destructive tests were performed the stator windings of three high voltage motors prior to the rewind. Nondestructive tests included ac current increase rate($\Delta$I), dissipation factor(${\Delta}tan{\delta}$), and maximum partial discharge(Qm) The destructive tests included breakdown at three phases with ac voltage. Flashover occurred between the connected winding of endwinding and the stator flame. In two cases creeping discharge occurred between the individual phase windings and the wedges In the stator ends. The results of destructive tests could rarely be determined the breakdown voltage.

  • In this paper, a development of the control system for the milling machine which is used to cut teeth of the automibile keys is presented as an example of the industry-university cooperation. The machine is controlled by a computer and a PLC. The control of the servo motors are accomplished by the computer and mechanical sequences are by PLC. This machine is capable of cutting key teeth up to the accuracy of 10 microns.

  • Brushless DC motors have a trapezoidal back EMF wave form and are fed with rectangular stator currents. Under these conditions, the torque produced is theoretcally constant. However, in practice, torque ripple may exist, one major cause of which conies from phase current commutation. In this paper we propose an improved method of reducing the torque ripple due to phase current commutation of indirectly restricting the uncommutated current through control of the other phase currents. Simulation results are present.

  • Stepping motors are widely used for various electric instruments. In case of analysing claw pole PM slopping motor 3-dimensional analysis is necessary for accurate field calculation. This paper presents static torque characteristics of a permanent magnet type stepping motor with claw poles using three-dimensional finite element analysis.

  • We investigated the fluidic gas-driven carbon-nanotube motor based on multi-wall carbon nanotubes and fluidic gas flow. Since the origination of the torque was the friction between the carbon nanotube surface and the fluidic gases, the density and the flow rate of the working gas or liquid were very important for the carbon nanotube motor. Molecular simulation results showed that multi-wall carbon nanotubes with very low rotating energy barriers could be effectively used for fluidic gas-driven carbon-nanotube motors.

  • To predict efficiency of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM) and to cope with the demagnetization risk of permanent magnets used in the IPMSM, accurate iron analysis of the IPMSM is very important at the motor design stage. In this paper, we present the method to estimate the iron loss for the IPMSM considering the condition of field weakening control and harmonics of flux density waveform.

  • The equipments in semi-conductor, display and measurement fields require high precision and resolution positioning technology. High positioning control can be carried out by using linear motors with little vibration, backlash and friction. In this paper, the acceleration patterns of the moving Part are analyzed to obtain the optimum pattern which leads to the less vibration reduction of equipment. In addition, the effect of friction force in guide rail on position control accuracy is investigated to identify possibility of using current bearing system for nano-positioning control.
