We are designed to solve cyber motion sickness, an important task that must be addressed for the growth of the virtual reality content industry. Not only the industry but also academia are paying a lot of attention. However, despite long interest and research on the phenomenon of cyber motion sickness, a solution has not been drawn. This is deeply related to the lack of tools that can effectively measure cyber motion sickness. Therefore, in this paper, prior studies on cyber motion sickness were analyzed to develop a tool that can effectively measure cyber motion sickness when users experience immersive virtual reality. The measurement method of cyber motion sickness used in previous studies, each characteristic and limitation, and common factors related to cyber motion sickness were analyzed. Each of the related factors was derived as sub-factors. Based on the analyzed contents, an effective cyber motion sickness measurement evaluation tool model in immersive virtual reality was presented. It is expected that the evaluation tool model can be used for the study of cyber motion sickness.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate that causes of motion sickness in oriental medicine. Methods The internal and external studies about motion sickness were searched Results and Conclusions The motion sickness is induced by conflict of balance system including vestibular, visual and proprioceptive system. The motion sickness is more common in female and in children between 2 and 12 years old. In western medicine, antihistamine and anticholinergic has been used for treatment of motion sickness, but these anti-motion sickness drug turn out to be not a perfect solution and have several side effects. On the other hands, In oriental medical terminology, there is no words equivalent to the "motion sickness", but we consider the motion sickness as state with dizziness, nausea and vomiting. The motion sickness can be induced by either internal or external causes and the internal causes can thought to be a constitutional factor of an individuals, and the general transportation can be an external cause. The important internal cause is a dysfunction of the spleen, stomch(脾胃不調), retention of phlegm and fluids(痰飮), and deficiency of the kidney jing(腎精不足). The wind(風) and fire(火) in the upper part of the body, especially in the head, also can be an important cause of the motion sickness.
As tilting train is the effective solution to provide faster passenger service on conventional railway lines without too costly modification of infrastructure, it is expected that tilting train will be put into service for Korean conventional Railway Lines. Very few passengers may suffer from motion sickness on conventional train and high speed train. But some sickness among passengers of tilting trains have been reported. Up to now, a standardized motion sickness index was mainly developed in the shipping domain. Therefore, there was a need for railway motion sickness index in order to predict and evaluate the motion sickness which is likely to be experienced by passengers. This paper is the preliminary investigation to propose the technical index related to motion sickness and nausea phenomena for the tilting train development and operation.

This study alms to investigate the dynamic properties of express buses in the very low frequencies which cause motion sickness Incidence. Since passengers often use express buses for long distance traveling. it is a critical point whether the ride give rise to motion sickness or not. In the study accelerations at the three Points on the floor of the six test vehicles were measured during the driving at constant speeds. By applying the frequency weighting corves suggested in ISO 26.31-1, the Physical quantity of accelerations were changed into the perceptual amount used to judge quantitatively the incidence of motion sickness. Motion sickness dose values were calculated from the frequency weighted time history of acceleration signals, and compared between the vehicles, driving conditions. and the seat positions in the bus. During the 50 minutes' driving on the public road and high ways. the vomiting incidence ratios were seen to range from 0.4 to 0.8 %. which is equivalent to 2.4 to 4.8 % for 5 hours' driving. Unlike the very smooth road conditions considered in this work, motion sickness dose values encountered in real situations are expected to increase.

This study aims to investigate dynamic properties of express buses in the very low frequencies which affect motion sickness incidence. Since passengers often use express buses for long distance traveling, it is a critical point whether a give rise to motion sickness or not. In the study accelerations at the three points on the floor of the six test vehicles were measured during the driving at constant speeds. By applying frequency weighting curves suggested in ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-3, physical amount of accelerations were changed into perceptual amount which determines incidence of motion sickness. Motion sickness dose values were calculated from the frequency weighted time history of accelerations, and compared between the vehicles, driving conditions, and the seat positions in the bus. During the driving on public road and high ways for 50 minutes vomiting incidence ratios ranged 0.4 to 0.8%, which were equivalent to 2.4 to 4.8% for 5 hours' driving. The value of 4.8 % means two among 45 passengers may vomit after the traveling, which is very serious situation. Considering the very smooth driving condition at which the data were collected, motion sickness dose values will increase in real situations

Excessive motion of the ship in rough sea would affect body's fatigue, cognitive ability, motion sickness, and the proficiency of activity. Among them symptoms of motion sickness are similar to fatigue and nausea. Motion sickness causes sudden degradations of ability to perform tasks in physical and psychological aspects, and causes delays or failure in mental activity, and also takes a significant amount of time recovering. In this study, questionnaire for MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence) survey was taken for the students aboard the training ship of Kaya to the open sea far from land. Motion sickness analysis was performed as comparing the results of questionnaire based on sea state, incident angle, economical speed, and location in the ship.
Virtual reality (VR) sickness can have an influential effect on the viewing quality of VR 3D contents. Particularly, watching the 3D contents on a head-mounted display (HMD) could cause some severe level of visual discomfort. Despite the importance of assessing the VR sickness, most of the recent studies have focused on unveiling the reason of inducing VR sickness. In this paper, we subjectively measure the level of VR sickness induced in the viewing of omnidirectional 3D graphics contents in HMD environment. Apart from that, we propose an objective assessment model that estimates the level of induced VR sickness by calculating the difference between head movement velocity and global camera motion velocity.

For boarding comfort and pleasant boarding sensitivity of passenger in passenger ship, there are a few methods such as motion sickness rate or MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence) to assess safety of passenger ship. To find out MSI or motion sickness rate of the training vessel Kaya of Pukyong National University, we use lots of various factors: sea condition, incident angle in main sail way, economic speed, calculation position of motion sickness, sea state, work place and reduce zone of ship. In this paper, we adopted Maxsurf Seakeeper program based on Strip Theory and carefully compared theoretical results with experimental results.
Low-frequency building vibration is known to induce symptoms of motion sickness in some occupants. This paper examines how the adoption of a theory of motion sickness, in conjunction with a dose-response model might inform the real-world problem of managing and designing standards for tall building motion sway. Building designers require an understanding of human responses to low-dosage motion that is not adequately considered by research into motion sickness. The traditional framework of Sensory Conflict Theory is contrasted with Postural Instability Theory. The most severe responses to motion (i.e., vomiting) are not experienced by occupants of wind-excited buildings. It is predicted that typical response sets to low-dosage motion (sleepiness and fatigue), which has not previously been measured in occupants of tall-buildings, are experienced by building occupants. These low-dose symptoms may either be masked from observation by the activity of occupants or misattributed to the demands of a typical working day. An investigation of the real-world relationship between building motion and the observation of low-dose motion sickness symptoms and a degradation of workplace performance would quantify these effects and reveal whether a greater focus on designing for occupant comfort is needed.

As the era of metaverse approaches, there are challenges that need to be solved. Among them, 'cyber motion sickness' is a representative problem from 2016;when VR technology began to attract attention. According to the theory of sensory conflict, motion sickness is caused when the perceived direction of motion information and the expected value are not the same. The paper was written to theoretically explore the relationship between brain cognition and cyber motion sickness, and to prove the effect of user immersion on motion sickness symptoms based on this. Through the SSQ experiment, it was found that the rotation value of the camera aggravates the symptoms of cyber motion sickness and can alleviate cyber motion sickness by increasing the immersion of the game by giving the viewer visual and shift missions to solve. This study was conducted to solve the problem of cyber motion sickness during the process of developing the VR rhythm game "beatale", and it is expected to be the basis for improving cyber motion sickness not only in the development of the project but also in the production of VR contents in the future.
