Wearable Human Health-monitoring Band using Inkjet-printed Flexible Temperature Sensor

  • This paper presents a wearable human health-monitoring band. The band consists of a body temperature detector (BTD) and a hear rate detector (HRD). The BTD and HRD are realized using an inkjet-printed flexible temperature sensor and a commercial heart rate sensor module, respectively. The sensitivity of the fabricated BTD was found to be $-31/^{\circ}C$ with a linearity of 99.82%. The HRD using the commercial heart rate sensor module has a good performance with a standard deviation of 0.85 between the data of a commercial smart watch and the fabricated HRD.

  • This study has been focused on the development of an open architecture CNC system and integration of core application technology for machine tool such as a remote monitoring/diagnosis system, NURBS interpolation, and cutting process simulation. To do this, we have developed a comprehensive CNC software including the basic HMI, screen editor, ASF, and visual builder. As a control hardware system for machine tool, the universal I/O module and CNC main unit have been developed. Then the remote monitoring/diagnosis system and NURBS interpolation have been implemented in the CNC software. The cutting simulation software will be used for enhancing the productivity of machine tools. Through a simulator and test bed, the whole technology has been verified.

  • Recently, many industrial instruments face the problem of protocol compatibility with the external monitoring and control system. This paper implemented a protocol conversion algorithm for industrial monitoring about communication Data. This algorithm is supported programmable method by user. we experimented the protocol conversion by communication gateway module using implemented algorithm, and obtained good results.

  • Recently, looking at construction sites with either large or small scale, accidents like collision, fall, etc. occur often. These accidents lead to not only damage of human lives but also serious economic loss. In case of large scale constructions sites, safety management systems are used to reduce industrial accidents. However in construction sites with small scale, those systems cannot be applied due to problems such as lack of compatability and high installation expense. In this case, just by putting on safety gears can also reduce industrial accidents. Therefore, in this paper, a safety management systems that can be used at both large and small scale construction sites is proposed. This safety management system consists of a smart module, a repeater and a gateway, and a monitoring system. The smart module, which is detachable, is attached to a safety helmet. This module transfers the current status of the user to the monitoring system through the repeater and the gateway. The repeater transfers the data received from the smart module to the gateway, and the gateway sends the data from the repeater to the monitoring system. The monitoring system shows the user status to the safety supervisor by displaying the data - temperature, height, intensity of illumination, images - received from the smart module. The safety supervisor can monitor the user status in real-time and take immediate action in case of emergency through this monitoring system.

  • Data used for the SFP module are stored in A0 and A2 memory area based on the SFP-MSA standard. In this paper the auto set-up program for SFP module has been designed and implemented. In order to make the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface, the specific value has been written into the designated register via RS232 communication channel in the LD Driver IC. The Agilent VEE is used as a programming language for factory automation, and optical characteristics of SFP module and SFP-MSA standard are main structure of the implementation. The implemented program has been applied to the manufacturing field and the system gains a higher effect than the result of 6-Sigma.

  • We have developed a fully functional reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) switch module using a polymer integrated photonic lightwave circuit technology. The polymer variable optical attenuator (VOA) array and digital optical switch array are integrated into one polymer PLC chip and packaged to form a 10-channel VOA integrated optical switch module. Four of these optical switch modules are used in the ROADM switch module to execute 40-channel switching and power equalization. As a wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) filter device, two C-band 40-channel athermal arrayed waveguide grating WDMs are used in the ROADM module. Optical power monitoring of each channel is carried out using a 5% tap PD. A controller and firmware having the functions of a 40-channel switch and VOA control, optical power monitoring, as well as TEC temperature control, and data communication interfaces are also developed in this study.

A Cell-to-Cell Fast Balancing Circuit for Lithium-Ion Battery Module (리튬이온 배터리 모듈을 위한 단일셀간 고속 밸런싱 회로)

  • In this paper a cell-to-cell fast charge balancing circuit for the Lithium-Ion battery module is proposed. In the proposed topology the energy in a high voltage cell is transferred directly to a low voltage cell through the operation of the dc-dc converter. Furthermore, the charge balancing can be performed regardless of the battery operation whether it is being charged, discharged or relaxed. The monitoring circuit composed of a DSP and a battery monitoring IC is designed to monitor the cell voltage and detect the inferior cell thereby protecting the battery module from failure. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed topology, a prototype circuit was designed and applied to 12 Lithium-Ion battery module. It has been verified with the experiments that the charge equalization time of the proposed method was shorter compared with those of other methods.

  • With the development of ICT technology, a monitoring system to check the status of an object to be managed in real time in various industrial fields is widely used. Existing monitoring systems implemented individual systems according to monitoring targets, but recently, monitoring systems have been implemented using open sources such as Prometheus and Grafana. When using Prometheus and Grafana, many parts become more convenient compared to the existing monitoring system development method, but there are still problems. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose an integrated monitoring system that supports Prometheus and Grafana. The proposed system is a detailed module that collects, stores, visualizes, and manages data to be monitored, and each module is implemented so that roles can be divided and existing problems can be solved. The proposed system can conveniently manage and monitor monitoring targets stored in heterogeneous databases, and create dashboards through simple operation.

  • A measurement device for gas flow rate using hot-wire module is developed for the utilization in low-accuracy industrial applications. The module has three wires of measuring and heating, and a bridge circuit is installed to detect electric current through the wire in the module. An amplification of the signal and conversion to digital output are conducted for the online measurement with a personal computer. In addition, temperature distribution in the module is numerically analyzed to examine the measured outcome from the module experiment. The flow rate of air and carbon dioxide gas is separately measured for the performance examination of the device. The experimental relation of measurement and flow agrees with the prediction from the numerical analysis. The outcome of the performance test indicates that the accuracy and reproducibility of the module is satisfactory for the purpose of industrial applications.

  • In this paper we propose a framework of an open architectured manufacturing system base on CORBA middleware. The manufacturing system consists of four configurable software modules 9mchine control module, database module, monitoring module, and operation module). Each module is distributed through the network and integrated with CORBA middleware technology. CORBA Characteristics including independence from programming languages, computing platforms and networking protocols makes us to easily develop new applications and to effectively integrate new module into existing distributed systems. The CORBA program used in this study is The ACE ORB (TAO) developed by the laboratory in Washington University.
