Fuzzy supervisory control technique for the seismic response control of cable-stayed bridges subject to earthquakes is studied. The proposed technique is a hybrid control method, which adopts a hierarchical structure consisting of several sub-controllers and a fuzzy supervisor. Sub-controllers are independently designed to reduced the responses to be controlled of a cable-stayed bridge, and a fuzzy supervisor achieves improved seismic control performance by tuning the pre-designed sub-controllers. It is realized by converting static gains of the sub-controllers into time-varying dynamic gains through the fuzzy inference mechanism. To evaluate the feasibility of the proposed technique, the benchmark control problem of cable-stayed bridge proposed by Dyke et al. is adopted. The control variables for the seismic response control of the cable-stayed bridge are determined to be t도 shear forces and bending moments at the base of the towers, the longitudinal displacements at the top of the towers, the relative displacements between the deck and the tower, and the tensions in the stay cables. Comparative results between the fuzzy supervisory controller and LQG controller demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control technique.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the global spillover effects through the existence of linear and nonlinear causal relationships between the US, European and BRIC financial markets after the period from the introduction of the Euro, the financial crisis and the subsequent EU debt crisis in 2007~2010. Although the global spillover effects of the financial crisis are well described, the nature of the volatility effects and the spread mechanisms between the US, Europe and BRIC stock markets have not been systematically examined. A stepwise filtering methodology was introduced to investigate the dynamic linear and nonlinear causality, which included a vector autoregressive regression model and a multivariate GARCH model. The sample in this paper includes the post-Euro period, and also includes the financial crisis and the Eurozone financial and sovereign crisis. The empirical results can have many implications for the efficiency of the BRIC stock market. These results not only affect the predictability of this market, but can also be useful in future research to quantify the process of financial integration in the market. The interdependence between the United States, Europe and the BRIC can reveal significant implications for financial market regulation, hedging and trading strategies. And the findings show that the BRIC has been integrated internationally since the sub-prime and financial crisis erupted in the United States, and the spillover effects have become more specific and remarkable. Furthermore, there is no consistent evidence supporting the decoupling phenomenon. Some nonlinear causality persists even after filtering during the investigation period. Although the tail distribution dependence and higher moments may be significant factors for the remaining interdependencies, this can be largely explained by the simple volatility spillover effects in nonlinear causality.
In the film Inception, we can see that the human dream world is depicted using Freud's psychoanalytical subconscious theory. Through the expression of the subconscious, And the ability to think and think deeply of human nature, such as presenting a new perspective to insight and expression. Based on Freud 's subconscious theory, this paper explores the expression of the dream world and the subconscious in the film and examines the meaning expression of the film through it. The main character is well described as living a chaotic life in obsession with obsessions and obsessions due to his subconscious uncontrollable through his dreams and dreams of being satisfied by the way the oppressed thoughts and desires are disguised I feel that I feel my foolishness and mood as a masturbation by dreaming and dreaming to turn back the moments of regret. In addition, conflicts and confrontations between consciousness and subconscious are expressed well in the form of confusion in reality and dreams. This application and application of humanities studies is a good example of the production of in-depth popular arts content, as we can see that it can add to the weight of depth setting, plot development, and above all creative time and space creation.
Cobalt-, zinc-, and nickel-zinc-substituted nano-size manganese ferrite powders, $MnFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$, were fabricated using a sol-gel method, and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were subsequently studied. The $MnFe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at temperatures above 523 K exhibited a spinel structure, and the particle size increased as the annealing temperature increased. All ferrites annealed at 773 K showed a single spinel structure, and the lattice constants and particle size decreased with the substitution of Co, Zn, and Ni-Zn. The $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of the $MnFe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at 523 K only showed a doublet due to its superparamagnetic phase, and the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra of the $MnFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, and $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite powders annealed at 773 K could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. However, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of the $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at 773 K consisted of two Zeeman sextets and one quadrupole doublet due to its ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior. The area ratio of the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be used to determine the cation distribution equation, and we also explained the variation in the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters by using this cation distribution equation, the superexchange interaction and the particle size. Relative to pure $MnFe_2O_4$, the saturation magnetizations and coercivities were larger in $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ and smaller in $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, and $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$. These variations could be explained using the site distribution equations, particle sizes and magnetic moments of the substituted ions.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to conduct biomechanical analysis of varying backpack loads on the lower limb movements during downhill walking over $-20^{\circ}$ ramp. Method : Thirteen male university students (age: $23.5{\pm}2.1yrs$, height: $175.7{\pm}4.6cm$, weight: $651.9{\pm}55.5N$) who have no musculoskeletal disorder were recruited as the subjects. Each subject walked over $20^{\circ}$ ramp with four different backpack weights (0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of body weight) in random order at a speed of $1.0{\pm}0.1m/s$. Five digital camcorders and two force plates were used to obtain 3-d data and kinetics of the lower extremity. For each trial being analyzed, five critical instants were identified from the video recordings. Ground reaction force, loading rate, decay rate, and resultant joint moment of the ankle and the knee were determined by the inverse dynamics analysis. For each dependent variable, one-way ANOVA with repeated measures was used to determine whether there were significant differences among four different backpack weight conditions (p<.05). When a significant difference was found, post hoc analyses were performed using the contrast procedure. Results : The results of this study showed that the medio-lateral GRFs at RHC in 20% and 30% body weight were significantly greater than the corresponding value in 0% of body weight. A consistent increase in the vertical GRFs as backpack loads increased was observed. The valgus joint movement of the knee at RTO in 30% body weight was significantly greater than the corresponding values in 0% and 10% body weight. The increased valgus moment of 30% body weight observed in this phase was associated with decelerating and stabilizing effects on the knee joint. The results also showed that the extension and valgus joint moments of the knee were systematically affected by the backpack load during downhill walking. Conclusion : Since downhill walking while carrying heavy external loads in a backpack may lead to excessive knee joint moment, damage can occur to the joint structures such as joint capsule and ligaments. Therefore, excessive repetitions of downhill walking should be avoided if the lower extremity is subjected to abnormally high levels of load over an extended period of time.
Current statistics reveal remarkable prolongation of the average longevity in this country for the past decade. Welfare of the aged is no longer sole concern of the person or/and family. but has aroused social concern on the community and national level. This study was designed to assess social, economic and emotional needs of the aged. and to identify problems they are confronting. Data were gathered through questioning 273 subjects living in Seoul from July 25, to August 31. 19 80. Frequencies and percentile scores were analysed to describe the fact. and the significance of int or-variable differences was tested by Chi-square method. Results are : 1. Majority of the subjects (male : 65.38%). (female : 62.13%)“talk about past experiences”to re-collect their past days, the difference between male and female respondents was not significant. 2. Except few who earn their pocket money (4.21%). majority were doing household errands (34.52% ) and looking after their garnd children (29.26 %). Main sources of their pocket money revealed to be their children (84.02%) and their own savings (24.64% ). Except few (15%)engaged with social activities directly or indirectly. leisure hours are spent in chatting with aged neighbors (44.81%). Highest in the rank order on the joyous moments for the aged revealed to be when the members of family living apart paying a visit (male : 37.5%, female : 63.72%)difference of male and female was significant ( P<0.05). Among female respondents. significant difference between age group was revealed (p<0.05). 3. Majority prefered sin91e houses (84.30% ). as residential environment. the suburban (36.26% ) area was the filet in the rank order : difference between age group and the educational status were not significant. Majority of respondents revealed to have their own room in the house. The first preference was given to live with their children (68.86%). Memory of the past (37.36% )revealed to be the highest in the rank order among the reasons why they dislike moving the house. 4. Majority favored current welfare benefts provided for the old age. however. the ideal way to live at their old age they responded was to live on their own savings (50.54%). 5. Majority revealed to be daunted occasionally (62.27%) by not being less active (34.16%) socially and by poor physical health(29.75%). Male and female differ in the causes of loneliness significantly (P <0.001) : retirement (37.89%) in ale and helpessness (43.05%) in female revealed the highest in the rank order. Majority talk over their feelings with aged neighbors to overcome the loneliness. 6 Majority were in favor of planting and looking after pet animal in the house. however. male and female differ in the kind significantly (p <0.001), 7. Majority think about death and dying occasionally or more (84.11% ). Many of the respondents believes in the life after life (53.49%) : female revealed to be significantly higher (p <0.01). and subjects with christian belief were significantly higher than non-christians (P<0.001). Attitude towards death and dying differs significantly between male and female (P <0. 001) and between christians ans and nonchristians (p <0.001). Highest preference was given to simple funeral (69.85%). Precious heritage that they would pass on to their descendants was onoscience and ethical value(57. 51%) : christian response as the first value was christian belief (52.38%).
The test results of high-strength concrete beam specimens, which have various combinations of different types of flexural reinforcement and short fibers, were compared with the prediction results of codes, guidelines and models proposed by researchers. The theoretical calculation based on the ultimate strength method of the KCI and ACI Code underestimated the ultimate moments of FRP bar-reinforced beams without fibers. The models proposed by ACI 544.4R and Campione predicted the ultimate moment capacities inaccurately for the FRP bar-reinforced beam with steel fibers, because these models do not consider the increased ultimate compressive strain of fiber reinforced concrete. Bischoff's deflection model predicted the service load deflections reasonably well, while the deflection model of ACI Committee 440 underestimated the deflection of FRP bar-reinforced beams. Because the ACI 440 expression, used to predict member deflection, cannot directly apply to the beams reinforced with different types of reinforcing bars, an alternative method to estimate the deflections of beams with different types of reinforcing bars using the ACI 440 expression was proposed. In addition, Bischoff's approach for computing deflection was extended to include deflection after yielding of the steel reinforcement in the beams reinforced with steel and FRP bars simultaneously.
This paper introduces multifractal processes and presents the empirical investigation of the multifractal asset pricing. The multifractal stock price process contains long-tails which focus on Levy-Stable distributions. The process also contains long-dependence, which is the characteristic feature of fractional Brownian motion. Multifractality introduces a new source of heterogeneity through time-varying local reqularity in the price path. This paper investigates multifractality in stock prices. After finding evidence of multifractal scaling, the multifractal spectrum is estimated via the Legendre transform. The distinguishing feature of the multifractal process is multiscaling of the return distribution's moments under time-resealing. More intensive study is required of estimation techniques and inference procedures.
Statement of Problem : With increasing demand of the implant-supported prosthesis, it is advantageous to use the different platform width of the fixture according to bone quantity and quality of the patients. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to assess the loading distributing characteristics of two implant designs according to each platform width of fixture, under vertical and inclined loading using finite element analysis. Material and method : The two kinds of finite element models were designed according to each platform width of future (4.1mm restorative component x 11.5mm length, 5.0mm wide-diameter restorative component x 11.5mm length). The crown for mandibular first molar was made using UCLA abutment. Each three-dimensional finite element model was created with the physical properties of the implant and surrounding bone. This study simulated loads of 200N at the central fossa in a vertical direction, 200N at the outside point of the central fossa with resin filling into screw hole in a vertical direction and 200N at the buccal cusp in a 300 transverse direction individually Von Mises stresses were recorded and compared in the supporting bone, fixture, and abutment screw. Results : The stresses were concentrated mainly at the cortex in both vertical and oblique load ing but the stresses in the cancellous bone were low in both vertical and oblique loading. Bending moments resulting from non-axial loading of dental implants caused stress concentrations on cortical bone. The magnitude of the stress was greater with the oblique loading. Increasing the platform width of the implant fixture decreased the stress in the supporting bone, future and abutment screw. Increased the platform width of fixture decreased the stress in the crown and platform. Conclusion : Conclusively, this investigation provides evidence that the platform width of the implant fixture directly affects periimplant stress. By increasing the platform width of the implant fixture, it showed tendency to decreased the supporting bone, future and screw. But, further clinical studies are necessary to determine the ideal protocol for the successful placement of wide platform implants.
Electrical resistivity methods of dipole - dipole array profiling and Schiumberger array sounding were tested on a segment of the Woraksan granitic batholith for the research into the imaging of irregular attitudes of fracture zones in the crystaaline rock in terms of processing and interpretation schemes. By the dipole - dipole array method, inhomogeneities such as small scale of fracture zones were properly delineated down at some depth even within hard rock environment. Fracture zones were interpreted to be at the boundaries between the high amplitude zone and very low amplitude zone in the resistivity plot and they were also successfully outlined in two - dimensional layer and pseudo - three - dimensional volume constructed by the incorporation of vertical sounding data. The surface location of the fracture zones was correlated by the zero - crossing point in the VLF(very low frequency) electromagnetic data. Pseudo - three - dimensional attitudes of fracture zones were efficiently illuminated by optimum projection angle. The mean of bulk resistivity for the Woraksan granite and the near fracture zones is estimated to be approximately of 4,000 ohm - m which is much higher than the value of 700 ohm - m for the Rwachunri limesilicate environment. This difference is due to both the rock type, i.e., biotite granite vs limesilicate, and the occurrence of secondary openings of fold and fault associated with the intrusion of granite. In this study statistical analyses on the resistivity color plot were performed in terms of three representative statistical moments, i.e., standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis. The fracture zones in the standard deviation plot were characterized by the higher value, compared to the value of homogeneous portion. The upper boundary of the high resistivity zone was also successfully delineated in the skewness and kurtosis plots.
