Nitrate grown cells of cyanobacterium Plectonema boryanum, transferred to nitrogen stress, evolved nitrogenase catalyzed $H_2$ under microaerophilic condition. Nitrogen ($N_2$) in gs phase, low light intensity, and reducing substances in incubation phase stimulated $N_2$fixation ($H_2\;evolution$). Cyanobacterium grew slowly under microaerobic condition with a low intracellular ammonia pool. Nitrogen sources (${NO_3}^-,{NH_4}^+,\;and\;CH_3NH_3$) inhibited nitrogenase and glutamine synthetase (GS) transferase activity, and methylamine behaved like an ammonical nitrogen source. Depletion of molybdenum (Mo) and addition of tungsten (W) in the incubation medium inhibited $H_2$ evolution, Cyanobacterium was able to take up nitrate and expressed nitrate reductase (NR) activity under microaerophilic condition at an extremely slow rate.
NOx from the thermal power plants are NO and $NO_2$. This work investigated the chemical/physical characteristics and SCR efficiency of newly prepared catalysts including tungsten ($WO_3$), molybdenum ($MoO_3$) and antimony ($SbO_3$) based on vanadia($V_2O_5$) over titania($TiO_2$). As a result of the examination, the surface area of the catalysts promoted with additional metals was larger and the de-NOx efficiency also was enhanced with temperature. The most efficient catalytst was $V_2O_5/TiO_2-WO_3$(10%) at $200^{\circ}C$. Such a high efficiency could contribute to reduce the ammonia slip.
Ionizers are essential in various areas of manufacturing industries to protect electrostatic hazards and to reduce inferior products. For ion sources used in the charge neutralizers, there are corona discharge, soft X-ray, ultraviolet and glow discharge. Glow discharge has lots of attractive properties, such as lower discharge sustaining voltage, no generation of ozone, and so on. In this paper, we did an experimental study to trace the mechanism and stabilization of atmospheric pressure glow discharge using the several size and shape of electrodes. As an experimental result, to sustain conditions of atmospheric pressure glow discharge is that discharge voltage is 360V, discharge current is 12mA, apply frequency is 1kHz between electrodes when positive electrode is molybdenum(Mo) and negative electrode is copper(Cu). We confirmed that the mechanism and stabilization of atmospheric glow discharge is deeply concerned with the shape and material of electrode for discharge. Especially, glow discharge in atmospheric pressure was well generated and sustained according with the physical properties used electrode materials, example melting point, thermal conductivity, and etc.
In the tungsten industry as light source material, tungsten filament which used as light source material could form after molybdenumwire which used as the center supporter for coil shape tungsten wire was removed. This process uses hydrogen peroxide, Ozone and UV(Ultraviolet)Lamp, for the quantity of hydrogen peroxide decrease. The results were as follows : 1. An incandescent electric Lamp type : FL(FL-20) type : A standard of commodity (P.W.: $19{\pm}1.0mg$, $C.R:4.5{\pm}0.3{\Omega}$) 1) Only hydrogen peroxide treated ; Reaction Time : 65Min., P.W.: 18.60mg, $C.R.:4.60{\Omega}$ 2) Ozone/Ultraviolet/70% of hydrogen peroxide; Reaction Time : 64Min., P.W.: 18.61mg, C.R.: $4.61{\Omega}$ 2. A Fluorescent Lamp Type : GLS(GLS-40) Type : A standard of commodity(P.W.: $11.8{\pm}0.2mg$$65{\pm}1.5{\Omega}$) 1) Only hydrogen peroxide treated ; Reaction Time: 72Min, P.W.:11.88mg, C.R.: $65.62\Omega$ 2) Ozone/Ultraviolet/70% of hydrogen peroxide;Reaction Time:71Min., P.W.:11.88mg, C.R.: $65.63\Omega$
Stainless steel is used commonly in nuclear applications for shielding radiation, so in this study, three different types of new stainless steel samples were designed and developed. New stainless steel compound ratios were determined by using Monte Carlo Simulation program Geant 4 code. In the sample production, iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), silicium (Si), sulphur (S), carbon (C), molybdenum (Mo), manganese (Mn), wolfram (W), rhenium (Re), titanium (Ti) and vanadium (V), powder materials were used with powder metallurgy method. Total macroscopic cross sections, mean free path and transmission number were calculated for the fast neutron radiation shielding by using (Geant 4) code. In addition to neutron shielding, the gamma absorption parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients (MACs) and half value layer (HVL) were calculated using Win-XCOM software. Sulfuric acid abrasion and compressive strength tests were carried out and all samples showed good resistance to acid wear and pressure force. The neutron equivalent dose was measured using an average 4.5 MeV energy fast neutron source. Results were compared to 316LN type stainless steel, which commonly used in shielding radiation. New stainless steel samples were found to absorb neutron better than 316LN stainless steel at both low and high temperatures.
Titanium carbide(TiC) has a poor sinterability due to the strong covalent bond. Thus, it is generally fabricated by either hot pressing or pressureless-sintering at elevated temperature by the addition of sintering aids such as nickel(Ni), molybdenum(Mo) and cobalt(Co). However, these sintering methods have the following disadvantages; (1) the complicated process, (2) the high energy consumption, and (3) the possibility of leaving inevitable impurities in the product, etc. In order to reduce above disadvantages, we investigated the optimum conditions under which dense titanium carbide bodies could be synthesized and sintered simultaneously by high pressure self-combustion sintering(HPCS) method. This method makes good use of the explosive high energy from spontaneous exothermic reaction between titanium and carbon. The optimum conditions for the nearly full-densification were as follows; (1) The densification of sintered body becomes high by increasing the pressing pressure from 400kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ upto 1200 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. (2) Instead of adding the coarse graphite or activated carbon, the fine particles of carbon black should be added as a carbon source. (3) The optimum molar ratio of carbon to titanium (C/Ti) was unity. In reality, titanium carbide body which were prepared under optimum conditions had relatively dense textures with the apparent porosity of 0.5% and the relative density of 98%.
I-III-VI2 chalcopyrite compounds, particularly copper, indium, gallium selenide(Cu(InxGa1-x)Se2, CIGS), are effective light-absorbing materials in thin-film solar application. They are direct band-gap semiconductors with correspondingly high optical absorption coefficients. Also they are stable under long-term excitation. CIS (CIGS) solar cell reached conversion efficiencies as high as 19.5%. Several methods to prepare CIS (CIGS) absorber films have been reported, such as co-evaporation, sputtering, selenization, and electrodeposition. Until now, co-evaporation is the most successful technique for the preparation of CIS (CIGS) in terms of solar efficiency, but it seems difficult to scale up. CIS solar cells have been hindered by high costs associated with a fabrication process. Therefore, inorganic colloidal ink suitable for a scalable coating process could be a key step in the development of low-cost solar cells. Here, we will present the preparation of CIS photo absorption layer by a solution process using novel metal precursors. Chalcopyrite copper indium diselenide (CuInSe2) nanocrystals ranging from 5 to 20nm in diameter were synthesized by arrested precipitation in solution. For the fabrication of CIS photo absorption layer, the CuInSe2 colloidal ink was prepared by dispersing in organic solvent and used to drop-casting on molybdenum substrate. We have characterized the nanoparticless and CIS layer by XRD, SEM, TEM, and ICP.
Dopant-free silicon heterojunction solar cells using Transition Metal Oxide(TMO) such as Molybdenum Oxide($MoO_X$) and Vanadium Oxide($V_2O_X$) have been focused on to increase the work function of TMO in order to maximize the work function difference between TMO and n-Si for a high-efficiency solar cell. One another way to increase the work function difference is to control the silicon wafer resistivity. In this paper, dopant-free silicon heterojunction solar cells were fabricated using the wafer with the various resistivity and analyzed to understand the effect of n-Si work function. As a result, it is shown that the high passivation and junction quality when $V_2O_X$ deposited on the wafer with low work function compared to the high work function wafer, inducing the increase of higher collection probability, especially at long wavelength region. the solar cell efficiency of 15.28% was measured in low work function wafer, which is 34% higher value than the high work function solar cells.
This review aims to provide a synthesis of the knowledge generated and the lessons learned in roughly 15 years of UMo dispersion fuel R&D in Europe through a series of irradiation experiments. A lot of irradiations were also performed outside of Europe, particularly in the USA, Russia, Canada, Korea and Argentina. In addition, a large number of out-of-pile investigations were done throughout the world, providing support to the understanding of the phenomena governing the UMo behaviour in pile. However, the focus of this article will be on the irradiations and Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) results obtained in European experiments. The introduction of the article provides a historic overview of the evolution and progress in the high density UMo dispersion fuel development. The ensuing sections then provide further details on the various phases of the development, from the UMo dispersion in a pure Al matrix through the addition of Si to the matrix to address the interaction layer formation and finally to the more advanced solutions to the excessive swelling encountered in various experiments. This review was based only on published results or results that are currently in the process of being published.
