The finishing process for die and mold manufacturing is very important because it influences the final quality of products. Injection molds need higher quality surface than general purpose dies and molds. Conventional polishing can not make mold surface down to nanometer roughness efficiently because of their loading and glazing. This paper focused on the development of fixed abrasive pad using water swelling mechanism of polymer binder network. Self-conditioning was recognized as the long term polishing stabilization tool without any loading or glazing because water makes fixed abrasives free by swelling of the pad. Consequently, stable nano-polishing process has been applied on the injection mold, from the experimental results with polished surface roughness of Ra 15.1nm on STD-11 die steel.
RTP (rapid thermal pressing), one of micro-pattern replication techniques like hot embossing, is focused on achieving shorter cycle time. DFSS(Design for Six Sigma) has been applied in order to enhance the completeness of the development process for RTP system. According to DIDOV roadmap, we derived design concepts and subsequently decided the main performances, design factors, and components for RTP system. In the design process of RTP system using finite element analysis, it was realized that its structural characteristics affect large area replicability. Optimizing structural design factors, based on CAE, it was checked out that its large area replicability could be improved in a virtual test. Finally, we have a plan to validate the large area replicability of the developed RTP system, by performing micro-pattern replication tests with polymeric sheets.
Pet dogs have been considered to be involved in the contamination of indoor air by serving as a source of providing molds at houses. Currently, information on the molds originated from pet dogs is rarely available in Korea. The present study was carried out to obtain basic information on the fungi present on pet dogs. For this, fungal isolation was performed to the skin and hairs of 70 pet dogs at different houses and veterinary hospitals. A total of 44 fungal isolates were obtained from skin (27 isolates) and hairs (17 isolates) of the dogs investigated. Based on the observation of microstructures and colony morphology, and the ITS rDNA sequence analysis, the fungal isolates were identified at the level of genus. The identified isolates belong to the genera of Alternaria, Aspergillus, Beauveria, Chrysosporium, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Scopulariopsis, and Trichoderma. Among these genera, Aspergillus (25%), Cladosporium (23%) and Penicillium (20.5%) were 3 major genera. 63% of the 44 isolates showed color changes on dermatophyte test medium (DTM). When we tested the growth ability of 44 isolates at $37^{\circ}C$, 45% of the isolates were able to grow. These results show that pet dogs could carry fungi having a potentiality of affecting on human health.
EPS used in lost foam casting elastic modulus is extremely low. So it is necessary to derive machining conditions for effective cutting. Therefore this study were analyzed end-milling machining conditions to affecting the surface roughness of EPS foam. The machining conditions were set to depth, feed, and RPM at 3-level. And 18experimental conditions were derived using mixed orthogonal array. The most important condition for surface roughness is RPM. In addition, RPM machining condition range test that can realize surface roughness less than $10{\mu}m$ was performed. he range of RPM conditions is more than 15,000. However the range of RPM conditions is a condition that is difficult to use in actual field. In the future variance analysis and experiments are needed to derive the range of machining conditions available.
Fourteen dictyostelids(12 species of genus Dictyostelium. 2 species of genus Polysphonylium) oc-curred in Mt. Chiri Korea. Soils samples were collected from the nine sites. In the broadleaved-deciduous forests and conifers, common species of cellular slime molds are Dictyostelium mucoroides, and D. brefeldianum. Only two species are above 30 in importance value and above 50% in presence. Dominant species in the broadleaved-deciduous forests is D. mecoroides wheras in the conifer forests is D. brefeldianum which was not common until now in Korea, found in the low elevation either. In addition, Five cellular slime molds occured in the Miscanthus sinensis community: 4 species of genus Dictyostelium and 1 species of genus Polysphonylium. Dominant species is D. purpureum. Importance value is very high, 85. This Result is exceptively unusual. It dind't occur in the other sites. Correlation between the altitudes and the occurrence and distribution of dictyostelids was not accurate. Merely dominant species were different according to forest types and organic matter contents in soil. Cellular slime molds have different favorite forest types. And the growth and germination are dependent on the soil enviroryrnental conditions and soil quility. Key words:Dictyostelids, Mt. Chiri D. mecoroides, D. brefeldianum. D. purpureum. Soil quility, Favorite forest type, Soil environmental condition.
Cold forging is a method in which molding is performed at room temperature. It has a high material recovery rate and dimensional precision and produces excellent surface quality, and it is mainly used for the production of bolted or housing products. The lifespan of cold forging molds is generally determined by the wear of the mold, plastic deformation of the mold, and fatigue strength. Cold forging molds are frequently damaged due to fatigue destruction rather than wear and plastic deformation in a high-temperature environment as it is molded at room temperature without preheating the raw material and mold. Based on the results analyzed through FEM, an effective mold structure design method was proposed by analyzing the changes in tensile and compressive stresses on molds according to the number of molds and reinforcement rings and comparing the product geometry and mold stress using three existing mold models.

The life of conventional steel plastic injection molds is long but manufacturing cost and time are prohibitive for using these molds for producing prototypes of products in limited numbers. Commonly used 3D printers and rapid prototyping methods are capable of directly converting the digital models of three-dimensional solid objects into solid physical parts. Depending on the 3D printer, the final product can be made from different material, such as polymer or metal. Rapid prototyping of parts with the polymeric material is typically cheaper, faster and convenient. However, the life of a polymer mold can be less than a hundred parts. Failure of a polymeric mold during the injection molding process can result in serious safety issues considering very large forces and temperatures are involved. In this study, the feasibility of the inspection of 3D printed molds with the surface response to excitation (SuRE) method was investigated. The SuRE method was originally developed for structural health monitoring and load monitoring in thin-walled plate-like structures. In this study, first, the SuRE method was used to evaluate if the variation of the strain could be monitored when loads were applied to the center of the 3D printed molds. After the successful results were obtained, the SuRE method was used to monitor the artifact (artificial damage) created at the 3D printed mold. The results showed that the SuRE method is a cost effective and robust approach for monitoring the condition of the 3D printed molds.
Purpose: Breast volume is one of the crucial measurements in preoperative planning and postoperative evaluation of the results in mammoplasty. There are several methods suggested by different authors, but there is still no commonly accepted standard methods for measuring breast volume. To help the surgeons to base their estimation on an objective evaluation, we developed a simple method using Polyethylene bag and plaster molding. Methods: After Polyethylene bags were put in suitable size on both breasts of the patient in upright position, silk plaster was molded on the surface evenly. Then molds can be obtained after marking boundaries of breasts with a pen. Breast volume measurement can be done by filling water in the molds and measuring it. Moreover, postoperative design for natural skin brassier was possible using the molds. Results: This method was applied to 2 patients for reduction mammoplasty and the breast volume measurement was simple, hygienic and accurate, done within 10 minutes. Conclusion: This method using Polyethylene bag and plaster molding has several advantages. 1. It is comparatively accurate regardless of the size and shape of patient's breasts in upright position. 2. Measurement time is short and inconvenience and shame of patients can be reduced by making molds after putting on Polyethylene bags. 3. It is relatively economical and uses easily available hygienic materials. 4. The postoperative shape and volume of breasts can be predicted by using molds preoperatively.
쌀바구미와 저장 곡물 곰팡이간의 상호작용 분석의 일환으로 곰팡이 종에 대한 쌀바구미의 분포 선호성을 조사하였다. 쌀바구미는 비교 대상 4종 곰팡이(Aspergillus candidus, A. niger, A. flavus와 Penicillium spp.)에 오염된 현미를 살균된 현미보다 선호하였으며, 선호도는 A. candidus와 Penicillium spp.에 대해서 가장 높았다.
Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) has been widely used in automotive, electrical, and medical components. Thus, research on the use of LSR in the injection molding process is required to obtain high-quality and high-performance products. In this study, a mold was fabricated to examine the effects of the process parameters on the molding and mechanical properties of LSR parts. A computer-aided engineering analysis was used to optimize the air vent depth and curing temperature to decrease the flash at the air vents caused by the low viscosity of LSR. Temperature and pressure sensors were mounted in the mold to determine the effects of the process parameters on the temperature and pressure in the cavity. The tensile strength of the LSR parts was also examined in relation to the process parameters.
