This study presents the preform injection molding and the blow molding of the injection stretch-blow molding process for PET bottles. The numerical analysis of the injection molding and the blow molding of a preform is considered in this paper using CAE with a view to minimize the warpage and the thickness. In order to determine the design parameters and processing conditions in injection/blow molding, it is very important to establish the numerical model with physical phenomenon. In this study, a three dimensional model has been introduced for the purpose and flow simulations of filling, post-filling and cooling process are carried out. The simulations resulted in the warpage in good agreement with the measurements. Also, from the result of numerical analysis, we appropriately predicted the warpage, deformation and thickness distribution along the product walls.
This study is on the injection molding analysis for the LED outdoor lighting top cover of one heat sink body type structure. Thermoplastic and thermosetting resins were applied to compare the thermal properties during the injection molding process. The thermoplastic resin is used in this study due to special characteristics that it is light, good strength and dose long not transmute quality even if pass long time. The thermosetting resin is applied to this study due to good in strength, lightweight and excellent etc, thermal conductivity. This study presented a preliminary analysis of fill time, weld line, air trap etc. for the injection molding process of LED lamp cover and body through simulation using Moldflow. As a result of the study, it was selected HTM-102 material because the thermosetting resin has excellent strength and heat conductivity.

Refrigerator glass shelves are manufactured by Insert Injection Molding. The current process of injection of glass into the mold induces movement of the core, on urethane springs. Defects in the product can result from too low a force being transmitted from the springs. To solve this problem, the force on the moving core and the injection molding pressure were subjected to numerical analysis. Based on this, the number of urethane springs as well as their hardness was changed to improve the situation. The number of springs was changed from 6 to 4. The diameter of the springs was increased from ${\emptyset}75$ to ${\emptyset}100$, and the hardness was increased from 70 (shore A) to 90 (shore A). These improvements caused the force on the molding core to increase by approximately 65,442 N. The proportion of defects decreased by 66%.

Weld line is one of serious troubles which are observed in a plastic part manufactured by a injection molding process. This is caused by many process factors, which are molding pressure, temperature, velocity, location of a injection gate, mold geometry and material properties. investigation on the effects of these process factors to the appearance of a weld line was carried out using a finite element method. Filling and packing analyses were carried out by modifying both the configuration of the injection gates and cavity thickness. Proper locations of the injection gates could be determined by considering molding pressure, temperature, velocity and frozen layer, and whereby the weld line was controled. In order to make a weak appearance of the weld line, flow velocity and flow front in a cavity were also investigated by modifying a cavity thickness. As a result, flow front was extended around the corner in the cavity by changing the flow velocity and hence the appearance of the weld line was much weakened.
Fiber reinforced injection molded parts are widely used in recent years because of their improved properties of materials such as specific stiffness, specific strength, and specific toughness. The demand for products with high precision is increasing and it is important to minimize the warpage of the products. The warpage of short-fiber reinforced product is caused by anisotropy induced by fiber orientation as well as the residual stresses induced during the molding process. In order to reduce the warpage of the part, it is important to achieve successful mold design, processing control, and part design. In the present study, the design of gating system, molding condition, and part structure were carried out and verified with numerical analysis using a commercial CAE code Moldflow. The numbers and locations of gates were iteratively determined, and the molding conditions which can decrease the warpage of the part were investigated. Finally, slight structural modification of the part was conducted to reduce the locally concentrated warpage.
In this paper, we intend to predict the mass of the spiral using CAE and machine learning. First, We generated 125 data for the experiment through a complete factor design of 3 factors and 5 levels. Next, the data were derived by performing a molding analysis through CAE, and the machine learning process was performed using a machine learning tool. To select the optimal model among the models learned using the learning data, accuracy was evaluated using RMSE. The evaluation results confirmed that the Support Vector Machine had a good predictive performance. To evaluate the predictive performance of the predictive model, We randomly generated 10 non-overlapping data within the existing injection molding condition level. We compared the CAE and support vector machine results by applying random data. As a result, good performance was confirmed with a MAPE value of 0.48%.

Powder Injection Molding(PIM) has recently been recognized as an advanced manufacturing technology for low-cost mass production of metal or ceramic parts of complicated geometry With this regards, design technology of dental scaler tip PIM mold, which has complex shape and small core pin (diameter=0.6mm), with the help of computer-aided analysis of powder injection molding process was developed. Computer-aided analysis for dental scaler tip mold was implemented by finite element method with non-Newtonian fluid, modified Cross model viscosity, PvT data of powder/binder mixture. Compter-aided analysis results, such as filling pattern, weldline formation, air vent position prediction were compared with experimental result, and eventually have been shown good agreement. The core pin (diameter=0.6mm) deflection analysis of dental scaler tip PIM mold during PIM filling process was also investigated before mold fabrication.
A computer code was developed to simulate the filling stage of the injection/compression molding process by a finite element method. The constitutive equation used here was the compressible Leonov model. The PVT relationship was assumed to follow the Tait equation. The flow-induced birefringence was related to the calculated flow stresses through the linear stress-optical law. Simulations of a disk part under different process conditions including the variation of compression stroke and compression speed were carried out to understand their effects on birefringence variation. The simulated results were also compared with those by conventional injection molding.

The present work covers a new ray tracing scheme of an injection-molded plastic lens linked with finite element analysis fur injection molding processes. The traditional ray tracing schemes have been based on the assumption that optical property of the lens is homogeneous throughout the entire volume. However, this assumption is quite unrealistic for injection-molded plastic lenses since material properties vary at every point due to injection molding effects. In order to consider non-homogeneous property of a lens, a modified ray tracing method is proposed in connection with finite element analysis of injection molding. Through the analysis of the injection molding process, the distribution of refractive indices can be obtained. This information is then utilized in the proposed ray tracing scheme based on finite element meshes so as to take into account variation of the refractive indices. The effect of mold temperature is also investigated through finite element analysis, and the relevant optical quality is evaluated through the proposed ray tracing simulation.

This study investigates the injection molding of a plastic rack gear and focuses on deflections in the part. The causes of deflections were found and resolved through a trade-off study by injection molding analysis. Based on a warpage analysis, the fiber orientation was found to be a dominant factor in the occurrence of deflections. Changes in the part design and various injection conditions were analyzed for their effects in reducing deflections. Based on the trade-off study, a new part bottom design, injection time, and melt temperature were recommended. A trial injection was done for the new plastic rack gear, and measurements showed that its flatness surpassed that of the original part and met the specified requirement. The short injection time, low melt temperature, and symmetric similar configuration of the part contributed to the reduction in deflections. Therefore, optimized gate design and injection conditions as well as a new part design were validated through injection molding analysis in this study.
