  • In this paper, a wideband monopole antenna with ring loop by modified ground plane is presented. The proposed antenna consist of monopole antenna, ring loop by ground plane. This antenna is fed CPW-fed and wide slot antenna of a novel structure for broadband characteristics is proposed. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the wide slot antenna, we proposed the wide slot structure with CPW-fed which is combined with four ${\lambda}/2$ rectangular radiation modified monopole and inductively coupled. The measured impedance bandwidth is about 2.5 GHz(3.65~6.15 GHz) then less -10 dB.

  • A micros-strip ring patch antenna with ultra wide band characteristics is presented. The proposed antenna is designed by a modified form of the annular ring patch antenna with modified microstrip feedline. The designed antenna gives 5.6GHz bandwidth with regular radiation pattern from 4.4GHz to 12.0GHz for -10dE return loss or VSWR of less than 2.0 in simulation, which is also excellently agreed with the measured data.

The proposed antenna is based on a planar monopole design, and composed of one circular ring of radiating patch, cross strip in circular ring, modified feed line, and two rectangular slot in the ground plane for triple-band operation. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. • This paper presents a novel design for a simple rectangular ring with an open-ended monopole antenna that is well suited to DCS/PCS/UMTS/WLAN applications for dual-band operations. A microstrip-fed rectangular monopole antenna is first designed and then modified to introduce the rectangular ring with an open-ended antenna and a rectangular slit in the ground plane. Prototypes of the proposed antenna were fabricated and tested. The antenna, resonating at 1,405 MHz and 4,840 MHz, has a -10 dB impedance bandwidth of about 1,695 and 1,530 MHz (1,220~2,815 and 4,495~6,025 MHz), or about 79.06 % and 29.09 %. The observed 2D radiation patterns and 3D gain performance of the antenna in the operation bands are discussed.

  • We propose a slot antenna consisting of a rectangular slot on the ground plane, fed by a microstrip line with a rectangular-ring-shaped tuning stub that can be deployed in ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems to avoid interference with wireless local area network (WLAN) communication. Our antenna can achieve a single band-notched property from the 5 GHz frequency to the 6 GHz frequency owing to a controllable band notch that uses L- and J-shaped parasitic elements. The antenna characteristics can be modified to tune the band-notched property (4 GHz to 5 GHz or 6 GHz to 7 GHz) and the bandwidth of the band notch (1 GHz to 2 GHz). Furthermore, the shifted notch with enhanced width of the band notch from 1 GHz to 1.5 GHz is described in this paper. The UWB slot antenna and L- and J-shaped parasitic elements also provide the band-rejection function for reference in the WiMAX (3.5 GHz) and WLAN (5 GHz to 6 GHz) regions of the spectrum. Experiment results evidence the return loss performance, radiation patterns, and antenna gains at different operational frequencies.

  • In this paper, a monopole type antenna applicable to WLAN and WiMAX standard frequency bands is designed and fabricated. The proposed antenna is designed to have rectangular ring and rectangular patch based on microstrip feeding for triple band characteristics and inserted two stub in the top of the rectangular ring patch to enhance impedance bandwidth characteristics. The proposed antenna has $18.0mm(2W_1+W_2){\times}33.0mm(L_7+L_8+L_9)$ on a dielectric substrate of $27.0mm(W_1){\times}44mm(L_1){\times}1.0mm$ size. From the fabrication and measurement results, impedance bandwidths of 660MHz (2,08 to 2.74GHz) for 2.4/2.5MHz band, 488MHz (3.40 to 3.88GHz) for 3.5MHz band, and 2,180MHz (4.61 to 6.79GHz) for 5,000MHz band were obtained based on the impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna also obtained the measured gain and radiation pattern in the anechoic chamber.

  • This paper presents a low profile multi circular ring with different radius, patch antenna with modified feed line and slotted ground. The size of the antenna is $15{\times}12mm^2$, having electrical dimensions of $0.14{\lambda}{\times}0.12{\lambda}$ (at lower initial frequency) and footprints of $180mm^2$. The proposed antenna covers 3.1 to 12.3 GHz, reflection coefficient up to -38 dB with Bandwidth ratio of 4.13:1 and fractional Bandwidth of 122%. Bandwidth dimension ratio has been calculated (which is 6246) as a proof for compact size. Thin slots introduced on the feed line provide good impedance matching for whole frequency band. Numerical simulations of the proposed antenna are reported in terms of reflection coefficient ${\leq}-10dB$, vswr 2:1, radiation pattern and group delay (ns). The proposed antenna has advantage of very small size along with better impedance match that provides a practical approach to realize it for BW enhancement and UWB applications.

  • In this paper, a microstrip surface wave antenna(SWA) with a frequency selective surface structure(FSS) is designed and measured. A microstrip SWA has many advantages such as low profile, low weight, easy fabrication, and compatibility with monolithic microwave integrated circuits(MMIC). In addition, it has demonstrated monopole like beam patterns. The microstrip SWA consists of two parts : a center-fed modified microstrip patch to excite surface wave, and a periodic patches to support the propagation of the surface waves. To obtain wide bandwidth, the ring type parasitic element is inserted and the circular patch is selected for the unit element in FSS structure. Experimental results show that the microstrip SWA has monopole like beam patterns at 5.9GHz. Impedance bandwidth and gain is 12% and 5.6dBi.

  • In this paper, a high-power 20-way stripline power divider with low insertion loss and low side lobe level is successfully designed, fabricated and measured as a feed network for an S-band linear array antenna having Dolph-Chebyshev current distribution which has a narrow beam width and very low side lobe level (SLL). The 20-way stripline power divider consists of an 8-way power divider, three 4-way power dividers and three ring hybrids. It utilizes a T-junction structure as a basic element for power dividing. Notches and modified input/output N-to-stripline transitions are used for improving insertion loss and return loss. The fabricated power divider shows insertion loss less than 0.3 ㏈ and rms phase mismatch less than 8o in the full bandwidth. A final 40-way power divider is synthesized by combining symmetrically two 20-way power dividers and is expected to have SLL over 40 dB, based on the measured results of the 20-way power divider.
