전안면골 골절에서의 변형된 아래턱밑 삽관 (Modified Submental Intubation in Panfacial Bone Fracture Patients)

  • Purpose: Nasotracheal or oral intubation procedure is widely used for facial bone fractures. However, during the operation intubated tube can interfere or obstruct the view of the operator. We authors used a modified submental intubation method in panfacial bone fracture patients for intact airway and the operation view. Methods: After intravenous induction of anaesthesia, traditional orotracheal tubation was done. A horizontal incision was made 2 cm from the midline, 2 cm medial to and parallel with the mandible in the submental region. 1 In order to approach to the floor of the oral cavity, a haemostat was pushed through the soft tissues. A chest tube front cover was applied to the intubation tube and the tube was inserted through the submental tunnel. Orotracheal tube was disconnected and pulled back through the soft tissue and secured with a suture. Results: The procedure took about 30 minutes and there were no problems during the intubation. Intraoral manipulation and occlusal checks were free without any interference. Extubation was also easily done without any complications such as lung aspiration, infection, hematoma, or fistula. Conclusion: Submental endotracheal intubation is fast, safe, easy to use and free from the concern about the tube being pull back again. Conventional submental intubations are being held without any coverage of the tip. We authors applied the modified method to the trauma patients and obtained satisfactory results. From the above advantages, modified submental intubation can be widely available not only in fractured patients, but also in aesthetic or orthognathic surgeries.

유전자(遺傳子) 변형(變形) 농산물(農産物)에 관한 정책적(政策的) 함의(含意) (Political Implication on the Genetically Modified Crops)

  • The objectives of the study mainly concentrated on identifying the political implication on genetically modified crops considering production potentials and problems. It is found that the comprehensive evaluation of the genetically modified crops could not be concluded and compromised in a word on account of the polarization and parallelism of the positive and negative benefits of genetically modified crops just like as the rail way. The genetically modified crops will be contributed to solving the food shortage problems in the world, when the issues such as food safety, ecological disturbance and loss and degradation of biodiversity can be guaranteed in transparency. And when the trade morality of the multi-national enterprises be accepted by the genetically modified crops consumers, the potentiality of genetically modified crops will be realized greatly. By the way, the first problems will be expected to be solved by scientific development. If the food safety of the genetically modified technology be verified in transparency, it will be greatly contributed to solve food problems of human beings in the world. But the second problem could not be expected to be easily solved from the view point of capital property. In conclusion, the genetically modified technology will be made a severe sense of incongruity and a seed of fire on it will be remained persistently. According to the results based on the analysing the genetically modified crops potentiality and problems, it was identified that the ex-ante preparation of counter-measures and actions on it should be necessary. Accordingly this study has recommended that how and what the R&D policy on genetically modified crops be established and suggested how to carried out the industrial and economic policy together with international negotiation, and organizational and institutional rearrangement and etc.

CFD를 이용한 자동차 사이드 미러의 공력특성 연구 (A Study of Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Car's Side-view Mirror using CFD)

  • Aerodynamic characteristics, such as drag and lift, play an important role in automobile design under certain speed conditions. Such characteristics are essential to design an automobile since they are directly related to automobile's performance such as passenger safety and fuel consumption. There is a huge demand for the automobile to have safe performance at high speed. Reduction in drag is also important and it could lead to the solution of air flow induced noise and dust problems. The objective of this research is to find out the aerodynamic differences between conventional side mirror and a modified one using CFD. Although drag generated around a side mirror is only about 7% of the total drag when a car runs, it is very closely related to driver's field of vision and noise generation. CFD simulation of the flowfield around a car side-view mirror was performed using a commercial code; Gambit and FLUENT.

천미골 접합부를 이용한 외톨이 신경절 차단법 (Modified Approach through the Sacrococcygeal Junction to Block the Ganglion Impar)

  • Ganglion impar lies immediately anterior to the sacrococcygeal junction and blockade of the ganglion is used to treat anorectal and perineal pain. Although the technique introduced by Plancarte et at is widely practised, the bent needle is sometimes difficult to position precisely and patients find the procedure painful. We modified this approach of block of ganglion impar by positioning the needle into the sacrococcygeal junction and using the loss of resistance technique. With the patient in the lateral position, a skin wheal was raised at 1-1.5cm below the sacral hiatus. Twenty-three gauge short needle was directly placed into the sacrococcygeal junction with aid of fluoroscopic guidance. From 1 cm behind the anterior margin of the vertebral body in lateral view, we used the loss of resistance technique to confirm the retroperitoneal space. We found this modified approach easier to perform during six blocks for three patients with anorectal or perineal pain. Our modified approach through the sacrococcygeal junction may provide opportunity for wider administration of this procedure because of its simple technique, reduced pain during procedure and decreased risk of infection.

  • For transient stability analysis of a power system, the new method using transition matrix is introduced in this paper. At the present the, Runge-Kutta, Modified-Euler and Trapezoidal methods have been very popular in most stability programs, Modified-Euler and Trapezoidal methods are inferior in accuracy and Runge-Kutta method has problems in computation time. The proposed algorithm requires transition matrix and its integrated values with derivatives of nonlinear parts in nonlinear differential equations for stability analysis. The method presented in this paper is between Modified-Euler and Runge-Kutta methods from the view point of computation time and is superior to the other methods in accuracy.

MR 감쇠기를 이용한 구조물의 변형된 슬라이딩 모드 제어 (Modified Sliding Mode Control of Structures Using MR Dampers)

  • Semi-active control devices have received significant attention in recent Years because they offer the adaptability of active-control devices without requiring the associated large power sources. Magnetorheological(MR) dampers are semiactive control devices that use MR fluids to produce controllable dampers. This paper applies sliding mode control method using target variation rate of Lyapunov function for the control of structures by use of MR dampers. The three-story building model under earthquake excitation is analyzed by installing a MR damper in the first-story. The performance of semi-active controllers designed by clipped-optimal algorithm and modified sliding mode control algorithm is compared to the performance of passive-type MR dampers. The results indicate that semi-active controllers achieve a greater reduction of responses than passive-type system and especially the controller by modified sliding mode control method shows a good applicability in the view of response control and control force.

개조 항공기 감항성 설계연구 (Airworthiness Design Study for the Modified Aircraft)

  • Airworthiness certification is a repeatable process implemented to verify that a specific aircraft can be safely maintained and operated within its approved flight envelope. Airworthiness certification activity for the FA-50 aircraft has been performed according to the Airworthiness Certification Criteria, issued in 2011 by DAPA. It is a right time to study the application of those existing ACC process and tools to the hypothetical modification aircraft. This paper describes airworthiness engineers view of the integrated activities required to substantiate the modified aircraft performance. The compliance methods applicable to the airworthiness certification criteria is also suggested. It will be useful for the establishment of the future Korea modified military aircraft's ACC with the risk assessment and methods of compliances tailored to the legacy aircraft.

수변구조물의 누수 경로 탐지를 위한 변형된 전기비저항 탐사 및 자료 해석 (Modified Electrical Resistivity Survey and its Interpretation for Leakage Path Detection of Water Facilities)

  • 횡단 전위 배열(cross potential array)과 동일열 전위배열(direct potential array) 자료를 뒷받침하여 다양한 수변 구조물의 누수 경로 예측을 가능하게 하는 배열을 제시하고 이를 D-Lux array 라고 명명하였다. 또한 D-Lux array 자료를 색으로 가시화한 하나의 행렬로 정리하여 D-Lux view라고 제시하고 D-Lux view에서 관찰되는 저 전위차 이상대의 위치로 누수 구역의 위치를 해석하였다. D-Lux view의 보다 직관적인 해석을 위해서 D-Lux array 자료와 동일열 전위 배열 자료를 함께 사용하여 각 지점들 사이의 전위차 자료를 각 지점의 전위값으로 역산하고 이를 이용하여 등전위 분포도를 작성하였다. 등전위 분포도는 그래프나 D-Lux view에서 알 수 없었던 누수의 유입구, 유출구 뿐만 아니라 경로까지 예측 가능하게 하였다. 수조 실험과 수치 해석으로 예비 탐사를 실시한 후 현장 탐사로 콘크리트 보와 필 댐에 대한 적용이 이루어졌다. 그 결과, 콘크리트 보와 필 댐에 대해 누수 경로 탐지가 가능함을 확인하였다.

환경사회학의 관점에서 본 유전자조작식품(GMO)의 사회상 연구 (A Study on an Aspect of Society on GMO(Genetically Modified Organism) Viewed at Environmental Sociology)

  • The objectives of this study were to review various aspects of society on Genetically Modified Organism(GMO) in the view point of environmental sociology. There were many assertions related to GMO, and application of biotechnology. Some people assert GMO as harmful to human health, and some people as not harmful, however, there were no proven evidences to report. Through the literature review, this study intended; 1) to identify the present condition of GMO, 2) to weigh the pros against cons of views on GMO, 3) to study an aspect of society on GMO, and 4) to assert its necessity to mark GMO or not, because citizens have a rights to know natural or GMO. Based on the conclusions of this study, following recommendations were offered: 1) To review continually the GMO in the view point of environmental sociology especially in the areas of food safety, biosafety, trade, and public research investment, and 2) further detailed studies of GMO may necessary to ensure safety to human health and environment.

Hole Filling Algorithm for a Virtual-viewpoint Image by Using a Modified Exemplar Based In-painting

  • In this paper, a new algorithm by using 3D warping technique to effectively fill holes that are produced when creating a virtual-viewpoint image is proposed. A hole is defined as the region that cannot be seen in the reference view when a virtual view is created. In the proposed algorithm, to reduce the blurring effect that occurs on the hole region filled by conventional algorithms and to enhance the texture quality of the generated virtual view, Exemplar Based In-painting algorithm is used. The boundary noise which occurs in the initial virtual view obtained by 3D warping is also removed. After 3D warping, we estimate the relative location of the background to the holes and then pixels adjacent to the background are filled in priority to get better result by not using only adjacent object's information. Also, the temporal inconsistency between frames can be reduced by expanding the search region up to the previous frame when searching for most similar patch. The superiority of the proposed algorithm compared to the existing algorithms can be shown through the experimental results.
