  • In this paper Vehicle driving simulator have been used in the development and modification of models. A real-time simulation system and washout algorithm for an excavator have been developed for a driving simulator with six degrees of freedom. An interesting question, "how the 6 DOF Driving Simulator can be controlled optimally for the various tasks?" is not easy to be answered. This paper presents the hardware and software developed for a driving simulator of construction vehicle. A simulator can reduce cost and time a variety of driving simulations in the laboratory. Using its 6 DOF Simulator can move in various modes, and perform dexterous tasks. Driving simulators have begun to proliferate in the automotive industry and the associated research community. This effort involves the real-time dynamic of wheel-type excavator the design and manufacturing of the Stewart platform an integrated control system of the platform and three-dimensional graphic modeling of the driving environments.

  • Using a conventional railway, a tilting train was applied as a means of improving vehicle speed curve negotiation without any modification of infrastructure. In order to achieve the optimal car-body position control through the tilting mechanism, a dynamics analysis was required after the kinematics analysis of the tilting mechanism. For this, the geometric relationship of the linkage-type tilting mechanism was defined. Then, the equations of motion for the half car-body were derived. With the derived equations, the effect of the parameter change on performance was analyzed. The analysis result can be used in the optimum design of a tilting mechanism that considers the track environment, vehicle and operational conditions in which the tilting vehicle is applied.

  • In this paper, we found that modification of the local flexibility (or local stiffness) of the 4 parts on which shock absorbers are mounted in the vehicle body has some influence the level of ride safety and comfort. Multi-body dynamic analysis considering the flexibility of the vehicle body is performed using MSC/ADAMS and MSC/NASTRAN. More concretely speaking, natural frequencies and mode shapes computed by MSC/NASTRAN are used as input data for multi-body dynamic analysis in MSC/ADAMS. It is confirmed that the ride comfort can be improved by appropriately changing the local stiffness of the vehicle body through several simulations using MSC/ADAMS.

  • In the previous study, car interior noise was analyzed using structural acoustic mode coupling coefficients and noise response in vehicle compartment model was simulated by the developed special purpose program. As a continued study, this paper presents a practical scheme for the interior noise reduction of a passenger car. Noisy panels on the vehicle compartment wall could be easily identified by the analysis using mode coupling coefficients. Numerical simulation for noise reduction was carried out on a simplified vehicle compartment model by using panel contribution factor and the noise reduction effect was verified by the structural modification test using Steel Skin (damping sheet).

  • This study proposes an innovative design guideline to assist the evaluation and improvement of the dynamic comfort of vehicle seating. The existing evaluation method for the comfort of vehicle seating was investigated to broach problems in evaluation. It was found that the currently existing evaluation method employs the resonance frequency of the vibration system composed of the seat and the human body and the maximum vibration transmissibility. This study proposes a design guideline aimed at the enhancement of vibration transmission characteristics above the resonance range, particularly within the range of 10-18 Hz. In order to meet this guideline, a seat was constructed out of foam having a low damping coefficient. It was then installed in a vehicle for a driving test. The driving test confirmed the improvement of the dynamic comfort of the seat. The result of evaluation of the improved seat using the SEAT index, an industry standard widely used to evaluate the dynamic comfort of a seat considering the perceptivity characteristics of the human body, showed that the perceptive vibration transmission had reduced by more than $11\%$. The effect of the modification of seat foam was also verified through a subjective assessment of dynamic comfort of the seats.

  • Body-on-frame type vehicle has a set of frame bushes which are installed between body and frame fur vibration Isolation. Such frame bushes are important vibration transmission paths to passenger space. In order to reduce the vibration level of passenger space, therefore, the change of complex stiffness of the frame bushes is more efficient than modification of other parts of the vehicle such as body, frame and suspension. The purpose of this study is to reduce the vibration level for ride comfort by optimization of complex stiffness of frame bushes. In order to do this end, simple finite element vehicle model was constructed and the complex stiffness of frame bushes was set to be design variable. Objective function was defined to reflect passenger ride comfort and genetic algorithm and sub-structure synthesis were applied for minimization of the objective function.

  • The procurement of mobile microwave scatterometer involve the consideration to ensure vehicle and equipment selection full-filled technical requirement and safety standard in Malaysia. Designing, and modification works involve engineering methodology in determining and selecting a suitable hydraulic telescopic boom that suit a selected vehicle available from the market. The vehicle is also a delivery system for microwave remote sensing equipment and other accessories to any locations in Malaysia. Total loading to be carried by the vehicle is about 4500 kg and its overall weight must be 16,000 kg as recommended by hydraulic telescopic boom manufacturers. The telescopic boom will elevate microwave scatterometer system and antenna to a maximum height of 27 m, and can also be rotated through 360$^{\circ}$. A mechanism is incorporated in the system to enable tracking or monitoring angular movement of the hydraulic telescopic boom when positioned towards required target.

  • Body-on-frame type vehicle has a set of frame bushes between body and frame for vibration isolation. Such frame bushes are important vibration transmission paths to passenger space for excitations during driving. In order to reduce the vibration level of passenger space, therefore, change of complex stiffness of the frame bushes is more efficient than modification of other parts of the vehicle such as body, frame and suspension. The purpose of this study is to reduce the vibration level for ride comfort by optimization of complex stiffness of frame bushes. In order to do this, a simple finite element vehicle model was constructed and complex stiffness of the frame bushes was set to be design variables. The objective function was defined to reflect frequency dependence of passenger ride comfort. Genetic algorithm and sub-structure synthesis were applied for minimization of the objective function. After optimization level at a position of interest on the car body was reduced by about 43.7 % in RMS value. Causes for optimization results are discussed.

  • The traveling salesman problem has been studied for many years since the model can be used for various applications such as vehicle routing, job sequencing, clustering a data array, and so on. In this paper one of the typical exact algorithms for TSP, Minty's, will be modified to improve the performance of the algorithm on the applications without losing simplicity. The Little's algorithm gives good results, however, the simple and plain Minty's algorithm for solving shortest-route problems has the most intuitive appeal. The suggested Minty's modification is based on the creation of penalty-values on the matrix of a TSP. Computer experiments are made to verify the effectiveness of the modification.

  • In recent year, as the demand about low vibration and noise vehicle is increased constantly. automobile companies try to a lot of things to achieve this demand. Gear rattle vibration become an emergency problem to be cured at idling. There are two kinds method to reduce idle gear rattle vibration One is optimization of clutch damper design parameters(stiffness, hysteresis torque, preload, length of lst stage) the other is system parameters modification(inertia, drag torque, backlash, etc) But these methods are impossible to estimate influence rate of each gearpair on the idle gear rattle vibration. In this study, 14degrees of freedom nonlinear model is developed to analyze influnce rate of each gearpair on the idle gear rattle vibration and the counterplan to reduce the gear noise is suggeted through the shift system modification.
