  • Obesity is chronic disease which influenced on health severly. The causes of obesity have been known as life change, lack of excercise, genetic factor, mental and social economic factors. Especially the obesity of women increased the risk of the diseases such as DM, osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease, breast cancer and infertility. The limitations of the widely used negative definition of health as the absence of disease and WHO's 1946 definition of health as total social, psychological and physical well-being have long been recognized (WHO 1958). The Quality of Life (QoL) includes functional ability, the degree and quality of social and community interaction, psychological well-being as somatic sensation and life satisfaction. I investigated to compare the differences between obese women (n=63), non-obese women (n=37) in clinic and general women (n=43, control) on baseline characteristics and WHO QoL-BREF. The purpose of this study is to assist the diagnosis and treatment of obesity. WHO QoL-BREF is self administered type which consisted of 26 questions. The prospective question is calculated with 5 scores by Likert's method. The results are as follows : The means of physical, psychological, social, overall and total scores of QoL were significant among BMI group (P<0.05). The score of control group (BMI < 25) was higher than other groups significantly (P<0.05). In multiple regression analysis, the variable of high school/below middle school was significant in environmental and overall domain of QoL scores (P<0.05). The variable of college/below middle school was significant in environmental, overall domain and total score of QoL scores (P<0.05). The variable of above university/below middle school was significant in physical health, environmental, overall domain and total score in QoL scores (P<0.05). The variable of Health perception (moderate/bad) was positively significant in physical health, environmental, overall domain and total score of QoL scores (P<0.05). The variable of Health perception (good/bed) was positively significant in physical health, environmental, social, overall domain and total score of QoL scores (P<0.05). The variable as BMI non-=obese women/control was negatively significant in social domain of QoL scores (P<0.05). Above the results, It suggests that the variable as BMI did't affect on the QoL in patients and control, but the variables as education and health perception affected on the QoL scores. Further study is required to conduct QoL differences between before and after treatment of obese patients.

  • Different from the conventional planar fracture and simplified Newton model, for power-law slurries with a lower water-cement ratio commonly used in grouting engineering, flow model in geological rough fractures is built based on ten standard profiles from Barton (1977) in this study. The numerical algorithm is validated by experimental results. The flow mechanism, grout superiority, and water plugging of pseudo plastic slurry are revealed. The representations of hydraulic grouting properties for JRCs are obtained. The results show that effective plugging is based on the mechanical mechanisms of the fluctuant structural surface and higher viscosity at the middle of the fissure. The formulas of grouting parameters are always variable with the roughness and shear movement, which play a key role in grouting. The roughness can only be neglected after reaching a threshold. Grouting pressure increases with increasing roughness and has variable responses for different apertures within standard profiles. The whole process can be divided into three stationary zones and three transition zones, and there is a mutation region (10 < JRCs < 14) in smaller geological fractures. The fitting equations of different JRCs are obtained of power-law models satisfying the condition of -2 < coefficient < 0. The effects of small apertures and moderate to larger roughness (JRCs > 10.8) on the permeability of surfaces cannot be underestimated. The determination of grouting parameters depends on the slurry groutability in terms of its weakest link with discontinuous streamlines. For grouting water plugging, the water-cement ratio, grouting pressure and grouting additives should be determined by combining the flow conditions and the apparent widths of the main fracture and rough surface. This study provides a calculation method of grouting parameters for variable cement-based slurries. And the findings can help for better understanding of fluid flow and diffusion in geological fractures.

  • Multivariate cumulative sum (CUSUM) control charts for simultaneously monitoring both means and variances under multivariate normal process are investigated. Performances of multivariate CUSUM schemes are evaluated for matched fixed sampling interval (FSI) and variable sampling interval (VSI) features in terms of average time to signal (ATS), average number of samples to signal (ANSS). Multivariate Shewhart charts are also considered to compare the properties of multivariate CUSUM charts. Numerical results show that presented CUSUM charts are more efficient than the corresponding Shewhart chart for small or moderate shifts and VSI feature with two sampling intervals is more efficient than FSI feature. When small changes in the production process have occurred, CUSUM chart with small reference values will be recommended in terms of the time to signal.

  • This paper is concerned with the applicability of the chi-square approximation to the six disparity statistics: the Pearson chi-square, the generalized likelihood ratio, the power divergence, the blended weight chi-square, the blended weight Hellinger distance, and the negative exponential disparity statistic. Three dimensional contingency tables of small and moderate sample sizes are generated to be fitted to all possible hierarchical log-linear models: the completely independent model, the conditionally independent model, the partial association models, and the model with one variable independent of the other two. For models with direct solutions of expected cell counts, point estimates and confidence intervals of the 90 and 95 percentage points of six statistics are explored. For model without direct solutions, the empirical significant levels and the empirical powers of six statistics to test the significance of the three factor interaction are computed and compared.

  • Gilbert syndrome is the most common inherited disorder of bilirubin glucuronidation. It is characterized by intermittent episodes of jaundice in the absence of hepatocellular disease or hemolysis. Hereditary spherocytosis is the most common inherited hemolytic anemia and is characterized by spherical, osmotically fragile erythrocytes that are selectively trapped by the spleen. The patients have variable degrees of anemia, jaundice, and splenomegaly. Hereditary spherocytosis usually leads to mild-to-moderate elevation of serum bilirubin levels. Severe hyperbilirubinemia compared with the degree of hemolysis should be lead to suspicion of additional clinical conditions such as Gilbert syndrome or thalassemia. We present the case of a 12-year-old boy with extreme jaundice and nausea. The diagnosis of hereditary spherocytosis was confirmed by osmotic fragility test results and that of Gilbert syndrome by genetic analysis findings.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the relative impact of the image of information service on customer's perceived value and satisfaction of R&D information. It also seeks to assess the moderating effect of service users' skills on the value of the service image on the customer. For this purpose, a field study was conducted on users of a public R&D information service called NTIS (National Technology Information Service) in Korea. The findings show that the information service image has a significant impact on customers' perceived value and satisfaction. In addition, customers' perceived value is found to be an important indicator in strengthening customer satisfaction. Findings also reveal that individual personal computer skills moderate the relationship between service image and information value. Further research is needed to strengthen the independent variable in view of the increasing pressure to improve public service quality and customer management.

  • As the dependence on information systems in enterprises has grown dramatically, the importance of implementing information systems in audit has been increased as well. However, there is a lact of about utilization of information system for audit process. Thus, this study is to investigate the factors that effect auditor's adopting Data Analytics to audit work. Through literature research and focus group interview, we added two factors that affect the behavioral intention to UTAUT model. We have selected performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, anxiety, task fit, behavioral intention as variables and verified hypotheses based on survey questionnaires from auditors. As a result, it was found that performance expectations, social influence, task fit influenced the behavior intention. In Addition, we analyzed adding two variables, IT-related work experience and type of auditor as moderate variable. This study has an implication for companies to motivate implementation as well as activation of Data Analytics technique.

  • Incidence of rice blast on new rice cultivars and elite lines was observed from 1995 to 1997 in Icheon, Chuncheon, Jecheon and Naju areas. The observation was made in the nurseries and fields. In the nurseries, three cultivars Grubyeo, Sangjuchalbyeo and Suwon 414 showed moderate levels of resistance to leaf blast, with the disease index 0 to 5. From the field observation, it was found that cultivars Heugjinjubyeo and Unbong 18 were highly resistant to leaf blast, but susceptible to neck blast. In general, there was a great variation yearly and regionally in the incidence of neck blast within the same cultivar, ranging from 0 to 100%. However, the range of neck blast infection was relatively narrower in the cultivars Yunghaebyeo (0∼2.4%) and Suwon 414 (0∼2.2%) during observation period. Races of rice blast fungus were variable at different areas. Among them dominant races were KI-409, KJ-201 and KJ-301.

  • The turbulent mixing rate is a very important variable in the thermal-hydraulic design of nuclear reactors. In this study, the turbulent mixing rate the fluid flows through rod bundles is estimated with the scale analysis on the flow pulsation phenomenon. Based upon the assumption that the turbulent mixing is composed of molecular motion, isotropic turbulent motion (turbulent motion without the flow pulsation), and How pulsation, the scale relation for the mixing is derived as a function of P/D, Re, and Pr. The derived scale relation is compared with published experimental results and shows good agreements. Since the scale relation is applicable to various Prandtl number fluid flows, it is expected to be useful for the thermal-hydraulic analysis of liquid metal coolant reactors as well as of moderate Prandtl number coolant reactors.
