우리나라 건축물에 사용된 목재 수종의 변천 (Changes in the Species of Woods Used for Korean Ancient and Historic Architectures)

  • We investigated the changes in the species of the woods used for Korean ancient and historic architectures, which include prehistoric excavated relics and existing wooden buildings in South Korea. The species data were collected from various sources such as excavation and repair reports, journal papers, and a few unpublished documents. We divided the building Periods as Paleolithic, Neolitic, Bronze Ages, Iron Age/Three Kingdoms, Koryo, Joseon (early, middle, late) and modem periods. In prehistoric periods, hardwoods were major species. Oak (Quercus spp.) woods dominated (94 percent in average); the others (5%) were Juglans mandshurica, Platycarya strobilacea, Castanea crenata, and few softwoods(1%). During Iron Age and Three Kingdom periods, oaks remained as a major species (57%) and others Platycarya strobilacea(21%), Castanea crenata(13%), and Pinus spp. (6%). The oak woods decreased in Koryo period and they occupied only 1.1%. Instead of oaks, pine (Pinus spp., 71%) and Zelkova serrata (22%) dominated in Koryo. In early and middle Joseon periods, pine woods (73%) remain as a major species and the others were oaks (14%) and Zelkova serrata (9%). As late Joseon came, the pine woods occupied more than 88%. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a few boreal species such as larch (Larix spp.) and spruce (Picea spp.), which grow in cold area, were found. We believe they were transported from northern Korea. The existing buildings in Korea are mainly from Joseon period and a few from late Koryo periods. During these periods, pine woods were used for most buildings. For such reason, pine woods were known as 'representative materials for historic buildings'. but earlier times, broad-leaved trees, i.e., oak and Zelkova woods were major materials. The changes in building materials resulted from both climate and human impacts. The dry climate and disturbed forests induce more pines in the mountains. We also compared the wood qualities of the species and found that Zelkova woods were superior ones and deserved more planting for future demands in the repair for historic buildings.

  • 현대사회는 정보화 사회로 모든 사람들이 빠르고 정확한 정보를 필요로 하고 있으며 이러한 정보를 신속히 받아들여 생활에 활용하기를 원한다. 또한 현실의 한정된 공간과 시간에 구애받지 않고 보다 자유로이 상상의 세계를 현실과 같이 경험하고자 한다. 디자인은 '무'에서 '유'를 만들어내는 창조적인 행위로써 '가상'(Virtual)적인 의미를 내포하고 있다. 따라서 디자인은 상상 속에 존재하는 형태나 이미지를 실제로 재현하기 위한 '가상의 현실화'(Reality of Virtuality)작업이라 말할 수 있다. 디자인 분야는 과거로부터 현재까지 컴퓨터 응용 방법들이 많이 활용되었다. 컴퓨터의 발전과 함께 디자인 과정 또한 시간적으로나 방법적으로 간편화되었고 또한 효율적으로 발전하였는데 이러한 의미에서 컴퓨터는 디자인에 지대한 영향을 미치는 하드웨어임에는 틀림이 없다. 이번 연구는 환경디자인(Environmental Design)에 적용되고 있는 컴퓨터 활용 방법에 대해 알아보고 단순한 활용에서 적극적이고 체계적인 방법으로의 모색을 통해 현실감(Presence)을 극대화하여 이를 설계에 적극적으로 도입하는 방안에 대하여 연구하고자 한다. 현재 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 가상현실 시스템(Virtual Reality System)을 환경디자인(Environmental Design)분야에 폭 넓게 활용하여 수준 높은 설계를 제공하고 모의실험을 통한 현실감의 극대화를 도출하고자 하며 앞으로 가상현실 시스템(Virtual Reality System)과 같은 다양한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 기법들이 환경디자인에 적극적으로 도입될 전망이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 이동통신 시스템의 한 형태로 단말기의 하드웨어 구현이 간단하고 IC제작이 경제적 이어서 무선호출시스템 등에 많이 사용되고 있는 FSK 신호 복조를 위한 Quadrature Detector의 디지털 시뮬레이션 모델을 구현하였다. Quadrature Detector는 아날로그 소자로서 입력신호의 주파수에 따라 다른 위상 변화값이 비선형적으로 출력되어 지금까지 시뮬레이션을 통한 정확한 시스템 특성 분석이 어려웠었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 Quadrature Detector를 이용한 FSK 신호의 복조과정을 전개하고 디지털 시뮬레이션 을 수행하여 최적 성능을 도출하였다. 먼저 Quadrature Detector의 시뮬레이션을 위해 RLC 탱크회로 (Tank Circuit)로 구성된 PSN(Phase Shift Network)의 아날로그 전달함수를 First Order Hold 이론을 이용하여 디지털 전달함수로의 등가변환을 유도하였다. 또한 4FSK신호에 대한 Quadrature Detector의 복조신호 출력 형태가 4-level 신호인데, 이를 2개의 비교기(Comparator)만을 사용할 경우 최적 성능을 얻기 위한 임계레벨 결정과 동작 파라메터 Q값 설정방법을 제안하였으며 BER 분석을 통해 검증하였다

  • The CAD/CAM system for the manufacturing automation is the newest technology in mechanical engineering area and becomes the important research subject nowadays. Most of all hardwares and softwares for the CAD/CAM system used in the our manufacturing companies such as automobile company are developed by the foreign country and the purchasing price of them is very expensive but their applicability to a certain area is very limited. This study was conducted to develope a CAD/CAM system for the design and the automatic manufacturing of the iron pattern shaped with 3 - dimensional free curved surface, and to test its applicability to the design and the manufacturing of the rotary blade. The results obtained from the study are as follow; 1. The CAD system which can process graphic procedures from the free curved surface shaped data was developed with personal computer. 2. The CAM main program was developed. This main program could produce CL data from CAD data file by checking the tool interference according to the cutting mode. 3. The sub. program which can simulate the tool trace from the CL data was developed. 4. The post processor for the Deckel FP2NC NC milling machine from CL data file was developed and the sub program could transmit NC program through modem to NC milling machine was developed. 5. The developed CAM system seemed to be applicable to any other system. Because the measuring results of the cross sectional thickness of the plastic model from the manufacturing iron pattern by the system showed that this system could properly check the tool interference. 6. In took 75~90 hours to manufacture two iron patterns of rotary blade. For the sake of convenience in applying to the other systems, this system was developed in BASIC and FORTRAN computer language and minimum portion of machine language as possible.

비정규 과학학습으로 본 드라마 '카이스트' 평가 (An Appraisal of Drama 'KAIST' As an Informal Science Learning)

  • 과학기술 및 과학기술자를 소재로 TV에서 방영된 드라마 카이스트'를 비정규 과학학습의 관점에서 평가하기 위해 드라마 '카이스트'가 학생들에게 미친 영향과 이에 대한 교사들의 평가를 조사하였다. 드라마 '카이스트'는 컴퓨터, 로봇축구, 우리별과 같은 소재를 이용하여 과학기술과 과학기술자들의 생활을 묘사함으로써 학생들에게 많은 관심을 불러일으켰으며, 과학기술자에 대해 학생들이 평소에 생각하던 것과 다른 이미지를 제시했고, 특히 과학기술자 과학기술 전반, 과학기술의 사회성에 대한 태도를 긍정적으로 변화시켜 비정규 과학학습의 소재로서 대체로 긍정적인 역할을 하였다. 교사들은 드라마 '카이스트'가 과학에 대한 흥미와 관심을 유발하였지만, 비현실적인 내용을 다루거나 과학자의 천재성을 부각하는 것은 잠재적으로 부정적인 효과를 가져올 수 있으므로 흥미위주에서 탈피하여 실패와 좌절을 겪는 평범한 과학자의 모습을 제시해야 할 필요가 있다고 평가하였다.

다중기준국 방식을 이용한 GPS 반송파 상대측위 정확도 향상 (Improvement of Relative Positioning Accuracy with GPS Carrier Phase Using Multi-Base Station)

  • 일반적으로 단일기준국을 이용하는 실시간 동적(Real Time Kinematic) GPS는 무선모뎀을 통해 반송파 오차보정량을 이동국으로 전송하여 현장에서 바로 고정밀의 위치를 결정할 수 있다. 하지만 단일기준국 방식은 각 위성마다의 시간대별 반송파 측정값을 지속적으로 제공해야 하며, 전송장해와 모뎀간의 거리 따른 증가 등으로 위치정확도가 저하되는 단점이 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 3대 이상의 다중기준국을 활용한 네트워크 기반의 GPS 반송파 상대측위기술을 구현하였으며, Visual C++로 제작된 실시간 모니터링 프로그램을 이용하여 RTK 네트워크를 구성하였다. 네트워크 구성에서 얻어지는 다중기준국의 오차보정량 가운데 최적의 값을 자동으로 선택하고, GPS buoy 이동국에 적용하여 해수면 관측을 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 얻어진 해수면 변동량을 단일기준국과 비교, 분석하여 결과를 도출하였다.

인간 Y 염색체: 구조, 기능 그리고 진화 (Human Y Chromosome: Structure, Function and Evolution)

  • 인간 Y 염색체는 엄격히 부계 유전되고 그 길이의 대부분은 남성 감수분열 동안 교차가 일어나지 않는다. 비록 이영역이 비 재조합 영역 Y (non-recombining region Y: NRY)로 불려왔지만, 풍부한 재조합의 발견으로 그것은 남성 특이 영역 (male-specific region Y: MSY)으로 재 명명(命名)되었다. MSY는 이질염색질 (heterochromatin) 서열과 세가지 분류의 진정염색질 (euchromatin) 서열 (X-전위영역, X-퇴화영역, 증폭영역)이 모자이크화 되어있다. X-전위영역의 서열은 X 염색체의 상동 좌위와 약 99% 동일성을 가진다. X-퇴화영역 서열은 고대 상 염색체가 현대의 X와 Y 염색체로 진화되면서 남아 있는 부분이다. 증폭영역의 8개의 회문구조는 인간 Y염색체의 남성 특이영역의 4분의 1을 차지한다. 이들은 많은 정소 특이 유전자를 포함하고, 회문구조서열 사이의 상동성은 약 99.97%이다. 이 회문구조의 양쪽 팔은 계속되는 유전자 교환에 의해 유지되며, 서로 협력하여 진화된다. 새로 태어나는 남성당 평균 약 600 염기당 하나가 Y-Y유전자 교환을 겪고, 정소 특이적 다중유전자군의 진화에 중요한 역할을 한다.

건강가정기본법의 이념과 체계 (The Ideologies and the Systems of the Healthy Family Act)

  • Korean society recently realized the needs for a system that may effectively prevent and/or resolve different family problems caused by the rapidly changing modem society. In order to carry out this objectives. The Healthy Family Act has been legislated and is to be enforced from the 1st of January, 2005. Legislating the law is a means to establish an administrative and institutional structure that may bring in the total welfare system centered around family, so as to promote healthy families in our society. This is also a land marking event that has shifted the paradigm from the welfare system focusing on individual protection to the total welfare system based upon family units. Hence, this study is to examine the specific concepts of 'healthy family,' which is the goal of The Healthy Family Act, and thus to propose the objectives of the law by analysing the institutional system of it. The Healthy Family Act, which consists of major 37 items of 5 chapters with supplementary provisions, aims at the five ideals as follows. The first is to promote the healthy family which is the basis of individual welfare and well-to-do society. The second is to emphasize the importance of family and to provide total service system for family unit. The third is to establish the family value which supports gender-equality and democracy. The fourth is to reinforce the governmental support for independence and cooperation of family. And the fifth is to promote the in-advance and precautionary support for family problems. The law also includes administrative methods for Strong Families Center, different projects and programs for promoting healthy families, roles of Healthy Family Specialist and means to cultivating them, and the policies to specifically carry out the ideas of the law. It is now important to recognize that the development of nation is based on the healthy families and to put much effort in carrying out the ideas and goals of The Healthy Family Act.

1980년대 이후 한국 주거문화에 나타난 근대화의 재평가 (Revaluation of the Modernization in the Korean Housing Culture Since 1980s′)

  • Since 1980s' Korea had a great change on the housing culture by the supply of multi-family housing stock both on the macro-social and micro-social aspects. The purpose of this study was to examine the changes and the characteristics of housing environments which were estimated its modernization, and to examine the personal life under the change of housing environments. So I would like to revaluation the characteristics of modernization between the 1980s' and 1990s'. Therefore references were made to various papers, reports, the statistical data, newspaper reports, advertisements and magazines during that period. As a result, this paper came to the remarks as follows: 1. The success of modernization on the housing environments since 1980s' was the Quantitative growth of housing supply by multi-family housing. In spite of this, the Quantitative growth of housing supply and the improvement in Quality like housing space per person had the characters which was 'out of valence on the division'. 2. The Qualitative improvement of modem housing life by the development of housing industries could be said the improvement owing to develop of facilities and equipments. The introduction of up-to-date facilities and equipments realized the convenience and the rationality of living in the house. Although the improvement on the physical things deteriorated the modernized spaces to uniform things by commercial strategies. 3. The life in the multi-family housing which gives protection to personal privacy was settle down on the extremely individualized life without common things within the neighbors. Multi-family housing which was a production of process of modernization came true the growth in an appearance and the variety in the inside, but for the aspect of residents' everyday life in the multi-family housing, the Korean traditional relationship was collapsed and a sense of incompatibility within the residents was created.

전북지역 樓亭 및 寺刹의 借景에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Borrowed Landscape of Arbors and Temples in Jeonbuk Province)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics and differences of borrowed landscape in traditional arbors and temples in Jeonbuk province. And this study is attempted to widespread the width of understanding the traditional landscape borrowing method for contributing in modem reception and creation of landscape architectural culture. For this, 30 traditional arbors and 30 traditional temples in Jeonbuk province were selected. The orientation of the place of view point, distance, vertical and horizontal angle were surveyed for identifying the structure of borrowed landscape. Furthermore main element, auxiliary element and a media of borrowed landscape were surveyed also. Two hypothesis were established for verifying the feasibility and real effectiveness of research results. First, the willingness of borrowed landscape shall be being in establishing traditional arbors and temples. Second, this willingness of borrowed landscape shall be accomplished in arbor space more positively than in temple space. The results of this study are as follows; 1. In temples, the surrounding landscape adapted in Buddhism principles are principally expressed, whereas in arbors, congregating landscape, variety landscape, background landscape for establishing good view point and enframed landscape are induced for making authoritative landscape as various borrowed landscape techniques. 2. The distance to borrowed landscape in temples is involved in far landscape region, whereas that in arbors is in middle and near. In comparative with temples, the arbors shows variety in distance to the borrowed landscape objects. 3. Down view borrowing is used generally in arbors, whereas upper view borrowing is used in temples at the view angle to the borrowed landscape objects. 4. Borrowed landscape objects are more considered factors than view scope in arbors. Main elements for borrowing landscape are very various arbors, but those are simple as mountains and peaks in temples. And natural elements are much more than artificial things in arbors as a media of borrowing landscape in comparative with temples.
