The pullout capacity of plate anchors has been studied extensively over the past 40 years. However, very few studies have attempted to calculate the pullout capacity of anchors in sandy slopes. In this paper, three upper bound approaches are used to study the effect of a sloping ground surface and friction angle on pullout capacity and failure of plate anchors. This includes the use of; simple upper bound mechanisms; the block set mechanism approach; and finite element upper bound limit analysis. The aim of this research is to better understand the various failure mechanisms and to develop a simple methodology for estimating the pullout capacity of anchors in sandy slopes.
P2X receptors are ATP-activated ion channels in the plasma membrane. P2X receptors have a role in a diverse range of disorders, making them a valuable therapeutic target. Hence, the present investigation employed homology modelling of the P2X receptor based on the crystal structure of 5SVJ, 6AH4, 5YVE and 5SVL. Twenty models, using both single- and multiple template-based methods, were developed, and the best model was chosen based on the validation result. We observed that a strategy based on multiple templates provided greater accuracy. Future studies involving binding site and docking analysis can make use of the produced structures.
Identification of damping characteristics is of significant importance for dynamic response analysis and condition assessment of structural systems. Damping is associated with the behavior of the energy dissipation mechanism. Identification of damping ratios based on the sensitivity of dynamic responses and the model updating technique is investigated with numerical and experimental investigations. The effectiveness and performance of using the sensitivity-based model updating method and vibration monitoring data for damping ratios identification are investigated. Numerical studies on a three-dimensional truss bridge model are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Measurement noise effect and the initial finite element modelling errors are considered. The results demonstrate that the damping ratio identification with the proposed approach is not sensitive to the noise effect but could be affected significantly by the modelling errors. Experimental studies on a steel planar frame structure are conducted. The robustness and performance of the proposed damping identification approach are investigated with real measured vibration data. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach has a decent and reliable performance to identify the damping ratios.
Reinforced concrete (RC) structures consist of two different materials: concrete and steel bar. The stress transfer behaviour between the two materials through bond plays an important role in the load-carrying capacity of RC structures, especially when they subject to lateral load such as blast and seismic load. Therefore, bond and slip between concrete and reinforcement bar will affect the response of RC structures under such loads. However, in most numerical analyses of blast-induced structural responses, the perfect bond between concrete and steel bar is often assumed. The main reason is that it is very difficult to model bond slip in the commercial finite element software, especially in hydrodynamic codes. In the present study, a one-dimensional slide line contact model in LS-DYNA for modeling sliding of rebar along a string of concrete nodes is creatively used to model the bond slip between concrete and steel bars in RC structures. In order to model the bond slip accurately, a new approach to define the parameters of the one-dimensional slide line model from common pullout test data is proposed. Reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach and the one-dimensional slide line in modelling the bond slip between concrete and steel bar are demonstrated through comparison of numerical results and experimental data. A case study is then carried out to investigate the bond slip effect on numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of a RC column. Parametric studies are also conducted to investigate the effect of bond shear modulus, maximum elastic slip strain, and damage curve exponential coefficient on blast-induced response of RC columns. Finally, recommendations are given for modelling the bond slip in numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of RC columns.
Character plays an important role not merely in animation but also in the modern image industry. From this perspective a new academic approach to and an analysis of character seems of much significance. With this in view this study carried out an elucidation of the basic factors and concept of plasticity for the creation of animation character on the basis of animation structural elements. Furthermore, an inquiry was conducted into fundamental requirements and factors of animation characters, human anatomy serving as the basis of forms for animation character modelling, the characteristics and techniques for creating animation cubic character, and then suggested a method of creation. In this process it was revealed that integral cubic character was applied to diverse animations, that character of high density was prerequisite for the creation of creative and effective animations, and that cubic character plasticity played a catalytic role in activation popular sympathy and the character industry.

Recently, increasing cases of ground subsidence in the urban area has become social issue, and related bill has been passed. Ground subsidence occurs through complex combination of various factors, and numerical analysis of this problem is limited thereby. This is why verification of ground subsidence mechanism has been conducted through physical modelling. Previous researches has been focused on modelling ground subsidence caused by utility pipe defects, and there has been insufficient physical modelling study on ground subsidence caused by various reasons such as groundwater flow and excavation activity. Also, most previous physical modelling studies were performed in 1g condition, which cannot take the in-situ stress condition into the evaluation of the ground subsidence mechanism. Therefore, in this study, physical modelling techniques to simulate various conditions is discussed by studying the previous researches on the ground subsidence mechanism through physical modelling. Also, centrifuge modelling test is suggested in this study as the technique to perform more reliable evaluation of ground subsidence mechanism. Lastly, this study suggests to apply the techniques used in the evaluation of ground subsidence mechanism into Ground Stability Assessment.

Land cover classification is an essential basic information in natural environment management; however, land cover classification studies in Korea have not yet been proceeded to a sufficient level. At the present, only a limited number of the precedent studies that only cover definite city area has been conducted. Furthermore, there is almost no research conducted on the land cover classification schemes that could accurately classify the Korea's land cover conditions. This study primarily focuses on the land cover classification scheme which carries the most urgent priority in order to classify and to map out the Korean land cover conditions. In order to develop the most suitable land cover classification scheme, many foreign land cover classification cases and projects that are being carried out were reviewed in depth. The land cover classification scheme this study proposes comprises 3 levels : The first level consists of 7 different classes; the second level consists of 22 different classes; and the third level is made up of 50 classes. The land cover classification map will serve many important roles in natural environment management, such as the conjecture of natural habitats and estimation of oxygen production or carbon dioxide absorption capability of a forest. In water pollution modelling, the land cover classification data can be used to estimate and locate non-point sources of water pollution. If applied to a watershed, modelling it will allow to estimate the total amount of pollution from non-point sources of pollution in the water shed. The land cover classification data will also be good as a barometer data that determines defusion of air pollutants in air pollution modelling.

This study aimed to identify the knowledge structure of researches on 'untact' and derived implications for directions for the studies using text mining. The study included network analysis and topic modelling of keywords and abstracts from 171 thesis published until October 2020. Centrality analysis showed that 'untact' studies had been focused on service, usage, consumption, technology and online. From the topic modelling, 6 topics such as 'COVID-19 and socio-technological change', 'needs and utilization of education contents', 'technology and service for user convenience', 'product marketing and sales', 'service design of the company', 'influence factors of usage and consumption' were extracted. Keywords that connect each topic were technology, service, usage, consumption, needs and factor. Exploratory analysis of 'untact' researches using text mining provides useful results for development of 'untact' studies.

In tunnels, safety factor concept has been suggested to estimate their stability quantitatively. It is merely limited in the framework of mechanical analysis. However safety factor concept has not been applied in hydro-mechanical coupled analyses due to their modelling complexity. Recently studies on this topic are being actively made. In this study, induced drainage modelling methods for hydro-mechanical coupled analyses are compared and analyzed to estimate safety factor of a subsea tunnel exactly. To this end, methods both controlling hydraulic characteristic of shotcrete and using a drainage well are considered. Sensitivity analysis were carried out on rock class, thickness of shotcrete, and hydraulic properties of rock mass. As the results of this study, it turned out that the induced drainage modelling using a drainage well would give more reliable results than that of controlling hydraulic characteristic of shotcrete in estimating tunnel stability in hydro-mechanical coupled analyses.
