Calibration for Color Measurement of Lean Tissue and Fat of the Beef

  • In the agricultural field, a machine vision system has been widely used to automate most inspection processes especially in quality grading. Though machine vision system was very effective in quantifying geometrical quality factors, it had a deficiency in quantifying color information. This study was conducted to evaluate color of beef using machine vision system. Though measuring color of a beef using machine vision system had an advantage of covering whole lean tissue area at a time compared to a colorimeter, it revealed the problem of sensitivity depending on the system components such as types of camera, lighting conditions, and so on. The effect of color balancing control of a camera was investigated and multi-layer BP neural network based color calibration process was developed. Color calibration network model was trained using reference color patches and showed the high correlation with L*a*b* coordinates of a colorimeter. The proposed calibration process showed the successful adaptability to various measurement environments such as different types of cameras and light sources. Compared results with the proposed calibration process and MLR based calibration were also presented. Color calibration network was also successfully applied to measure the color of the beef. However, it was suggested that reflectance properties of reference materials for calibration and test materials should be considered to achieve more accurate color measurement.

  • This paper presents a proactive longitudinal motion planning algorithm for improving the safety of an automated bus. Since the field of view (FOV) of the autonomous vehicle was limited depending on onboard sensors' performance and surrounding environments, it was necessary to implement vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication for overcoming the limitation. After a virtual V2V-equipped target was constructed considering information obtained from V2V communication, the reference motion of the ego vehicle was determined by considering the state of both the V2V-equipped target and the sensor-detected target. Model predictive control (MPC) was implemented to calculate the optimal motion considering the reference motion and the chance constraint, which was deduced from manual driving data. The improvement in driving safety was confirmed through vehicle tests along actual urban roads.

Feasibility study of the beating cancellation during the satellite vibration test

  • The difficulties of satellite vibration testing are due to the commonly expressed qualification requirements being incompatible with the limited performance of the entire controlled system (satellite + interface + shaker + controller). Two features cause the problem: firstly, the main satellite modes (i.e., the first structural mode and the high and low tank modes) are very weakly damped; secondly, the controller is just too basic to achieve the expected performance in such cases. The combination of these two issues results in oscillations around the notching levels and high amplitude beating immediately after the mode. The beating overshoots are a major risk source because they can result in the test being aborted if the qualification upper limit is exceeded. Although the abort is, in itself, a safety measure protecting the tested satellite, it increases the risk of structural fatigue, firstly because the abort threshold has been already reached, and secondly, because the test must restart at the same close-resonance frequency and remain there until the qualification level is reached and the sweep frequency can continue. The beat minimum relates only to small successive frequency ranges in which the qualification level is not reached. Although they are less problematic because they do not cause an inadvertent test shutdown, such situations inevitably result in waiver requests from the client. A controlled-system analysis indicates an operating principle that cannot provide sufficient stability: the drive calculation (which controls the process) simply multiplies the frequency reference (usually called cola) and a function of the following setpoint, the ratio between the amplitude already reached and the previous setpoint, and the compression factor. This function value changes at each cola interval, but it never takes into account the sensor signal phase. Because of these limitations, we firstly examined whether it was possible to empirically determine, using a series of tests with a very simple dummy, a controller setting process that significantly improves the results. As the attempt failed, we have performed simulations seeking an optimum adjustment by finding the Least Mean Square of the difference between the reference and response signal. The simulations showed a significant improvement during the notch beat and a small reduction in the beat amplitude. However, the small improvement in this process was not useful because it highlighted the need to change the reference at each cola interval, sometimes with instructions almost twice the qualification level. Another uncertainty regarding the consequences of such an approach involves the impact of differences between the estimated model (used in the simulation) and the actual system. As limitations in the current controller were identified in different approaches, we considered the feasibility of a new controller that takes into account an estimated single-input multi-output (SIMO) model. Its parameters were estimated from a very low-level throughput. Against this backdrop, we analyzed the feasibility of an LQG control in cancelling beating, and this article highlights the relevance of such an approach.

변압 관류형 초임계압 화력발전소 전범위 시뮬레이터 개발 (The development of full-scope replica simulator for variable supercritical pressure once-through fossil power plants)

  • A full-scope replica type simulator whose MCR(main control room) has the same features and operation functions as MCR of the reference power plant has been developed for a fossil power plant. This simulator was developed with the model of Poryung Fossil Power Plant #3,4 which is the standard model of the Korean fossil power plant. It is the first localized simulator for the supercritical, variable boiler pressure type fossil power plant. The simulator provides various kinds of accidents which are in normal plant operation and thus enables operators to recover or reduce possible damages. To design and develop this kind of simulator, we need to integrate high technologies such as system analysis, plant operation and system integration of mechanics, physics, computer science. CASE(Computer Aided Software Engineering) tools were used to develop the dynamic model. This simulator will greatly contribute to the improvement of the safety and efficiency of the fossil power plant by implementing operator training. In this paper, the outline of software and hardware configuration and characteristics of the simulator are described, and the results of 30%, 50%, 75%, 100% load operation test will be discussed.

GRU기반 전력사용량 예측을 적용한 스마트 미터기 구현 (Implementation of Smart Meter Applying Power Consumption Prediction Based on GRU Model)

  • 본 논문에서는 효율적 에너지 관리를 위해 인공 신경망 중 하나인 GRU 모델을 사용하여 전력사용량을 예측하고 예측된 전력사용량과 실제 전력사용량의 비교를 통해 부하를 자동 제어 하는 스마트 미터기를 제안한다. 제안한 스마트 미터기를 통해 GRU 모델을 학습시키기 위해 필요한 전력사용량 데이터를 수집했다. 구현된 스마트 미터기가 전력사용량 자동측정 및 실시간 관찰 기능과 전력사용량 예측을 통한 부하 제어 기능을 가지고 있음을 보여준다. 성능평가 지표 중 하나인 Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) 값에 약 20%의 마진 값을 이용하여 부하 자동 제어를 위한 기준 값으로 설정했다. 부하 자동 제어 기능을 가진 스마트 미터기로 인해 에너지 관리의 효율성이 증대되는 것을 확인하였다.

TMD의 질량 변화에 따른 개폐식 대공간 구조물의 지진응답 제어성능 분석 (Seismic Response Control Performance Evaluation of Retractable-Roof Spatial Structure With Variation of TMD Mass)

  • In the precedent study, the retractable-roof spatial structure was selected as the analytical model and a tuned mass damper (TMD) was installed to control the dynamic response for the earthquake loads. Also, it is analyzed that the installation location of TMD in the analytical model and the optimal number of installations. A single TMD mass installed in the analytical model was set up 1% of the mass of the whole structure, and the optimum installation location was derived according to the number of change. As a result, it was verified that most effective to install eight TMDs regardless of opening or closing. Thus, in this study, eight TMDs were installed in the retractable-roof spatial structure and the optimum mass ratio was inquired while reducing a single TMD. In addition, the optimum mass distribution ratio was identified by redistributing the TMD masses differently depending on the installation position, using the mass ratio of vibration control being the most effective for seismic load. From the analysis results, as it is possible to confirm the optimum mass distribution ratio according to the optimum mass ratio and installation location of the TMD in the the retractable-roof spatial structure, it can be used as a reference in the TMD design for large space structure.

전기기계식 제동장치의 제동패드 마모보상방법 및 성능평가 (A Brake Pad Wear Compensation Method and Performance Evaluation for ElectroMechanical Brake)

  • 본 논문은 전기기계식제동장치(EMB : Electro Mechanical Brake, 이하 EMB)의 제동패드 마모발생에 따른 소프트웨어 기반의 마모보상방법의 적용 및 성능평가를 다루었다. EMB의 구동을 위해 사용된 모터는 3상 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM : Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, 이하 IPMSM)가 사용되었다. EMB의 압부력(clamping force) 제어를 위해 위치제어기, 속도제어기 및 전류제어기가 적용되었으며, IPMSM의 출력 압부력 예측을 위해 모터의 거리별 압부력 실험을 통하여 힘 추정기(force estimator)를 1차 모델식으로 단순화 하였다. 제동패드에서 마모가 발생함에 따라 IPMSM에서 출력되는 토크전류의 크기가 감소하는 특성을 이용하여 기준 토크전류와의 비교를 통해 힘 추정기를 업데이트하는 방법으로 마모보상이 가능함을 보였다. 제동패드의 마모 후 최대 압부력 도달시간이 0.1초 이내로 증가하였으나, 마모패드 장착시에도 제동압부력은 마모 전 제동패드와 동일한 최대 기준 압부력을 만족하였으며, 최대압부력 도달시간의 경우 0.5초(기준값) 이내임을 실험으로 검증하였다. 소프트웨어 기반의 EMB 제동패드의 마모보상 방법은 철도차량의 출발 전 제동장치 점검시 테스트모드의 진입을 통하여 수행이 가능하다.

무게중심위치와 슬라이딩 모드 제어를 통한 이륜형 모바일 머니퓰레이터의 자세제어 (Attitude Control of A Two-wheeled Mobile Manipulator by Using the Location of the Center of Gravity and Sliding Mode Controller)

  • This paper proposes an attitude control system to keep the balance for a two-wheeled mobile manipulator which consists of a mobile platform and a three D.O.F. manipulator. In the conventional control scheme, complicated dynamics of the manipulator need to be derived for balancing control of a mobile manipulator. The method proposed in this paper, however, three links are considered as one body of mass and the dynamics are derived easily by using an inverted pendulum model. One of the best advantage of a sliding mode controller is low sensitivity to plant parameter variations and disturbances, which eliminates the necessity of exact modeling to control the system. Therefore the sliding mode control algorithm has been adopted in this research for the attitude control of mobile platform along the pitch axis. The center of gravity for the whole mobile manipulator is changing depending on the motion of the manipulator. And the orientation variation of center of gravity is used as reference input for the sliding mode controller of the pitch axis to maintain the center of gravity in the middle of robot to keep the balance for the robot. To confirm the performance of controller, MATLAB Simulink has been used and the resulting algorithms are applied to a real robot to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed attitude control.

Modified Direct Torque Control using Algorithm Control of Stator Flux Estimation and Space Vector Modulation Based on Fuzzy Logic Control for Achieving High Performance from Induction Motors

  • Direct torque control based on space vector modulation (SVM-DTC) protects the DTC transient merits. Furthermore, it creates better quality steady-state performance in a wide speed range. The modified method of DTC using SVM improves the electrical magnitudes of asynchronous machines, such as minimizing the stator current distortions, the stator flux with electromagnetic torque without ripple, the fast response of the rotor speed, and the constant switching frequency. In this paper, the proposed method is based on two new control strategies for direct torque control with space vector modulation. First, fuzzy logic control is used instead of the PI torque and a PI flux controller to minimizing the torque error and to achieve a constant switching frequency. The voltages in the direct and quadratic reference frame ($V_d$, $V_q$) are achieved by fuzzy logic control. In this scheme, the switching capability of the inverter is fully utilized, which improves the system performance. Second, the close loop of stator flux estimation based on the voltage model and a low pass filter is used to counteract the drawbacks in the open loop of the stator flux such as the problems saturation and dc drift. The response of this new control strategy is compared with DTC-SVM. The experimental and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control topology outperforms the conventional DTC-SVM in terms of system robustness and eliminating the bad outcome of dc-offset.

정천화담강기탕가녹용(定喘化痰降氣湯加鹿茸)이 Formalin으로 유발된 마우스의 만성 염증에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang Plus Antler in Formalin-injected Chronic Inflammation Model in Mice)

  • In the present study, the anti-inflammatory effect of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang plus antler water extract was tested in formalin-injected chronic inflammation model in mouse hind paw. The test articles were dosed once a day for 10 days, and changes on the body weight, paw weights were observed with histopathology of induced paw dorsum pedis. In addition, histomorphometry was also monitored at sacrifice. 15 mg/kg/10 mL of dexamethasone (DEXA) and diclofenac (DICLO) intraperitoneally dosed groups were used as reference groups. A significantly decrease of both absolute and relative paw weights were observed in all dosing groups including DEXA and DICLO groups compared to that of control, and a significantly decrease of the differences between intact and induced paw weights were also observed Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang plus antler dosing groups compared to that of control. These histological signs-hypertrophy of paw dorsum pedis tissues were detected results from edematous changes on the cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues with severe infiltration of chronic inflammatory cells-were dramatically decreased in all dosing groups including DEXA and DICLO dosing groups compared to that of control. Especially, dose dependently decreases were detected in Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang plus antler dosing groups compared to that of control. Base on these aforementioned results, it is concluded that Jungcheonhwadam- gangki-tang plus antler have clear anti-inflammatory effect on the chronic inflammation induced by formalin injection.
