  • In the present study, the flame factor which primarily influence the simulation accuracy of the combustion process in a gasoline engine was modeled as a nonlinear function of turbulent intensity to laminar flame speed ratio. Multi-length-scale production rate model for turbulent kinetic energy equation was introduced to consider the different length scales of the swirling and tumbling motions in cylinder on the production rte of turbulent kinetic energy. By7 introducing the multi-length-scale production rate model for the turbulent kinetic energy equation, the predictions of turbulent burning velocity , cylinder pressure, mass burning rate and engine performance of a gasoline engine can much be improved.

  • The small-scale models have been utilized for the prediction of inelastic behavior of reinforced concrete structures for several decades. The parameters that affect the similitude between the model and prototype are various. Among them, the effect of bond between the model reinforcement and the model concrete is one of the most important factors. The study reported herein is addressed to verifying this similitude in bond behavior. The simple beams which have the lap splice at the midspan were made and flexural tests were performed under two-point loading. The length of lap splice are varied from 0.4ld through 0.7ld and up to 1.0ld where ld is the development length of the reinforcement. The selected scales are 1/1, 1/5, 1/10 and 1/12. Two prototype specimens and three models were tested in addition to the associated material tests and the test results are compared from the viewpoint of similitude.

  • In this paper, an EMM(Equivalent Mechanical Model) Is developed to explain the voltage collapse mechanism by reflecting the effects of reactive powers. The proposed EMM exactly represents the voltage instability mechanism described by the system equations. By the use of the EMM model, the voltage collapse mechanism has been illustrated by showing the exactness of the results. The stable region has been investigated with a reactive-power-controlled two-bus system, which shows that special alerts are required when the system operates with leading power factor. It is also discussed a system transform technique to eliminate the resistance component of the Thevenin equivalent impedance for practical applications. Finally, the results adopting the proposed method fur sample systems which were transformed are listed

  • The purpose of this study was to test a structural model about family income as causally related to family hardiness, pile-up stress, communication, and family adaptation in families of children with disabilities. 250 families of children with disabilities participated as subjects. The models were developed on the basis of confirmatory factor analysis and compared using covariance structure modeling(LISREL). Adequate fitness of the model was observed. Family income showed negative effect on pile-up stress and positive effect on family adaptation. Pile-up stress showed negative effect on family hardiness. Family hardiness showed positive effect on family communication, and family communication showed positive effect on family adaptation.

  • To review application of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) transmission line to HVAC T/L in operation, reduced-scale model was designed and manufactured. The arms of model were designed to change height and interval of conductors. Electrical environmental interferences were estimated by various configuration of AC 345kV and DC 250kV T/L. The interferences such as electric field intensity and ion current density were measured and converted reduced-scale factor to full-scaled. Additionally, effects between AC and DC T/L were studied.

  • The aspect of visual accessibility to urban green spaces is an important factor because it contributes making pleasant environment by increasing the visual experience of nature in urban environment. But we have tried neither to consider nor to measure it. Since he concept of visual accessibility has not formally defined yet, it was operationally defined in this study. And then the model of measuring visual accessibility was suggested and verified through the case study on neighborhood parks in Seoul. The findings are as follows : 1) The concept of visual accessibility is defined as opportunity and potentiality to observe green spaces. 2) The model of measuring visual accessibility deals with not only adjacent area but also viewshed area. In adjacent area, considering factors are the area of road adjacent to green spaces and the area of exposed green spaces. In viewshed area, considering factors are the area of road located in viewshed area, the area of exposed green spaces, and the weight according to observing distance. 3) The final model of measuring visual accessibility suggested in this study is as follows.

  • The coherent flamelet model(CFM) is applied to symmetric counterflow turbulent premixed flames. The flame source term is set proportional to the turbulence intensity to reproduce the experimental correlation of Abdel-Gayed et al. for the turbulent burning velocity. Flame quenching by the turbulent rate of strain is modeled by an additional multiplication factor to the flame source term. A modified form of CFM is employed to consider coexistence of burned and unburned premixture with ambient air. The predicted flame position and turbulent flow field coincide well with the experimental data of Kostiuk et al., although there is some discrepancy in the radial rms velocity component and integral length scale near the symmetric plane.

  • In the development of complex software system, it is important to use hierarchical use case model due to the complex scope of development procedure. The use case model is core factor of the OMG (Object Management Group)'s UML (Unified Modeling Language) diagrams. In this paper, we propose a novel method to check syntactic consistency automatically in use case models at the different level of abstraction. This method is a rule-based approach which utilizes actor tree, use case tree and use case description. The proposed method is simulated on ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) architecture for the verification.

  • Many corporations will get much mote benefits if they investigate the model deciding to purchasing mobile phone in that cell phone of our country has about 20% of market share in the world market. Considering this situation to divide cell phone market between CDMA and GSM in world market, it is not easy to make cell phone to satisfy the suitable method which each country wants. Through this study, we anticipate that it will offer the measuring method about consumer purchasing decision of each country. The research is to study how it is Effected by any factor when comsumer selects product and make research model. Based on the research model, we is to make a question. The research Is to complete the theoretical system on the basis of records about the cell phone and to study the improvement strategic using AHP and Conjoint Analysis which analyzes the consuming trend to customer's cell phone.

  • Major factors inhibiting nonenzymatic browning in stored ginger paste were investigated using aqueous model systems with temperature, water activity, pH and sulfur compounds. Browning index and total gingerols were measured during storage. The rate of nonenzymatic browning reactions showed a strong depencence on temperature and pH and a negligible influence on water activity. It was also reduced by the addition of 0.04% N-actyl-L-cysteine(NAcCys), effectively. Activation energies for aqueous ginger model systems with and without 0.04% NAcCys were 29.0 and 25.8kcal/mole, respectively.
