Exploring the Personal Innovativeness Construct: The Roles of Ease of Use, Satisfaction and Attitudes

  • The use of global mobile technology has increased exponentially. In particular, a survey of consumers in the Philippines showed that 83% "could not live" without their mobile phones. We investigated factors, such as ease of use and personal innovativeness, to elucidate the consumer adoption of mobile technologies in the Philippines, to integrate existing adoption theories for academics and provide recommendations to practitioners based on our findings. Our research questions are as follows: (1) What key factors drive adoption of mobile technologies by Filipino consumers?; (2) Are Filipino consumers innovative in their use of mobile technologies?; And (3) How can telecom companies retain their customers? A structural equation model, which was built from a survey of 528 mobile Filipino consumers, showed support for repurchase intention to use mobile technologies. The hypotheses were generally supported by variables related to mobile phone usage with the Philippine consumer sample. Results support all of the hypothesized relationships for consumers using mobile technologies. Personal innovativeness did load on both attitude and repurchase intention for mobile applications as originally hypothesized but was strongly loaded for attitude toward using. This research is a first step in understanding the adoption of mobile applications by Filipino consumers. We initially hypothesized that consumer behavior toward mobile applications would involve constructs of innovativeness, ease of use, and satisfaction; however, we found that ease of use was less significant in understanding repurchase intention to use mobile technologies. Personal innovativeness was more important in explaining satisfaction with mobile application attitudes and repurchase intention. The Filipino context of this study also provides other interesting implications. As the Philippines transitions into a more international market, western products start to guide market behavior, particularly consumer adoption.

차세대 모바일 메모리 기술의 정량적 비교 및 분석 (Quantitative comparison and analysis of next generation mobile memory technologies)

  • 최근 모바일 디바이스에서 수행되는 응용 프로그램이 데이터-집약적으로 변화함에 따라, 모바일 메모리에 요구되는 대역폭 및 소모되는 에너지가 증가하고 있으며 이를 개선하기 위한 여러 연구 및 기술 개발이 진행되고 있다. 그러나, 최신 모바일 메모리 기술 (LPDDR 혹은 Wide I/O) 시스템 측면 연구는 많이 이루어지지 않은 실정이다. 특히, 컴퓨터 시스템적인 측면에서 이러한 기술들의 정량적인 평가는 모바일 메모리 기술 개선에 매우 중요한 척도가 될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 모바일 디바이스에서 사용되는 모바일 DRAM (Wide I/O and LPDDR3)을 채용한 컴퓨터 시스템을 시뮬레이션하고 이를 통해 얻은 결과를 바탕으로 차세대 모바일 DRAM의 에너지 효율 및 성능에 직접적인 영향을 주는 세부적인 요소를 정량적으로 분석하고 어느 부분이 개선점이 될 수 있는지를 보여준다.

모바일과 의료서비스 간의 새로운 융합 가능성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Possible New Fusion between Mobile and Healthcare Service)

  • As many applications are possible now in mobile environment with the trend of mobile convergence, diverse applications in healthcare industry are also possible in mobile devices. Though lots of researches on mobile and health services are introduced, they are limited to specific area or techniques. This study shows possible directions of fusion between mobile technologies and health services in the future using a data mining technique called association rule analysis. The data used in this study is collected from web pages containing key words related to mobile technologies and health services. The analysis shows that current cases of fusion between monitoring based telemedicine and patients. It also shows another case of fusion between mobile hospital and medical screen charts. These show that fusion between mobile technologies and health services already began in industry. Association rules are found between well-being, city, diet, and sleep. The association rules containing security and privacy, though their associations are not so strong, also show that security and privacy of patient information should be protected in the future. The results show that the fusion of mobile technologies and health services is expected to provide health services to more users and larger areas. It is also expected to create new diverse business models in the future.

Mobile ATM: A Generic and flexible network infrastructure for 3G mobile services

  • this paper presents the concept of "mobile ATM', a proposal for third-generation (3G) mobile communication network infrastructure capable of supporting flexible evolution of radio technologies from today's cellular and data services towards future wireless multimedia services. Mobile ATM provides generic mobility management and QoS-based transport capabilities suitable for integration of multiple radio access technologies including cellular voice. wireless data, and future broadband wireless services. The architecture of a mobile ATM network is outlined in terms of the newly-defined "W-UNI" interface at the radio link and "M-UNI"and "M-UNI" interface which supports unified access for WATM and non-ATM mobile terminals through corresponding interworking functions (IWF) is explained. leading to an understanding of how different radio access technologies are supported by the same ATM-based core network infrastructure. Generic mechanisms for handoff and location management within the core mobile network are discussed. and related protocol extensions over the "W-UNI" and "M-UNI/NNI"interfaces are proposed. the issue of "crossover switch (COS)" selection in mobile ATM is considered, and a unified handoff signaling syntax which supports flexibility in COS selection is described. Typical signaling sequences for call connection and handoff using the proposed protocols are outlined. Experimental results form a proof-of-concept mobile ATM network prototype are presented in conclusion.

  • In this paper, we have developed a technology-service relationship model which describes the diffusion process of a group of services and relevant technologies, and have applied the developed model to the prediction of the number of subscribers to the next generation mobile service. The technology-service relationship model developed in this paper incorporates the developing process of relevant technologies, a supply-side factor, into the diffusion process of specific services, while many diffusion models and multi-generation diffusion models in previous researches are mainly reflect the demand-side factors. So, the proposed model could effectively applied to the telecommunication services where the developing of the relevant technologies are very essential to the service Penetration. In our application, the Proposed model provides a competitive substitution between the next generation mobile service and the traditional mobile service.

  • An IP address plays both endpoint identifier and location identifier in wire based network. However, one IP address can not provide both endpoint identifier and location identifier for mobile Internet environment such as cellular network and portable Internet. To resolve this problem, mobile IPv4 and mobile IPv6 technologies are developed. These technologies are based on the concept of separation the endpoint identifier from location identifier. This paper describes some results of the recent studies such as mobile IPv4, mobile IPv6, host identify protocol and so on. Also, we propose the criteria to decide which technologies are suitable for deployment in the practical network environment.

  • Convergence services are very important to mobile operators in next generation mobile networks. However, mobile operators cannot deal with all convergence services because there are numerous convergence services. Thus, they should select and develop main technologies to provide convergence services which are areas to grow our business. In this paper, we introduce basic technologies to provide convergence services and then present some evaluation models to select an important area and technology.

  • This paper proposes and then verifies a model that can be used to forecast the effects of behavior on mobile advertising based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Web Advertising Effect. The objective of this research is to probe the relationship between the cause and effect of the entertainment, informativeness, usefulness, capacity to accommodate smart-environment technologies, Hedonic Adaptation Model (HAM), etc. that mobile advertisements provide, as well as the attitudes toward advertisements in general. In order to accomplish this goal, the research was verified using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and the results are as follows. First, the informativeness of mobile advertising has a positive effect on the recognized ease of use. Second, the entertainment and informativeness of mobile advertising has positive effects on the recognized usefulness. Third, the recognized ease of use has a positive effect on the recognized usefulness. Fourth, the informativeness of mobile advertising causes a positive effect on smart-environment technologies. Fifth, the entertainment and informativeness of mobile advertising cause positive effects on the HAM. Sixth, smart-environment technologies cause positive effects on the HAM. Seventh, the recognized usefulness causes a positive effect on the value of mobile advertising and the intention of use. Eighth, the HAM has a positive effect on the value of mobile advertising and the general attitudes toward it. Ninth, the value of mobile advertising has a positive effect on the attitudes toward advertising. Tenth, the attitudes toward mobile advertising have a positive effect on the intention of use.

  • A lot of research for system-on-panel(SOP) have been done to integrate display systems including data driver, gate driver, timing controller, DC-DC converter, and smart functions such as embedded touch screen, ambient brightness sensing and luminance control, finger printing on the glass. Recently, the cost of an one-chip driver IC with various functions has decreased rapidly, and new mobile display interface technologies have been introduced. So it is necessary to examine the feasibility of SOP for practical mobile applications. In this paper, we will re-examine LTPS technologies for mobile displays in terms of various aspects and discuss the practical limitations on SOP technology and future technology trend of mobile displays.
