Design and Implementation of SyncML based Application Management System for Mobile Devices (이동 단말을 위한 SyncML 기반 응용 관리 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • The purpose of this paper in that users can use mobile device applications more easily and efficiently through MoDAM (Mobile Device Application Management) system. MoDAM automates the process of web retrieval for obtaining mobile device applications and the process of installing or updating it on mobile devices and then supply users with these automated services in a step form by combining two separated processes. We implement a web agent conforming to OSD (Open Software Description) specification for automating software retrieval and downloading and also a mobile device based software management module conforming to SyncML (Synchronization Markup Language) specification for synchronizing common data between server and client. The method of automated software retrieval and management for mobile devices using these standard specifications minimizes users' interrupts and also can be applied to traditional several different mobile devices, operating systems or downloading web sites without platform dependent considerations.

  • This paper discusses the interacting mobile robots for tele-operation system using the world wide web. In multi-agent and web-based teleoperation environment the problem of communication delay must be solved for the efficient and robust control of the system. The standard graphic user interface(GUI)is implemented using Java Programing language. The web browser is used to integrate the virtual environment and the standard GUI(Java applet) in a single user interface. Users can access a dedicated WWWserver and download the user interface. Reinforcement learning is applied to indirect control in order to autonomously operate without the need of human intervention.   • P2P systems have gained a lot of research interests and popularity over the years and have the capability to unleash and distribute awesome amounts of computing power, storage and bandwidths currently languishing - often underutilized - within corporate enterprises and every Internet connected home in the world. Since there is no central control over resources or devices and no before hand information about the resources or devices, device discovery remains a substantial problem in P2P environment. In this paper, we cover some of the current solutions to this problem and then propose our feed forward neural network (FFNN) based solution for device discovery in mobile P2P environment. We implements feed forward neural network (FFNN) trained with back propagation (BP) algorithm for device discovery and show, how large computation task can be distributed among such devices using agent technology. It also shows the possibility to use our architecture in home networking where devices have less storage capacity.

  • 본 논문은 사용자 단말기의 이동성을 지원하기 위한 이동 컴퓨팅 구조에 대한 내용을 다루고 있다. 이를 위하여 사용자 MS, 고정망에서 MS를 대신하는 이동 에이전트 프로세스, 핸드오프 과정에서 MS에 중단없는 서비스를 제공하기위하여 이동 에이전트 프로세스의 위치를 추적하는 추적 에이전트 프로세스에 관한 내용을 소개한다. 논문에서 소개되는 추적 에이전트 프로세스의 도입으로 유선 환경의 응용서비스들의 무선 이동 환경에서도 호환성을 가질 수 있는 장점을 갖게 된다. 핸드오프 알고리즘은 패킷 손실이나 순서의 변경과 같은 흐름제어 기능을 포함하고 있으며, 무선핸드오프에서 발생 가능한 하드 핸드오프와 소프트핸드오프를 함께 고려하였다. 시뮬레이션의 결과는 핸드오프과정에서의 추가 지연 시간에 대한 내용을 다루고 있으며 각 객체간의 거리를기준으로 분석하였다.

A Need-awaring Multi-agent Approach to Nomadic Community Computing for Ad Hoc Need Identification and Group Formation (유목커뮤니티 컴퓨팅에서 임의적 욕구파악과 그룹형성을 위한 욕구인지 다중에이전트 접근법)

  • Recently, community computing has been proposed for group formation and group decision-making. However, legacy community computing systems do not support group need identification for ad hoc group formation, which would be one of key features of ubiquitous decision support systems and services. Hence, this paper aims to provide a multi-agent based methodology to enable nomadic community computing which supports ad hoc need identification and group formation. Focusing on supporting group decision-making of relatively small sized multiple individual in a community, the methodology copes with the following three characteristics: (1) ad hoc group formation, (2) context-aware group need identification and (3) using mobile devices working in- and out-doors. NAMA-US, an RFID-based prototype system has been developed to show the feasibility of the idea proposed in this paper.

Location Trigger System for the Application of Context-Awareness based Location services

  • Recent research has been actively carried out on systems that want to optimize resource utilization by analyzing the intended behavior and pattern of behavior of objects (users, consumers). A service system that applies information about an object's location or behavior must include a location trigger processing system for tracking an object's real-time location. In this paper, we analyze design problems for the implementation of a context-awareness based location trigger system, and present system models based on analysis details. For this purpose, this paper introduces the concept of location trigger for intelligent location tracking techniques about moving situations of objects, and suggests a mobile agent system with active rules that can perform monitoring and appropriate actions based on sensing information and location context information, and uses them to design and implement the location trigger system for context-awareness based location services. The proposed system is verified by implementing location trigger processing scenarios and trigger service and action service protocols. In addition, through experiments on mobile agents with active rules, it is suggested that the proposed system can optimize the role and function of the application system by using rules appropriate to the service characteristics and that it is scalable and effective for location-based service systems. This paper is a preliminary study for the establishment of an optimization system for utilizing resources (equipment, power, manpower, etc.) through the active characteristics of systems such as real-time remote autonomous control and exception handling over consumption patterns and behavior changes of power users. The proposed system can be used in system configurations that induce optimization of resource utilization through intelligent warning and action based on location of objects, and can be effectively applied to the development of various location service systems.

  • Recommendation systems provide users with proper services using context information being input from many sensors occasionally under ubiquitous computing environment. But in case there isn't sufficient context information for service recommendation in spite of much context information, there can be problems of resulting in inexact result. In addition, in the quantification step to use context information, there are problems of classifying context information inexactly because of using an absolute classification course. In this paper, we solved the problem of lack of necessary context information for service recommendation by using dynamic profile information. We also improved the problem of absolute classification by using a relative classification of context information in quantification step. As the result of experiments, expectation preference degree was improved by 7.5% as compared with collaborative filtering methods using an absolute quantification method where context information of P2P mobile agent is used.

  • BCI (Brain Computer Interface) is technology to control external devices by measuring the brain activity, such as electroencephalogram (EEG), so that handicapped people communicate with environment physically using the technology. Among them, EEG is widely used in various fields, especially robot agent control by using several signal response characteristics, such as P300, SSVEP (Steady-State Visually Evoked Potential) and motor imagery. However, in order to control the robot agent without any constraint and precisely, it should take advantage of not only a signal response characteristic, but also combination. In this paper, we try to use the fusion of motor imagery and P300 from EEG for practical use of robot control in BCI environment. The results of experiments are confirmed that the recognition rate decreases compared with the case of using one kind of features, whereas it is able to classify each both characteristics and the practical use technology based on mobile robot and wireless BCI measurement system is implemented.

  • This paper presents the target object search algorithm under dynamic programming (DP) in the Tree-type maze. We organized an experimental environment with the concatenation Y-shape diverged way, small mobile robot, and a target object. By the principle of optimality, the backbone of DP, an agent recognizes that a given whole problem can be solved if the values of the best solution of certain ancillary problem can be determined according to the principle of optimality. In experiment, we used two different control algorithms: a left-handed method and DP. Finally we verified the efficiency of DP in the practical application using a real robot.

A Handover Mechanism in Internetworking with UMTS/WLAN based on HMIPv6 (HMIPv6 기반의 UMTS/WLAN 연동 네트워크에서의 핸드오버 방안)

  • The research in internetworking between UMTS and WLAN, which is completed with merits and demerits, Is actively progressed to establish global roaming environments. This internetworking is classified into two groups: loosely-coupled and tightly-coupled. h tightly-coupled mechanism demands lots of investment and considerable amountof time to construct, which is directly connoted between UNTS and WLAN via IWU. On the other hand, a tersely-coupled mechanism is more scalable and easier to implement than a tightly-coupled one while it has critical drawbacks of packet loss and blocking of services due to handover delay. To alleviate these drawbacks. this work proposes a handover scheme between UMTS and WLAN, which is based on HMIPv6. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by the simaulation. The proposed internetworking scheme based on HMIPv6 shows hotter performance than those based on MIPv6.
