  • This paper presents an analytical method for finding the optimum transmission range in mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs). The results are particularly useful for the operation of military networks, as the transmission range affects the throughput, delay, and battery consumption. Plus, the proposed method allows the optimum transmission range to be determined in advance when deploying combatants with mobile terminals. And we analyze the battery life-time and the optimum transmission range under various propagation scenarios based on Hata propagation model. The proposed method obtains the optimum transmission range in a MANET based on the operational conditions.

  • 최근 MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks)에서의 P2P 응용을 이용한 서비스 개발이 활발히 진행 중이다.

  • In this paper, we evalvated two main QoS supporting routing protorol on wireless ad hoc network. At Presence wireless mobile communication focuses on how to efficiently support mobility of users more than QoS guarantee. However, in order to satisfy requirement of various applications which have been or will be served, QoS support service between source and destination becoming a very important issue. Of all routing protocols, DSR and AOUV are very improtant routing protocol in MANET. So we simulated DSR and AODV QoS Routing Protocol Through simulation evaluation tool NS(Network Simulation) based on various environments.

  • A growth of mobile and wireless networking technologies have enabled mobile ad hoc networks applicable to a wide range of areas. This paper analyzes dynamics of network transport performance with respect to dynamics of network states especially for the mobile ad hoc networks called MANET. The edge cost based modeling methodology is adopted for the analysis, which can express well the characteristics of MANET. In this methodology the network state at arbitrary time can be specified as one of four edge states. We extracts ten target network scenarios for the simulation analysis by employing not only the Real Edge/Infinity Edge concept but also interworking functionality between different transport protocols. Then we could acquire from simulation of them with the DEVSim++ engine that the more sorts of transport protocols and the more number of interworking nodes are included in the network, the more contribution is for improving network transport performance.

  • In this paper, we propose the address allocation algorithm in hybrid Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). Most of proposed address autoconfiguration algorithms are node based. Node based address autoconfiguration algorithms are inefficient. Because the node based algorithms waste bandwidth and consume much battery in mobile ad-hoc networks. we present the address allocation algorithm using internet gateway based address autoconfiguration by modifing the IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration protocol. We use the network simulator NS-2 in our experiments. The simulation result shows reducing network traffic and saving battery.

  • There has been much research efforts trying to integrate mobile IP that has been proposed to guarantee the mobility of mobile nodes on MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks) and wired integrated networks. To support the mobility service of nodes in MIPMANET, this paper proposes MAAM(Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) and AMAAM protocols. In MAAM, the mobility agent of the mobile IP can maintain the information of ad hoc networks by broadcasting advertisement messages periodically. AMAAM(Aggregation based Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) is an enhancement of MAAM for reducing the number of transmission of advertisement messages by aggregating them. The proposed schemes are applied in MIPMANET for agent advertisement mechanism. For the performance evaluation of both protocols, we simulated them by NS2. We evaluate the protocols by ns2 with such performance metrics as packet delivery ratio, transmission throughput, and energy consumption.

  • A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes communicating in an infrastructure-less environment without the aid of a central administrating authority. Such networks entail greater dependency on synergy amongst the nodes to execute fundamental network operations. The scarcity of resources makes it economically logical for nodes to misbehave to preserve their resources which makes secure routing difficult to achieve. To ensure secure routing a mechanism is required to discourage misbehavior and maintain the synergy in the network. The proposed scheme employs a partially distributed dynamic model at each node for enhancing the security of the network. Supplementary information regarding misbehavior in the network is partially distributed among the nodes during route establishment which is used as a cautionary measure to ensure secure routing. The proposed scheme contemplates the real world scenario where a node may exhibit different kinds of misbehavior at different times. Thus, it provides a dynamic decision making procedure to deal with nodes exhibiting varying misbehaviors in accordance to their severity. Simulations conducted to evaluate the performance of the model demonstrate its effectiveness in dealing with misbehaving nodes.

  • A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is an autonomous, infrastructure-less system that consists of mobile nodes. In MANET, on demand routing protocols are usually used because network topology changes frequently. AODV, which is a representative on demand routing protocol, operates using the routing table of each node that includes next hop of a route for forwarding packets. It maintains the established route if there is not an expiration of route or any link break. In the paper, we propose a partially adaptive route maintenance scheme (AODV-PA) based on AODV, which provides dynamic route modification of initial route for selecting the effective route using not only next hop but also next-hop of next-hop (i.e. 2-hop next node) acquired through route discovery process. In addition, the proposed scheme additionally manages the routing table for preventing exceptional link breaks by route modification using HELLO messages. We use NS 2 for the computer simulation and validate that the proposed scheme is better than general AODV in terms of packet delivery ratio, latency, routing overhead.

  • A hybrid Ad-hoc network connected to the Internet needs an IP address configuration to communicate with the Internet. Most of proposed address autoconfiguration algorithms are node based. The node based address autoconfiguration algorithms waste bandwidth and consume much battery in mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper, we propose the address allocation algorithm in hybrid Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). The proposed algorithm reduces network traffic by transferring address configuration packet to the internet gateway by unicast method. Moreover, our IP address configuration algorithm also reduces battery consumption and address configuration time by decreasing number of configuration packets on internet gateway.

  • The Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a representative mobile sensor network. MANET is used in various areas because it consists of sensors composed of moving nodes that do not depend on existing infrastructure networks. In the mobile sensor field, the mobility characteristic plays an important role in the performance of the network. Researches on routing techniques are being actively developed in terms of energy efficiency of the entire network. Clustering-based routing protocols show excellent performance in terms of energy efficiency. In this paper, the energy performance according to routing protocols is compared in the MANET to which the same mobility model is adopted.
