  • Recently, as the use of high-performance concrete has become common, various problems related to high-performance concrete have become an issue. Among them, self-shrinkage of cement paste due to low water cement ratio is known to cause problems in the volume stability of concrete. To improve this, studies related to the mixing technology of cement-based materials and nano materials have been actively conducted. Looking at the results of prior research related to nano material mixing technology, generally, research results have been reported in which nano materials are incorporated into cement-based materials to improve material properties1). Among them, it was shown that the mechanical performance and various types of functionality of the cement composite are expressed. Among nano materials, carbon nanotubes (hereinafter referred to as CNTs) and graphenes are used in a mixture with cement-based materials. Accordingly, this study intends to compare the mechanical properties by incorporating various CNTs and graphene into cement paste.

  • Using a finite volume ocean circulation model based on an unstructured grid (FVCOM), we studied the structure of a fresh water bulge that influences on the Region Of Freshwater Influence. Fresh water discharged a river forms a coastal boundary current to the righthand side and a cyclonically circulation freshwater bulge that grows with time. In the middle of the bulge, vertical motions bring fresh water to the bottom. When tidal motions are included, the bulge disappears while the boundary currents becomes wider. Through a simple comparison of areas occupied low salinity water we quantified vertical and horizontal mixing due to the tide and showed that the tidal motion enhances the vertical mixing. During the first few tidal cycles right after the onset of the river discharge, due to tidal excursion the horizontal mixing becomes stronger. The vertical mixing by the tide mixes the fresh water After a certain time the water around the river mouth is well mixed and the horizontal excursion of the fresh water near the river mouth does not have much effect on the horizontal mixing. When there is no tidal motion horizontal mixing is mainly by the inertial instability at the surface and the horizontal mixing becomes stronger over time.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the optimum mix design and site application case of soil mixing wall (SMW) method which is cost-effective technique for construction of walls for cutoff wall and excavation support as well as for ground improvement before constructing LNG storage tank typed under-ground. Considering native soil condition in site, main materials are selected ordinary portland cement, bentonite as a binder slurry and also it is applied $1,833kg/m^3$ as an unit volume weight of native soil, Variations for soil mixing wall are as followings ; (1) water-cement ratio 4cases (2) mixing velocity (rpm) 3levels (3) bleeding capacity and ratio, compressive strength in laboratory and site application test. As test results, bleeding capacity and ratio are decreased in case of decreasing water-cement ratio and increasing mixing velocity. Required compressive strength (1.5 MPa) considering safety factors in site is satisfied with the range of water-cement ratio 150% below, and test results of core strength are higher than those of specimen strength in the range of 8~23% by actual application of element members including outside and inside in site construction work. Therefore, optimum mix design of soil mixing wall is proposed in the range of unit cement $280kg/m^3$, unit bentonite $10kg/m^3$, water-cement ratio 150% and mixing velocity 90rpm and test results of site application case are satisfied with the required properties.

  • Porous pavement (PP) has attracted attention as a new alternative measure against road traffic noise. PP refers to pavement that reduces the fines in the asphalt mixture to form voids. These voids can reduce traffic accidents and friction noise. For active application, verification of the noise reduction effect is required. In this study, the noise reduction of single-layer PP(SLPP) and double layer PP(DLPP) was analyzed. First, the Sejong section was selected, and traffic noise was measured using the SPB method on the roadside. The traffic volume, speed, and mixing ratio of large vehicles were measured. As a result, the DLPP was evaluated to be 7.95 dB(A) smaller on average and 7.57dB(A) smaller at the 95% reliability level than the SLPP. The traffic volume was more influential than the speed and the mixing rate of large vehicles. As the traffic volume increased, the noise increased, but the difference in noise between the two pavements decreased gradually. The results showed that the most effective way to reduce road traffic noise is to change the road pavement rather than reduce traffic speed, restrict traffic for heavy vehicles, or reduce traffic volume.

  • Constructed wetlands typically cost less to build and operate, and require less energy than standard mechanical treatment technology but they have similar performance to centralized wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, they were constructed especially many in rural areas, where are small villages but not industries. Plantless column tests were performed to investigate the possibility on using zeolite as a filter medium of constructed wetland for the wastewater treatment. Removal efficiency was $COD_{Cr}$ 94.63% T-P 41.41% and $NH_4^+-N$ 99.75% at hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering height 100 cm filled with a zeolite mixture. This zeolite mixture consisted of 1 : 1 by volume of zeolites in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1 mm and 1 to 3 mm. Accordingly, hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ was considered as optimal. Three zeolite mixtures were used to determine the optimal mixing ratio by volume of a zeolite (A) in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1 mm to a zeolite (B) in the diameter range of 1 to 3 mm 1 : 3, 1 : 1 and only B in A to B by volume were tested at hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering height 100 cm $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency was more than 89% at mixing ratios of 1 : 3 and 1 : 1 in A to B. That of T-P ranged 56.42 to 58.72% and, that of T-N and $NH_4^+-N$ was 87% and 99% regardless of mixing ratios of two zeolites. Removal efficiency was lower at the column filled with only B. Removal efficiency was better at Inter medium filled with mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B than with the other mixing ratios. Thus, it was found that the mixture of mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B was appropriate far Inter medium of constructed wetland Removal efficiency was higher in down-flow than in up-flow, and all contaminants were removed most in 20 cm filter height near feeding area.

  • The choice of solvents for electrolytes solutions is very important to improve the characteristics of charge/discharge in the Li-ion battery system. Such solvent systems have been widely investigated as electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. In this paper, the electrochemical properties of the solid electrolyte interphase film formed on carbon anode surface and the solvent decomposition voltage in 1 M LiPF6/EC:MA(x:y) electrolyte solutions prepared from the various mixing volume ratios are investigated by chronopotentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, and impedance spectroscopy. As a result, the solvent decomposition voltages are varied with the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte. Electrochemical properties of the passivation film were different, which are dependent on the mixture ratio of the solvents. Therefore, the most appropriate mixing ratio of EC and MA as a solvent in 1 M $LiPF_6/(EC+MA)$ system for Li-ion battery is approximately 1:3 (EC:MA, volume ratio).

  • This study focuses on the use of rice in the production of gluten-free rice udon (GFU) through an optimized mixing ratio, using the Box-Behnken response surface methodology (RSM). Different additional levels of rice flour (A, 40-60 g), acetylated distarch adipate (B, 10-20 g), and trehalose (C, 0-3 g) were used as variables, while water absorption level, volume, cooking loss, solid yield, lightness, texture properties, proximate compositions of GFU and turbidity of cooking water were set as responses in the RSM design model. The optimum mixing ratio for the preparation of gluten-free rice udon was obtained for 60.00 g of rice flour, 18.81 g of acetylated distarch adipate without the addition of trehalose. The response values of the optimized samples were water absorption (60.94%), volume (34.94%), turbidity of the cooking water (0.37), cooking loss (4.77%), solid yield (1.55 g), lightness value (70.04), hardness (2.53 N), springiness (0.18), gumminess (10.45 N), chewiness (1.83 N), and cohesiveness (2.89). This study has shown that rice flour can replace wheat flour to manufacture udon at an optimized mixing ratio successfully derived by statistical estimation method.
