  • Objectives : This study is to propose discriminative keys with stereoscope for minute seed herbs easily mixed up, but hard to discriminate by naked eyes: Alli Tuberosi Semen(ATS)✳Alli Fistulosi Semen(AFS), Malvae Semen(MS)✳ Abutili Semen(AS), Plantaginis Semen(PS)✳Schizonepetae Semen(SS).Objectives : We reviewed the description of original plants and medicinal herbs from literature. The specimen of original plant were collected, determinated and compared to samples in the market. Primary classification was performed with naked eyes. and we found out other discrimination keys for non-distinctive herbs with stereoscope. Discrimination keys were set as the morphological criteria of authentic herbs, percentage of adulteration, and standards for discriminating genuine herbs from adulteration. Results : 1) ATS is bigger, has reticulate pattern on protuberant side and unique garlic chives taste. AFS which is usually mixed up, is smaller, has 1~2 ridges and unique welsh onion taste. 2) MS is smaller, has no villus, but its length of bumps are similar. AS easily mixed up, is bigger and has white villus. Its upper side bump is longer and more sharp. 3) PS has dent at middle of the back side. It becomes very sticky when it is put or boiled in water. SS which can be mixed up has no dent and low viscosity compared to PS.Conclusions : With this result, we propose discriminative keys which can identify the original plants and processed herbal state of six herbs. Because minute medicinal herbs are hardly distinguishable by sensory test, It is essential to differentiate by using stereoscope.

  • Simple recurrence relations for calculating completion times of various storage polices (unlimited, intermediate storages(FIS), finite intermediate storages(FIS), no intermediate storage(NIS), zero wait(ZW) for serial multi-product multi-unit processes are suggested. Not only processing times but also transfer times, set-up (clean-up) times of units and set-up times of storages are considered. Optimal scheduling strategies with zero transfer times and zero set-up times had been developed as a mixed integer linear programniing(MILP) formulation for several intermediate storage policies. In this paper those with non-zero transfer times, non-zero set-up times of units and set-up times of storages are newly proposed as a mixed integer nonlinear programming(MINLP) formulation for various storage polices (UIS, NIS, FIS, and ZW). Several examples are tested to evaluate the robustness of this strategy and reasonable computation times.

  • The opportunity, provided for a direction planning mixed-use facilities for secondary schoo, is the purpose of this paper. Mixed-use facilities are an important issue in school building as it seeks to revive the facilities for local residents in school zone. The latest works of mixed-use facilities in secondary school, however, which are evaluated as well reflected the patterns of education and local community, are still deficient in that communicational elements in secondary school are inadequate. The cases of this paper, which are grown up as an educational building with mixed-use facilities opened to the local residents, are suitable to offer the design method for the future secondary school with mixed-use facilities. This paper reviews an assessment of its success in mixed-use facilities for secondary school as a public building for both of local residents and students and concludes with the establishment of design method for the future school; extraction of the factors contributing to development of mixed-use facilities in school area and proposal of design method; implementation of renewal of mixed-use facilities including educational program and spaces for the creation of identity.

  • Highly efficient white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with a mixed-host structure are developed and the device characteristics are studied. The introduction of a hole-transport-type host (N, N'-dicarbazolyl-3-3-benzen (mCP)) into an electron-transport-type host (m-bis-(triphenylsilyl)benzene (UGH3)) as a mixed-host emissive layer effectively achieves higher current density and lower driving voltage. The peak external quantum and power efficiency with the mixed-host structure improve up to 18.9% and 40.9 lm/W, respectively. Moreover, this mixed-host structure device shows over 30% enhanced performance compared with a single-host structure device at a luminance of 10,000 $cd/m^2$ without any change in the electroluminescence spectra.

  • This paper discusses about how to build up mixed-effects model for analysing ordinal response data by using cumulative logits. Random factors are assumed to be coming from the designed sampling scheme for choosing observational units. Since the observed responses of individuals are ordinal, a proportional odds model with two random effects is suggested. Estimation procedure for the unknown parameters in a suggested model is also discussed by an illustrated example.

  • This paper discusses about how to build up a mixed-effects model using cumulative logits when there are some factors are fixed and others are random. Random factors are assumed to be coming from a two-way nested design for choosing individuals or experimental units to apply treatments. Estimation procedure for the unknown parameters in a suggested model is also discussed by an illustrated example.

  • This paper deals with a mixed logit model for ordered polytomous data. There are two types of factors affecting the response varable in this paper. One is a fixed factor with finite quantitative levels and the other is a random factor coming from an experimental structure such as a randomized complete block design. It is discussed how to set up the model for analyzing ordered polytomous data and illustrated how to estimate the paramers in the given model.

  • Recently, district heating and cooling (DHC) systems based on combined cycle generation (CCG) providers are increasing in Korea. Since characteristics of combined heat and power (CHP) generators and heat demands of providers, heat trading between DHC providers based on the economic viewpoint is required; the heat trading has been doing. In this paper, a mathematical model for optimal operation based on heat trading between DHC providers is proposed. Especially, start-up characteristic of CCG is included. The operation model is established by mixed integer linear programming (MILP).

  • Despite its known limitation in the diagnostic value, the electrocardiography is one of the most common and routine examinations in the management of the patients with cardiac problems. The clinical results of 291 patients who underwent isolated mitral valve replacement from October 1978 to June 1983 were already reported. Their electrocardiograms were studied to assess the value of electrocardiographic examination in following the patients after valve replacement. The patients were divided into 5 groups beforehand according to the types of valve lesion on the bases of preoperative diagnosis and operative findings: Groups I: stenosis, I1: stenosis-dominant mixed, II1: equally mixed, IV: insufficiency-dominant mixed, and V: insufficiency. Their preoperative cardiac rhythm was sinus in 39.2% and atrial fibrillation in 59.1% of the patients. Seventy-three [42.4%] of the patients with atrial fibrillation gained sinus rhythm after operation, occurring in 67 from the day of surgery, and 42 returned to atrial fibrillation while 37 kept sinus rhythm at the follow-up end [mean follow-up period, 13.4\ulcorner1.4 months]. The P waves on the electrocardiograms of the preoperative sinus rhythm in 114 patients were normal in 5.3% and the findings of left atrial enlargement in 94.7% of the cases. They were normal in 42.1% and the findings of left atrial enlargement in 57.9% of the 140 patients with sinus rhythm at the follow-up. The preoperative major chamber enlargement was the right ventricle in Group I while it was the left ventricle in Group V, and it was in-between in Groups II-IV. The postoperative regression of the findings in ventricular enlargement was statistically significant only in Groups I and V. These results may suggest the importance of the serial electrocardiograms in following the patients with mitral valve replacement on the bases of outpatient. The electrocardiographic follow-up data were presented in patients with suspected or proved tissue valve failures.

  • The aim of this study is to find the change in trend in the eccentricities of two journal bearings supporting the crankshaft of a single cylinder engine and the degree of misalignment of the shaft. We analyze the change in oil film thickness considering the wear scar under mixed-elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication regime at potential wear regions. For this, we first calculate the central eccentricities of the two journal bearings by using the mobility method. Then we calculate the outer end eccentricity by using the geometry of the bearings. Further, the tilting angle and degree of misalignment of the shaft are calculated by using the eccentricities of the two bearings. We show that the eccentricity of bearing #1, on which higher load is applied, increases at the beginning of the start-up cycle and during the coast-down cycle. However, the eccentricity of bearing #2, on which lower load is applied, decreases at the beginning of the start-up cycle and increases during the coast-down cycle. From the results of the analysis of oil film thickness, we show that the mixed-elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication regime for a misaligned shaft is at the initial stages of the start-up cycle for both bearing #1 and #2 and at the final stage of the coast-down cycle for only bearing #1.
