  • Cognitive Radio network (CR) is a promising paradigm that helps the unlicensed user (Secondary User) to analyse the spectrum and coordinate the spectrum access to support the creation of common control channel (CCC). The cooperation of secondary users and broadcasting between them is done through transmitting messages in CCC. In case, if the control channels may get jammed and it may directly degrade the network's performance and under such scenario jammers will devastate the control channels. Hopping sequences may be one of the predominant approaches and it may be used to fight against this problem to confront jammer. The jamming attack can be alleviated using one of the game modelling approach and in this proposed scheme stochastic games has been analysed with more single users to provide the flexible control channels against intrusive attacks by mentioning the states of each player, strategies ,actions and players reward. The proposed work uses a modern player action and better strategic view on game theoretic modelling is stochastic game theory has been taken in to consideration and applied to prevent the jamming attack in CR network. The selection of decision is based on Q learning approach to mitigate the jamming nodes using the optimal MDP decision process

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate whether financial analysts' cash flow forecasts mitigate the accrual anomaly. In addition, we examine whether the more accurate analysts' cash flow forecasts are the greater the decline of the accrual anomaly. Design/methodology/approach - Data used in the empirical tests are extracted through KIS-VALUE and FN-GUIDE, and the sample consists of firms listed on Korea Stock Exchange for 7 years from 2005 to 2011. We test the hypotheses using multiple regression analysis and we also estimate the regressions with the decile ranks of the explanatory variables to minimize the influence of outliers. Findings - We have failed to capture evidence that the provision of financial analysts' cash flow forecasts itself reduces the accrual anomaly. However, we find the accrual anomaly to be less severe when financial analysts provide more accurate cash flow forecasts. The findings are consistent in the regression models with the decile ranks as well as in the robustness tests that controlled the accruals quality. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes to the expansion of related studies in the Korea by providing empirical evidence partially that the financial analysts' cash flow forecasts mitigate the accrual anomaly.

  • Web technology is evolving with the passage of time, from a single node server to high availability and then in the form of Kubernetes. In recent years, the research community have been trying to provide high availability in the form of multi master cluster with a solid election algorithm. This is helpful in increasing the resources in the form of pods inside the worker node. There are new impact of known DDoS attack, which is utilizing the resources at its peak, known as Yoyo attack. It is kind of burst attack that can utilize CPU and memory to its limit and provide legit visitors with a bad experience. In this research, we tried to mitigate the Yoyo attack by introducing a firewall at load-balancer level to prevent the attack from going to the cluster network.

  • Unsymmetrical high-rise buildings (HRBs) subjected to earthquake represent a difficult challenge to structural engineering, especially taking into consideration the effect of soil-structure interaction (SSI). L-shape in plan HRBs suffer from big straining actions when are subjected to an earthquake (in x- or y-direction, or both x- and y- directions). Additionally, the disastrous effect of seismic pounding may appear between two adjacent unsymmetrical HRBs. For two unsymmetrical L-shape in plan HRBs subjected to earthquake in three different direction cases (x, y, or both), including the SSI effect, different methods are investigated to mitigate the seismic pounding and thus protect these types of structures under the earthquake effect. The most effective technique to mitigate the seismic pounding and help in seismically protecting these adjacent HRBs is found herein to be the use of a combination of pounding tuned mass dampers (PTMDs) all over the height (at the connection points) together with tuned mass dampers (TMDs) on the top of both buildings.

  • It is considered that the construction industry is one of the pivotal players in the national economy in terms of Gross Domestic Production (GDP) and employment. Behind the positive role of this industrial sector to the national economy, the construction industry generates approximately 50 % of the total waste generation from all the industrial sectors. There are several measures to mitigate the adverse impacts of the construction waste such as reduce, reuse and recycle. Recycling would be one of the effective strategies for waste minimisation, which would be able to reduce the demand upon new resources as well as enhance reusing the construction materials on sites. The automated construction waste classification system would make it possible not only to reduce the amount of labour input but also mitigate the possibility of errors during the manual classification process. In this study, we proposed an automated waste segmentation and classification system for recycling the construction and demolition waste in the real construction site context. Since the practical application to the real-world construction sites was one of the significant factors to develop the system, a YOLACT (You Only Look At CoefficienTs) algorithm was chosen to conduct the study. In this study, it is expected that the proposed system would make it possible to enhance the productivity as well as the cost efficiency by reducing the manpower for the construction and demolition waste management at the construction site.

  • The dissolved oxygen in a coolant can affect the oxidation properties of structural materials. A desirable oxide phase formation is achieved by manipulating the oxygen level in the coolant, which can mitigate structural material degradation in nuclear power plants. Therefore, the role of dissolved oxygen in the corrosion of structural materials in aqueous environments needs to be understood. In this study, a short-term corrosion test (up to 300 h) of Ferritic/Martensitic steels (F/M steels; FeCrW model alloys), namely, Fe12Cr1W, Fe9Cr1W, and Fe9Cr, in stagnant water at 360 ℃ was performed in a pressurized autoclave with the dissolved oxygen concentration controlled to 1 ppm or a very low level (<1 ppm). The results of the corrosion tests showed that an increase in the oxygen level in the water elevated the corrosion potential, allowing the phase transition of iron oxide from magnetite (Fe3O4) to hematite (Fe2O3), whereas there was no significant correlation between the concentrations of the alloying elements Cr and W and the oxide growth rate. In addition, hematite was found to mitigate further oxide growth. Finally, a mechanism for the growth of the initial oxide layer was proposed based on the experimental results.

  • Korean Government announced 'The Roadmap to realize a low carbon green society on year 2020' on July 12, 2011 in order to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Non-energy category of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery (FAFF) should mitigate 1,349 kilo $CO_2$-equivalent ($CO_2$-eq.) tonnes which is 7.1% of Business-As-Usual on year 2020. The mitigation from animal manure treatment system (AMTS) comprises ca. 45% of the total mitigated amount of Non-energy category of FAFF. Hence, the precise evaluation of GHG emissions from AMTS is important to find effective mitigation measures. Life cycle assessment was used to evaluate GHG emissions from AMTS. The most GHG emitter was a composting/liquid fertilizer/activated sludge system (1,649.45 kg $CO_2$-eq./head/year) and the least GHG emitter was a activated liquid fertilizer system (1,024.46 kg $CO_2$-eq./head/year). Thermophilic oxic process showed the highest ratio (34.9%) of GHG emissions by the use of electricity to total GHG emissions from systems. Energy efficiency should be considered to mitigate GHG emissions from AMTS.

  • Wireless transmission system using the multipath channel is affected ISI due to the delay spread. So we use a decision feedback equalizer which consist of decision part and feedback filter for remove the ISI effectively. In this paper, we propose a improved adaptive decision feedback equalizer to mitigate ISI effectively. The proposed adaptive decision feedback equalizer is construct by using soft decision device and hierarchical feedback filter based on MMSE sub-optimal equalizer using the LMS algorithm. Soft decision device mitigate the error propagation in feedback filter by incorrectly detected decision symbol and feedback filter which is divided two step independently mitigate the ISI by using a adaptive algorithm. As a result this structure shows better performance than conventional decision feedback equalizer by mitigating the error propagation in filter cause incorrectly detecting symbol. and we get the MSE more rapidly by using larger step-size due to reduce the number of feedback filter tap. In computer simulation, we compare the bit error rate performance of proposed decision feedback equalizer with conventional one on the S-V channel model for UWB system.

  • Differential detection algorithm for DBO-CSS based on maximum signal energy detection (MSED) using viterbi algorithm is proposed. In order to mitigate SNR degradation caused by differential decoding, a modified viterbi algorithm with so called correlation metric (CM) in every state is proposed. It is shown that the performance gain of the proposed algorithm when compared with that of the conventional differential detection with the block decoding algorithm is about 2.5dB at BER = $10^{-5}$.

  • Several methods have been proposed to mitigate the market power in foreign electricity markets. In this paper, Hirfindahl-Hirschman Index(HHI) and supply margin assessment(SMA) are compared based upon the Korean future markets. The results show that SMA is better than HHI to estimate market power because it can reflect congestion and capacity reserve effectively.
