This paper proposes a guidance law for missiles with control time constraint. Because the proposed guidance law is based on a time-to-go polynomial, it has a generalized form. Also, acceleration of the proposed law converges to zero at the end of the control time, which reduces the sensitivity to the time-to-go estimation error and can increase the flight stability when the separation of the missile appears. A prediction method of the time-to-go is proposed for implementing the proposed law, and the possibility of application to the midcourse and terminal guidance phases is dealt with for exoatmospheric interception. The characteristics and performance of the proposed law are analyzed throughout various simulations.

The missile control system is comprised of various control systems such as autopilot, guidance law, and homing filter and so on. To design these guidance and control system, the optimization technique is widely applied at each developing stage. However, this kind of optimization requires lots of time and cost and moreover, this approach does not give an overall system optimization result. In this paper, to use the optimization tool for control system design, the optimal problem formulation is done and the performance index and constraints are considered. And finally the systematically optimized method is proposed.
Purpose: In this study, we propose the ESS process model which, in order to improve reliability of electronic equipment, can be referenced in both development and production phases. Methods: ESS guidelines such as MIL handbooks or private sector ESS guidelines are used for devising the proposed ESS model. Especially, proposed model is customized by using those references in order to be optimized in the domestic development and production phases. Results: ESS-related-requirements which is specified in the Technical Data Package(TDP) for the area of guided missile systems are analyzed. Current status of the requirement and screening strength are analyzed for those systems to show what kind of weak points should be improved. Conclusion: A ESS guideline which is applicable to the domestic weapon acquisition environment is proposed. As such, the necessity and detail guidelines of the proposed model are explained.

To overcome limitations of test scope, schedule and cost, M&S(Modeling & Simulation) technique has been applied for T&E(Test and Evaluation) of the state-of-art weapon systems. This paper proposes an air defense simulation software framework to reduce both redundancy an[1 programming errors in system simulator. The proposed framework consists of a 'model' and a 'middleware' The 'middleware' is a reliable communication service layer that supports not only HLA(High Level Architecture) which is an international standard in M&S but also TCP/IP, UDP and etc. The main role of 'model' is to schedule and to run the real-time distributed simulation. The proposed framework has been applied to M-SAM(Middle range Surface to Air Missile) system simulator. The proposed framework's scheduling and communication performance results are satisfactory and were measured by hardwired NTP(Network Timer Protocol) time-stamp with GPS(Global Positioning System) timer for better precision.

SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) has the ability to generate high resolution images regardless of a weather condition(e.g. visibility good or poor and day or night, etc.). SAR is considered as one of the most important powers and needs for the future since it has been utilized in a number of important military fields such as early warning, urban defense, missile guidance system, etc. Additionally there are many civilian demands and applications in aviation, traffic control, earth and space explorations, weather forecast etc. This days, the ability to acquire and analyze information is needed to cope with the urgency of global politics and international changes. In this paper, technical survey and development review for SAR systems are investigated to derive the core and immature technologies of domestic defense industry.

Defense Systems Test Center in ADD supports increasingly various missile test requirements such as higher altitude event, multi target operation and low-altitude, high velocity target tracking. In this paper, we have proposed the development of instrumentation radar tracking status simulator based on virtual reality. This simulator can predict the tracking status and risk of failure using several modeling algorithms. It consists of target model, radar model, environment model and several algorithms includes the multipath interference effects. Simulation results show that the predict tracking status and signal are similar to the test results of the live flight test. This simulator predicts and analyze all of the status and critical parameters such as the optimal site location, servo response, optimal flight trajectory, LOS(Line of Sight). This simulator provides the mission plan with a powerful M&S tool to rehearse and analyze instrumentation tracking radar measurement plan for live flight test at DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center).

The dual pulse rocket motor(DPRM) distributes the propellant energy effectively via pulse separation device(PSD) to improve the range and terminal velocity of the missile. There are two types of PSD such as bulk head type and thermal barrier type. A subscale thermal barrier type DPRM was designed, manufactured, and tested. The results showed good understanding of the characteristics of the PSD and will be applied to the design of the full scale DPRM.

The comparative evaluation/analysis of the initiation technologies currently being used, and the advanced initiation technologies currently being developed lot the aerospace and defense applications was performed. The evaluation criteria used were the compliance, performance, reliability, safety, and cost. The results clearly indicate that there is no one single initiation technology that will satisfy entire spectrum of initiation system requirements. Each initiation system architecture would require different initiation technologies that will satisfy the overall system performance requirements. However, laser initiation, particularly, the laser diode initiation has been getting more attention in recent years. The laser diode initiation, for most part, eliminates EMI and ESD concerns. In addition, laser diode initiation system can also be designed into relatively small packages, are optically connected systems by very light weight cables, are relatively easily designed to meet variety of initiation system requirements. Due to the these compelling factors, laser diode initiation has potential of becoming common initiation systems for many different aerospace and defense application.

In defense domain, mission level and engagement level simulation tools exist. In order to experiment a simulation scenario for obtaining results of both mission level and engagement level simulations, we should write a same simulation scenario in a mission level simulation tool as well as an engagement level simulation tool, and we have to operate these tools for analysis of each purpose. Moreover, we could not guarantee that these scenarios are completely same since each scenario is composed of different fidelities of simulation models, although the scenarios are written by a same experimenter and with same simulation purpose. To deal with the difficulties, I propose an approach to analysis of both mission level and engagement level simulations from one simulation result. For this, I have built Composite Combat Mission Planning Simulation Environment (CCMPSE). In this paper, the HLA/RTI based simulation composition technology and my experiences for the designed Composite Combat Mission Planning Simulation Control System (CCMPSCS) are explained. Moreover, This paper also conducts a case study with EADSIM, SADM, and the CCMPSCS. Finally, this paper provides lesson learned from the case study.

This paper deals with a ZEM (Zero-Effort-Miss) based guidance law for the interception of moving targets and characteristics of the guidance law according to time-to-go estimation methods. To derive the ZEM vector feedback guidance command, we introduce a polynomial function with unknown coefficient, and then we determine the coefficient to satisfy initial and terminal constraints. Since the directions of the guidance command and ZEM vectors are adjusted by the time-to-go, general time-to-go estimation methods are proposed, which can generate the vertical and horizontal guidance commands with respect to an arbitrary reference frame. By performing various numerical simulations, the performance and characteristics of the proposed methods are investigated.
