  • Motion estimation using Full-Search(FS) and Block-Matching Algorithm(BMA) is often used in the case of moving object tracking by vision sensors. However these methods often miss the real-time vision data because these schemes suffer the heavy computational load. When the image size of moving object is changed in an image frame according to the distance between the camera of mobile robot and the moving object, the tracking performance of a moving object may decline with these methods because of the shortage of active handling. In this paper, the variable-representative block that can reduce a lot of data computations, is defined and optimized by changing the size of representative block accor...

  • This paper describes the application of the recently developed feedback linearization technique to designing a new Command to Line-of-Sight (CLOS) guidance law. We show that the CLOS guidance problem can be formulated as a tracking problem. Then, using the feedback input-output linearization technique, we find a new 3dimensional CLOS guidance law that can assure zero miss distance for a randomly maneuvering target. It sheds light on the feedforward acceleration compensation terms used in the conventional CLOS guidance laws to improve the performance. To illustrate further the significance of our result, simulation results are given.

  • In CLOS guidance, feedback compensation of the Coriolis acceleration is used to reduce miss distance. This paper presents the effects of the bandwidth of target and missile on the optimal Coriolis acceleration compensation. A state space formulation of CLOS guidance is used to implement CLOS guidance in feedback form. And the LQR control method is applied to find the optimal feedback gain. From the analysis of the Riccati equations of the optimal control, the following facts are observed: When the target is agile, the optimal gain is reduced, since the compensation becomes ineffective. The missile bandwidth also affects the Coriolis accleration compensation. Narrower missile requires more compensation for the Coriolis acceleration.

  • This paper describes the application of the recently developed feedback linearization technique to the design of a new command to line-of-sight (CLOS) guidance law for skid-to-turn (STT) missiles. The key idea lies in converting the three dimensional CLOS guidance problem to the tracking problem of a time-varying nonlinear system. Then, using a feeedback linearizing approach to tracking in nonlinear systems, we design a three dimensional CLOS guidance law that can ensure zero miss distance for a randomly maneuvering target. Our result may shed new light on the role of the feedforward acceleration terms used in the earlier CLOS guidance laws. Furthermore, we show that the new CLOS guidance law can be computationally simplified without performance degradation. This is made possible by dropping out the terms in the new CLOS guidance law, which obey the well-known matching condition.

  • A new guidance synthesis for anti-ship missiles to control impact angle and impact time is proposed in this paper. The flight vehicle is assumed as a 1st order lag system to consider more practical system. The proposed guidance synthesis enhances the survivability of anti-ship missiles because multiple anti-ship missiles with the proposed synthesis can hit the target simultaneously. The control input to satisfy constraints of zero miss distance and impact angle, and the feedforward bias control input to control impact time constitute the guidance law. The former is from trajectory shaping guidance, the latter is from neural network. And particle swarm optimization method is introduced to furnish reference input and output for learning in neural network. The performance of the proposed synthesis in the accuracy of impact time and angle is validated by numerical examples.

  • Due to a recently developed approach to autopilot controller design for highly-maneuvering BTT (bank-to-turn) missiles, we now can derive explicitly the final-phase optimal guidance (OG) law considering the autopilot dynamics through direct use of the well-known linear optimal control theory. The proposed OG law can decrease the miss distance (MD) remarkably with small acceleration and roll rate profile at the time of interception.

  • Instantaneous frequency of doppler signals is used to get the information of the relative velocity and the miss distance between a missile and a corresponding target. In this paper, we have performed time-frequency analysis and instantaneous frequency estimation with Short Time Fourier Transform(STFT), Wigner Ville Distribution(WVD) and Continuous Wavelet Transform(CWT) about the doppler signals generated by moving targets. Performance evaluation was performed using simulated doppler signals generated by a single moving target and two moving targets. From the results of the time-frequency analysis, we found that WVD method was the most efficient instantaneous frequency estimator among the three methods. But in case of two moving targets, WVD method got cross talks and CWT method got oscillation when two doppler frequencies were close to each other.

  • In this study, the thrust generation by simultaneous flapping airfoils in tandem configuration is parametrically studied with respect to flapping frequency, amplitude and relative location. Navier-Stokes solver with overset grid topology is employed to calculate the unsteady flowfields. The computation results indicate that when the two airfoils stroke in-phase - flapping phase lag is zero - the maximum propulsive efficiency and thrust can be obtained for most frequency and amplitude range. At a flapping amplitude of 0.2 chord and a reduced frequency of 0.75, the propulsive efficiency of aft airfoil is enhanced by about 37 % compared with that of forward airfoil. However, if flapping frequency exceeds some critical value, the strength of the leading edge vortex of aft airfoil is fortified by the trailing edge vortex of the forward airfoil, resulting in poor propulsive efficiency. It is also found that out-of-phase flapping has relatively low propulsive efficiency and thrust since vortical wake of the forward airfoil interacts with the leading edge vortex of aft airfoil in the unfavorable fashion. The total thrust and propulsive efficiency are shown to decrease with the horizontal miss distance of the aft airfoil. On the contrary, the vertical miss distance has little effect on the overall aerodynamic performance.

  • The purpose of this research is to understand the change of runoff characteristics by estimated spatial rainfall. Therefore, this paper largely composed of two parts. First, we compared the simulated result according to estimation method, ID(Inverse Distance Method, ID2(Inverse Square Distance Method), and Kr(General Covariance Kriging Method), after letting miss rainfall data to the observed data. Second, we reviewed the runoff characteristics of the distributed runoff model according to the estimated spatial rainfall. On the basis of Yuseong water level station, we select the target basin as Gabchun watershed. We assumed 1 point or 2 point of the 6 rainfall gauge stations in watershed were missed. We applied the spatial rainfall distributed by Kr to Hy-GIS GRM, distributed runoff model. When 1 point rainfall data is missed, Kr is superior to others in point rainfall estimation and runoff estimation of Hy-GIS GRM. However, in case rainfall data of 2 points is missed, all of three methods did not give suitable result for them. In conclusion, Kr showed better applicability than other estimated methods if rainfall's data less than 2 points is missed.

  • Unfolding is an efficient technique to detect colorectal disease since it represents entire shape of colon at a glance. However, the previous unfolding methods may miss the surface located behind the folds or high curvature areas. To solve the problem, we propose an adaptive unfolding method that controls the number of rays in accordance with the surface complexity. In the first step, we find sample points of longer and shorter distance between the sample points and the colon surface, and then determine them as based control points. Next, for reaching rays of sample points in the wrinkled colon surface, sample points are shifted toward the control points that have the long distance. Lastly, we perform a 2D scaling which solves local distortions of the unfolding surface and avoids missing surface. Consequently, our method could be visualized the hidden surface of colon organ in detail.
