A 100*100.mu.m$^{2}$ aluminum micro mirror is designed and fabricated using a thick photoresist as a sacrificial layer andas a mold for nickel electroplating. The micro mirror is composed of aluminum mirror plate, two nickel support posts, two aluminum hinges, two address eletrodes, and two landing electrodes. The aluminum mirror plate, which is supported by two nickel support posts, is overhung about 10.mu.m from the silicon substrate. THe aluminum mirror plate is actuated like a seesaw by electrostatic force generated by electic potential difference applied between the mirror plate and the address electrode. This paper presents some methods to measure the optical and the dynamic characteristics of the fabricated micro mirror.

The support structure of an optical mirror system is the one of the important design elements because the one affects the optical aberrations of the mirror surface. In this paper, Lagrange equation of the moving body of the fast steering mirror system(FSM) has been formulated to use with optimization design. Major goals for optimization are to assign the reasonably flexible stiffness to the structure and to enhance the first natural frequency of the mirror and support system in aid of more affordable control bandwidth for the FSM. Pursuing these purposes with the proposed method, the finite element analysis(FEA), optimization technique and the Zernike polynomial estimation are used for the design effects. It is concluded that the proposed approach for design well guides toward the desired design goals with regards to both structural and optical performances.
Monocrystalline silicon has excellent properties, but it is difficult to design and manufacture silicon-based mirrors that can meet engineering applications because of its hard and brittle properties. This paper used monocrystalline silicon as the main mirror material in an imaging system to carry out a feasibility study. The lightweight design of the mirror is completed by the method of center support and edge cutting. The support structure of the mirror was designed to meet the conditions of wide temperature applications. Isight software was used to optimize the feasibility sample, and the optimized results are that the root mean square error of the mirror surface is 3.6 nm, the rigid body displacement of the mirror is 2.1 ㎛, and the angular displacement is 2.5" under the conditions of a temperature of ∆20 ℃ and a gravity load of 1 g. The optimized result show that the silicon-based mirror developed in this paper can meet the requirements of engineering applications. This research on silicon-based mirrors can provide guidance for the application of other silicon-based mirrors.
This study was conducted to determine the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) integrated mirror therapy on the gait of post-stroke patients. Thirty patients who were six months post-stroke were assigned to either the experimental group (n = 15) or the control group (n = 15). Stroke patients in the experimental group underwent rTMS and mirror therapy for the lower limbs, while those in the control group underwent rTMS and sham therapy. Participants in both groups received therapy five days per week for four weeks. A significant difference in post-training gains for the single support phase, step length, stride length and velocity was observed between the experimental group and the control group (p < 0.05). The experimental group showed a significant increment in the single support phase, step length, stride length, swing phase, velocity, cadence, double support phase and step width as compared to pre-intervention (p < 0.05). The control group showed a significant increment in step length, velocity, cadence and step width compared to preintervention (p < 0.05). Further investigation of the availability and feasibility of rTMS integrated mirror therapy for post-stroke patients as a therapeutic approach for gait rehabilitation is warranted.

We have designed a 30 cm cryogenic space infrared telescope for astronomical observation. The telescope is designed to observe in the wavelength range of 0.5~2.1 ${\mu}m$, when it is cooled down to 77 K. The result of the preliminary design of the support structure and support method of the mirror of a 30 cm cryogenic space infrared telescope is shown in this paper. As a Cassegrain prescription, the optical system of a 30 cm cryogenic space infrared telescope has a focal ratio of f/3.1 with a 300 mm primary mirror (M-1) and 113 mm secondary mirror (M-2). The material of the whole structure including mirrors is aluminum alloy (Al6061-T6). Flexures that can withstand random vibration were designed, and it was validated through opto-mechanical analysis that both primary and secondary mirrors, which are assembled in the support structure, meet the requirement of root mean square wavefront error < ${\lambda}/8$ for all gravity direction. Additionally, when the M-1 and flexures are assembled by bolts, the effect of thermal stress occurring from a stainless steel bolt when cooled and bolt torque on the M-1 was analyzed.
Background: The purpose of this study was investigated of effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with mirror therapy on static balance, weight support and ankle movement incline with chronic stroke patients. Design: Two-group pretest-posttest design. Methods: Thirty chronic stroke patients participated in this study. The study design is a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 30 people participated in the study, and 15 people were each assigned to the experimental group and control group. Experimental group received neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with mirror therapy 30 minutes, and conventional physical therapy 30 minutes. Control group received conventional physical therapy 30 minutes. Both groups were conducted 5 times a week for 4 weeks. static balance and weight support was measured by force plate and ankle movement incline was measured by goniometer. Results: As a result of comparing the static balance, weight support and ankle movement incline change between experimental group and control group, statistically significant differences were found in all variables (p<.05). In the evaluation before and after the intervention, there was a statistically significant difference in all variables in the experimental group (p<.05), but there was no statistically significant difference in the control group (p>.05). Conclusion: Neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with mirror therapy intervention improves static balance, increase paretic side weight support and ankle movement incline in chronic stroke patients. It could be an effective intervention for improve static balance, weight support and ankle movement for chronic stroke patients.

This meta-analysis systematically reviewed studies on mirror therapy focused on arm and hand function in stroke patients, aiming to comprehensively assess the efficacy of mirror therapy interventions and furnish empirical support for its potential application and future development in the context of stroke rehabilitation. A rigorous search for articles published in international journals up to the year 2022 was conducted. Various assessment tools were employed to calculate effect sizes, evaluating the impact of mirror therapy on arm and hand function in stroke patients. Utilizing a random-effects model, mean effect sizes were determined, yielding a total effect size of 0.545. The effect sizes for the Brunnstrom Recovery Stage (BRS), Box and Block Test (BBT), Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), and grip strength test were 0.957, 0.596, 0.490, 0.488, and 0.417, respectively. In summary, we suggest that mirror therapy engenders positive changes in functional recovery among stroke patients, establishing a foundation for its tailored clinical application based on individual subject characteristics.

PURPOSE: The present study aims to determine the effect of lower extremity muscle strength exercise at the non-paralyzed side of patients of stroke using a mirror on gait and balance. METHODS: Subjects were assigned randomly to a group of lower extremity exercise without using a mirror (n=10), a group of lower extremity motion exercise using a mirror (n=10), and a group of lower extremity muscle strength exercise using a mirror (n=10). The exercise is added to a physiotherapy program conducted at the hospital and subjects conducted their designed lower extremity exercises 30 times a day (5 sets), five days per week for four weeks. RESULTS: The study result showed that BBS(Berg balance scale)(p<.05) and TUG(timed up and go test)(p<.05) had a significant difference. In the comparison on gait ability, stride length, step length, step width and single support was a significant difference within two groups using a mirror before and after the intervention(p<.05). CONCLUSION: Conclusively, low extremity motion exercise using a mirror and low extremity muscle strength exercise using a mirror conducted along with general physiotherapy exercises had a positive effect on functions of lower extremity in patients with stroke and the recovery of paralyzed side thereby incurring a significant difference in balance and gait abilities.

These days, the size of a reflective telescope has been increasing for astronomical observation. An additional optical system usually assists a large ground telescope for image analysis or the compensation of air turbulence. To guide collimated light to the external optical system through a designated path, a coudé mirror is usually adopted. Including a collimator, a coudé mirror of a ground telescope is affected by gravity, depending on the telescope's pointing direction. The mirror surface is deformed by the weight of the mirror itself and its mount, which deteriorates the optical performance. In this research, we propose an optimization method for the coudé mirror assembly for a 1-m class ground telescope that minimizes the gravitational surface error (SFE). Here the mirror support positions and the sizes of the mount structure are optimized using finite element analysis and the response surface optimization method in both the horizontal and vertical directions, considering the telescope's altitude angle. Throughout the whole design process, the coefficients of the Zernike polynomials are calculated and their amplitude changes are monitored to determine the optimal design parameters. At the same time, the design budgets for the thermal SFE and the mass and size of the mount are reflected in the study.

For ground-based telescope application, the performance assessment of tip-tilt actuator is important because the optical quality of telescope depends upon the windshake compensation ability of the fast steering secondary mirror. But it is difficult to measure the performance characteristics of the actuators due to the large size mirror and test facilities including the vacuum support and structural frame. In this paper, the full-scale tip-tilt test bed for the large size secondary mirror with diameter of 1m is built and the several tests are performed including the range, resolution and frequency response function. From the measurement results, it is shown that the tip-tilt actuator can successfully compensate the windshake with frequency of maximum 12 Hz and be a candidate for the Giant Magellan Telescope.
