This paper reported the experimental result of dielectric properties of Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) combined with 0-50% of Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Soybean Oil (RBDSO). The dielectric strength and relative permittivity of RBDPO/RBDSO was higher compared to mineral oil at all ranges of ratios and temperatures which indicated a positive sign for its possible use as insulating liquid in a transformer. All ratios of the RBDPO/RBDSO mixture also demonstrated lower dissipation factor compared to mineral oil at 40℃, 70℃ and 90℃. Apart from that, the kinematic viscosity for the oil mixtures shown exceeded the IEC 60296 as well as the mineral oil results. 70%RBDPO/30%RBDSO mixture ratio was chosen as the best mixing percentage after comparison was made with the mineral oil and IEC 60296 standard where the mixture accumulated the most satisfactory of dielectric properties hence making it as the potential candidate for palm and soybean-based transformer oil.

In this study, performance of 2 pure hydrocarbons and 7 mixtures was measured in an attempt to substitute HCFC22 used in air-conditioners and heat pumps. The mixtures were composed of R1270 (propylene), R290 (propane), HFC152a, and RE170 (Dimethyl ether, DME). The pure and mixed refrigerants tested have GWPs of $3{\sim}58$ as compared to that of $CO_2$ and the mixtures are all near-azeotropic showing the gliding temperature difference (GTD) of less than $0.6^{\circ}C$. Thermodynamic cycle analysis was carried out to determine the optimum compositions and actual tests were performed in a laboratory heat pump test bench at the evaporation and condensation temperatures of 7.5 and $45.1^{\circ}C$ respectively. Test results show that the coefficient of performance (COP) of these mixtures is up to 5.7% higher than that of HCFC22. While propane showed 11.5% reduction in capacity, most of the fluids tested had the similar capacity to that of HCFC22. Compressor discharge temperatures were reduced by $11{\sim}17^{\circ}C$ with these fluids. There was no problem with mineral oil since the mixtures were mainly composed of hydrocarbons. The amount of charge was reduced up to 55% as compared to HCFC22. Overall, these fluids provide good performance with reasonable energy savings without any environmental problem and thus can be used as long term alternatives for. residential air-conditioning and heat pumping application.

This study was conducted to evaluate the trace elemental nutritive values of soil and forages collected from southwestern part of the province of Punjab, Pakistan. Soil and forage samples were collected fortnightly for two seasons. The concentrations of some trace minerals varied greatly among seasons and sampling periods. Seasonal effects were found in all soil micro-minerals except zinc, while forage iron, zinc, and selenium were affected by seasonal changes. Sampling periods effects were observed in all soil minerals and in forage copper, iron, zinc, and manganese only. All soil mineral levels except cobalt and selenium were sufficiently high to meet the requirements of plants for normal growth during both seasons. In contrast, soil Co and Se levels were severely deficient during both seasons and considered inadequate for plant growth. Soil Fe, Zn, Co, and Se levels were higher, and Cu and Mn lower during winter than those during summer. Forage Zn levels during summer were at marginal deficient levels, and in contrast, all other forage micro-minerals were within the required range for ruminants during both seasons. Although forage mico-minerals were within the range required by the ruminants, they were not sufficiently high to prevent the predisposition to various diseases caused by nutrient deficiency. Consequently, grazing animals at this location need continued mineral supplementation of these elements with a mixtures of high bio-availability rather than of high micro-mineral contents to support optimum ruminant productivity.

The present work aims at investigating the effects of using various fine mineral additions as partial replacement to Portland cement on the tribological properties of concrete. To achieve this goal, concrete mixtures were prepared with different percentages (10, 20 and 30%) of limestone fillers (LF) and natural pozzolana (NP), and (20, 40 and 60%) of blast furnace slag (BFS). The interface yield stress (τ0) and viscous constants (η) that allow characterizing friction at the concrete-pipe wall interface were determined using a rotational tribometer. In addition, the compositions of the boundary layers that formed in the pumping pipes of the different concretes under study were also identified and analyzed. The experimental results obtained showed that the concretes studied have a linear tribological behavior that can be described by the Bingham model. Furthermore, the use of different mineral additions, especially limestone fillers and blast furnace slags, even at high rates, had a beneficial effect on the optimization of the volume of paste present in the boundary layer, which made it possible to significantly reduce the viscous constant of concrete. However, a maximum rate of 10% of natural pozzolana was recommended to achieve tribological properties that are favorable to the pumpability of concrete.
This paper investigated the influence of binary and ternary blends of mineral admixtures in self-compacted mortar (SCM) on the fresh, mechanical and durability properties. For this purpose, 25 mortar mixtures were prepared having a total binder content of $640kg/cm^3$ and water/binder ratio between 0.41 and 0.50. All the mixtures consisted of Portland cement (PC), fly ash (FA) and silica fume (SF) as binary and ternary blends and air-entrained admixture wasn't used while control mixture contained only PC. The compressive and tensile strength tests were conducted for 28 and 91 days as well as slump-flow and V-funnel time tests whilst freeze-thaw (F-T) resistance and capillary water absorption tests were made for 91-day. Finally, in general, the use of SF with FA as ternary blends improved the tensile strength of mortars at 28- and 91-day while the use of SF15 with FA increased the compressive strength of the mortars compared to binary blends of FA. SCM mixtures with ternary blends had lower the sorptivity values than that of the mortars with binary blends of FA and the control mixture due to the beneficial properties of SF while the use of FA with SF as ternary blends induced the F-T resistance enhancement.
To clarify influences of silicious raw materials on mineralogcal and petrological properties in clinkering process clay, shale, quartzite, sand and coal ash have been used as silicious raw materials. The tests on thermal properties, reactivity and burnability of raw mixtures which have different silicious raw materials respectively have been made by means of X-ray diffractometry, differential thermal analysis, optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Limestone contains coarse crystalline grains which show 0.1-1.0mm and its decarbonation temperature is 86$0^{\circ}C$. Reaction temperatures among raw mixtures have been determined by X-ray diffractometry and their results are as follows; clay minerals under 1, 00$0^{\circ}C$, mica group, 100$0^{\circ}C$-110$0^{\circ}C$, feldspar group, 1, 10$0^{\circ}C$-1, 20$0^{\circ}C$ and quartz 1, 20$0^{\circ}C$-1, 30$0^{\circ}C$. Burnabilities of raw mixtures of different temperatures have been found that they mainly depend upon their mineral contents in silicious raw materials and their order is as follows; $clay\geq shale\gg quartzite \geq sand$.

This field experiment was undertaken to find out the effect of grazing and cutting management on the forage quality and soil hardness at different legumes sown swards of the experimental field of Livestock Experiment Station in Suweon, from August 1985 to October 1988. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Crude protein, crude fat and ash contents under grazing were higher than these under cutting, but showed the reverse results in crude fiber and nitrogen free extracts contents. Average in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) under grazing (72 %) was a little higher than that under cutting (71 %). On the other hand, there was little difference among the mixtures swards in mineral contents and IVDMD. 2. The contents of Ca, P and Mg were a little high in the cutting, but K and Na contents were in gazing. Ca: P ratio in grazing (2.97) was slightly higher than that of cutting (2.94). 3. Production of energies(TDN, StE and NEL) with cutting were appeard to increase by 19.4 %, 13.5 %and 19.0 % than those of grazing, respectively. Mixtures swards including alfalfa showed more production both grazing and cutting. 4. Soil hardness in the top lOcm of soil by cattle grazing was changed from 15.5mm at startihg year to 22.6 mm after 3 years, but in cutting slightly increase from 15.5mm to 16.2mm. Generally it was low in early spring and high in autumn.
Studies were conducted to determine the effect of undersoil heating on growth and quality of turfgrasses including Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.‘Nuglade’), perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.‘Accent’), tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.‘Pixie’), and Korean lawngrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.) in simulated athletic field during winter season in Korea. Mineral contents in clippings of turfgrasses grown at different soil mixtures and temperatures were also analyzed. Undersoil heating (approximately 20$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$) was effective in protecting turfgrasses except Korean lawngrass from freezing injury and discoloration of shoots due to extremely cold temperatures during midwinter. Among turfgrasses grown at undersoil heating zone, tall fescue and perennial ryegrass showed the highest clipping weights and chlorophyll contents, respectively. However, anthocyanin contents of shoots were higher in Kentucky bluegrass. There was little or no difference in clipping weights, chlorophyll contents, anthocyanin contents and greenness of shoots between turfgrasses grown at two soil mixtures composed of 80% sand+10% peat moss+10% soil (v/v/v) and 80% sand+20% pea moss (v/v). Contents of mineral K, Ca and Mg in clippings of cool-season turfgrasses were comparatively higher in a soil mixture composed of 80% sand+10% peat moss+10% soil, but little difference in contents of N and P was observed between two soil treatments. Results indicated that undersoil heating can improve quality of turf surface by thawing soil, melting snow, and maintaining shoot growth and greenness of turfgrasses in sports field during winter season.
PURPOSES : The new waste management policy of South Korea encourages the recycling of waste materials. One material being recycled currently is tire-derived fuel (TDF) ash. TDF is composed of shredded scrap tires and is used as fuel in power plants and industrials plants, resulting in TDF ash, which has a chemical composition similar to that of the fly ash produced from coal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the properties of an asphalt concrete mix that used TDF ash as the mineral filler. METHODS : The properties of the asphalt concrete were evaluated for different mineral filler types and contents using various measurement techniques. The fundamental physical properties of the asphalt concrete specimens such as their gradation and antistripping characteristics were measured in accordance with the KS F 3501 standard. The Marshall stability test was performed to measure the maximum load that could be supported by the specimens. The wheel tracking test was used to evaluate the rutting resistance. To investigate the moisture susceptibility of the specimens, dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio (TSR) measurements were performed. RESULTS : The test results showed that the asphalt concrete containing TDF ash satisfied all the criteria listed in the Guide for Production and Construction of Asphalt Mixtures (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, South Korea). In addition, TDF ash exhibited better performance than that of portland cement. The Marshall stability of the asphalt concrete with TDF ash was higher than 7500 N. Further, its dynamic stability was also higher than that listed in the guide. The results of the dynamic water immersion and the TSR showed that TDF ash shows better moisture resistance than does portland cement. CONCLUSIONS : TDF ash can be effectively recycled by being used as a mineral filler in asphalt, as it exhibits desirable physical properties. The optimal TDF ash content in asphalt concrete based on this study was determined to be 5%. In future works, the research team will compare the characteristics of asphalt concrete as function of the mineral filler types.

The purpose of this study is to improve the durability performance of polymer modified cement composites for repair of concrete under combined aging conditions. The experimental procedure was divided into three parts. First, the replacement level of mineral admixtures in polymer modified cement composites were determined in an experimental study based on a Box Behnken design. Second, the flow value, compressive strength and chloride permeability test of sixteen types of mixtures were conducted. Test results show that the polymer modified cement composites were effected on the improvement of the compressive strength and permeability performance. Third, the effects on the replacement level of silica fume mixture was evaluated by the compressive strength, chloride permeability, chemical resistance and repeated freezing and thawing cycles test. They demonstrated that the polymer modified cement composites using mixture of silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag improved the durability performance.
