  • Although the demand on 'Ki' training because of the increased interest in health, there has not been an established theory and system in 'Ki' training from the perspective of oriental medicine. Therefore, many training associations are in operation without sound basis. The general use of the terminology 'Kigong' is the influence of China. As it was distributed to the general public through the translation and introduction of Chinese Kigong theory, the genuine Korean YangsaengKigong was not emphasized but it was included in or considered as the second-class to the Chinese Kigong. The purpose of the study was to establish and review YangsaengKigong based on our traditional ideologies. Korean Yangsaengkigong can be defined as the training method nurturing mind, energy, body based on the Sambeob training method such as Pause of thinking, Modulation of breath and Prohibition of sensibility with the goal of Yangsaengkigong, good health and long life and the maximum service for the benefit of humanity. Although this study can identify the differecnes between Korean Yangseangkigong and Chinese kigong through Korean traditional ideology, we could not develop this study to the necessity of ideological background of medical Kigong and concrete methodology of Yangsaengkigong and our traditional ideology because of scarce literature on Korea and Korean traditional ideologies. For the purspose of the study, we need cooperation between Studies of Korea, Studies of National History, and Oriental Medicine.

  • Brainwave can be the most effective means of detecting the state of the brain that changes moment by moment. Since brain has closed relations with hormones which are a foundation of metabolism, it needs to examine closely the mutual relationship between brainwave and hormone. We examined the possibility to find out such information about metabolism by comparing brainwave with cortisol hormone. The major variables are anti-stress quotient of brainwave and cortisol density which give stress information of the working women, to measure from March 3 to May 28, 2007. To find out the relationship between them, we performed such statistical analysis about the before and after of brainwave training as t-test, correlational analysis and regression analysis. We obtained following results: First, considerable changes of variables is shown by brain-wave training. Second, there exist a correlation between variables. Third, according to regression analysis, influence between variables is verified. Thus, we found that stress information of hormone analytical level can be obtined only through brainwave analysis.

  • Alberti's De re aedificatoria is the earliest case in the history of Italian Renaissance architectural treatises dealing with recovery of antiquity through textual and archaeological pursuits. The key source of the Renaissance theoreticians was Vitruvius' De architectura. However, Alberti was keenly aware of inaccuracy and Hellenization of Latinity in this classical text, and tried to compensate them in his own treatise. Furthermore he claimed a reformed discipline of the architects as well as the patrons, and prescribed how future buildings and cities should be built, based on the proper authority of ancient architecture in proper and intelligible Latin. Such an adaptation of classical usage in order to reestablish a modern norm preceded in his earlier work Momus, a satire on the contemporary Italian society of his own by following the model of Lucian. Alberti's suggestion of proper government in Momus's phrase was expanded in De re aedificatoria, for he consider the buildings are subject to the rules of morality and public interests. He proclaimed that the nature of beauty is the reasoned harmony of every part within a body, and architectural beauty also lies on the harmonized arrangement of all the elements within an individual building and of all individual buildings and facilities within a city. For the architects to execute this task, he formulated the concept of lineanenta, the form derived from the mind in order to prescribe the proper place, numbers, scale, and orders for whole building structure. It is the future oriented city-plans and building designs to serve the public interest and the good of all the individual citizens who make up the City-State that Alberti pursued in his treatise.

As a result, the 4 themes such as 'reflection on the life of consumption', 'practices', 'changes', 'recognized meanings of the class' were extracted. Firstly, some students were reflective on their acts of consumption in everyday life. They have consumed in an undisciplined, unthoughtful manner and have experienced various negative emotions in their consumption, and have the motive of change. Secondly, the study showed the consumption of clothes, eating, house, leisure, body, digital, wedding is variously included in their practices of consumption. In the category of common practices, 'sharing consumption giving a bigger happiness', 'sustainable consumption caring about the earth and the next generation', 'smart consumption through discipline', 'responsible consumption considering community and producer', 'field trips and consumption of experience as learning' are included, and 'meaningful feeling of happiness through practices' are extracted. Thirdly, they have experienced positive changes such as reduction in consumption desire and increased concern with mind, relationship and conscious consumption. Fourthly, students think of the class as a necessary, useful, practical subject, and have a precious opportunity to learn many aspects they don't think about before, and don't practice, and say that they persistently continue to practice. Therefore, to promote the happiness as a consumer and consumer citizen leader in the society, it's necessary to offer a related class in more universities.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to develop a program of group psychotherapy named "the promotion of hope program (PHP)" that will provide effective emotional support for cancer patients. Methods: In order to develop a group counseling program for cancer patients, this study utilized reality therapy based on Oriental medicine theory which is the mind affect the body. We established four steps for making positive changes to individual behavior: creating soil for hope, watering hope, sprouting hope, and the blossoming flower of hope. To verify the effectiveness of the program, we conducted a comparative clinical trial. Patients were divided into two groups by unrestricted randomization: the intervention group (n=20) and the control group (n=17). The members of each group did not exceed seven patients. We divided the trial period into three sections. The intervention group received group psychotherapy twice a week for 4 weeks. The control group watched hope-related videos and talked about members for two hours each week for four weeks. We evaluated the scale of anxiety and depression, self-esteem, and hope, both before and after the examination. Results: PHP decreased the level of anxiety and depression in the intervention group (1.21 vs. 0.75, p<0.01). PHP also improved the level of both self esteem (2.80 vs. 3.34, p<0.01) and hope (2.69 vs. 3.23, p<0.01). In contrast, the control group showed no interval change at any point in time. Conclusion: Following the above results, PHP can be seen as an effective program for helping cancer patients to increase positive emotions and behaviors while reducing negative thoughts.
