Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare laryngoscopic views and ease of use and success of intubation, via the percentage of glottic opening (POGO) scale when using the Miller blade and Macintosh blade in paraglossal approach. Methods: Forty intern doctors were randomized for laryngoscopy to be performed in a crossover manner. They performed endotracheal intubation with Miller blade and Macintosh blade in two airway scenarios: normal airway and difficult airway with edema. We observed the rate of successful intubation, time required for visualizing the glottis, time to complete endotracheal intubation, ease of intubation, and the POGO scale. Results: In the normal airway, there was no difference in intubation between the two endoscopes. In the difficult airway, the time for visualizing the glottis (7.80 versus 10.24 sec; p=.006), the time to tube passage (19.38 versus 23.03 sec; p=.038) and the time to complete endotracheal intubation (21.84 versus 28.54 sec; p=.022) with Miller blade was shorter than with Macintosh blade. The POGO scale(%) of the Miller blade was higher than that of the Macintosh blade's (62.25 versus 56.32; p=.030). Conclusion: Compared to the Macintosh blade, Miller blade provided better visualization of the glottis and POGO scale, and faster time to completion of endotracheal intubation.

Objectives : This study is designed investigate the effect of oriental medial therapy on a 63 year old female patient had Miller Fisher Syndrome with sleeplessness. Methods : We experienced a case of Miller Fisher Syndrome and treated with herbal medicine, eletro-acupuncture. The effects of treatment were measured by sleeping hour, taken measurements with a ruler(eyeball movement). Results : Whole condition (ophthalmoplegia, ataxia and so on) was improved and Oriental treatment had a good effect on sleeping hour. Conclusions : Oriental medical treatments were very effective for the patient had Miller Fisher Syndrome with sleeplessness.

건조 구기자의 휘발성 성분을 분석하기 위하여 SDE 방법으로 정유성분을 추출한 다음 GC 및 GC-MS로 성분을 확인하였다. 확인된 성분은 54종으로써 알코올류 12종, 에스테르류 12종, 알데히드류 7종, 산류 6종, 탄화수소류 5종, 케톤류 8종, 푸란류 1종 및 피라진류 3종이었다. 그 중 에스테르류의 상대적 면적비가 가장 높았다. 건조 구기자의 주요 휘발성 성분은 hexadecanoic acid의 에틸에스테르, 1-octadecanone, tetrapyrazine, 2-furancarboxaldehyde, ethyl linoleate 등으로 구성되어 있었다.

Miller cycle was studied and analyzed by engine performance simulation to achieve very low fuel consumption and to meet the IMO NOx regulation on a medium speed diesel engine. Based on the performance simulation results the intake valve closing time for HYUNDAI HiMSEN 6H21/32 engine was set at 0deg.ABDC(After Bottom Dead Center). Also, the simulation results indicated that significant NOx reduction could be achieved with low reduction of fuel consumption. The performance simulation investigated the effect of compression ratio and turbocharger on fuel consumption and NOx concentration in combination with Miller cycle. The results indicated a significant reduction of fuel consumption with keeping NOx concentration. The results of performance simulation were compared with measured data to verify simulation results. The comparison showed the maximum error was 2.34% in exhaust temperature. Also, the experimental result showed that improvement in BSFC(Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) was 5.8g/kwh with keeping NOx level similar to simulation result.

In the present study, the effect of Z. jujuba Miller var. inermis Rehder extracts on the secretion of atopic dermatitis (AD)-related cytokines and hyaluronidase activity was investigated. We prepared four fractions, butylene glycol (JB), ethanol (JE), and water (JW), with Z. jujuba Miller var. inermis extracts. JW significantly reduced the secretion of interleukin-8 and JE reduced the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-alpha in human keratinocyte HaCaT cells. Also, hyaluronidase activity was measured by enzyme assay and the fractions inhibited the activity in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, the human dermal fibroblast, HDF-n cells were treated with the extracts and antioxidant activities were measured. The results showed that the extracts increased the free radical scavenging activity and the superoxide dismutase activity. Taken together, Z. jujuba Miller var. inermis extracts reduced the secretion of AD-related cytokines and inhibited the hyaluronidase. In addition, the extracts showed antioxidant activity.

Objectives This study aimed to analyze the Korean medical treatment methods for Miller-Fisher syndrome from January 01, 2000 to December 31, 2021. Methods Six online databases (KISS, SCIENCEON, DBpia, RISS, KMBASE, and KoreaMed) were searched for clinical studies related to Miller-Fisher syndrome. Results Thirteen case reports were selected out of the 85 studies, and a total of 13 cases were analyzed. There were five kinds of Korean medicine treatment that were used in these studies. Acupuncture and herbal medicine were the most used interventions. Conclusions Korean medical treatment is found to be effective for Miller-Fisher syndrome. Although several limits remain, we expect that further research will be conducted to provide a better level of evidence.

Objectives : This study is designed to investigate the effect of oriental medical therapy on a 10 year old male patient had atypical Miller-Fisher syndrome with ophthalmoplegia and ptosis. Methods : We experienced a case of atypical Miller-Fisher syndrome and treated with acupuncture treatment, electro-acupuncture therapy, herbal medicine. The effect of treatment were evaluated with pictures of palpebra and eyeball movement. Results : After oriental medical treatment, ophthalmoplegia and ptosis was improved. Conclusion : Acupuncture, electro-acupuncture therapy and herbal medication is promising treatment for atypical Miller-Fisher syndrome with ophthalmoplegia and ptosis.

Waardenburg syndrome (WS) type IV is characterized by pigmentary abnormalities, deafness and Hirschsprung's disease. This syndrome can be triggered by dysregulation of the SOX10 gene, which belongs to the SOX (SRY-related high-mobility group-box) family of genes. We discuss the first known case of a SOX10 frameshift mutation variant defined as c.895delC causing WS type IV without Hirschsprung's disease. This female patient of unrelated Kuwaiti parents, who tested negative for cystic fibrosis and Hirschsprung's disease, was born with meconium ileus and malrotation and had multiple surgical complications likely due to chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction. These complications included small intestinal necrosis requiring resection, development of a spontaneous fistula between the duodenum and jejunum after being left in discontinuity, and short gut syndrome. This case and previously reported cases demonstrate that SOX10 gene sequencing is a consideration in WS patients without aganglionosis but with intestinal dysfunction.

본 논문은 공통 소스 증폭기의 부유 커패시턴스에 밀러 정리를 적용할 때 출력 커패시턴스를 고려한 AC 이득을 사용하여 정확한 밀러 효과 모델을 도출하였다. 정확한 AC 이득을 사용하면 부유 커패시턴스는 입력과 출력 부분에 C와 병렬 RC 회로의 직렬연결로 변환된다. 제안한 밀러 효과 모델로 구성된 등가회로의 주파수 응답 특성은 변환 전 회로의 주파수 응답 특성과 일치해 제안한 모델의 정확성이 확인되었다. 제안한 밀러 효과 모델과 소자 값이 다소 복잡하지만 공통 소스 증폭기의 특성을 이용하여 간략화 시킬 수 있다. 또한 개방 회로 시정수 방법을 사용하면 증폭기의 3-dB 주파수도 쉽게 예측이 가능하며 예측된 3-dB 주파수는 공통 소스 증폭기의 주 극점 근사 방법과 같은 값을 가진다.

Objective : Miller-Fisher syndrome(MFS) is a type of acute inflammatory polyneuropathy, a disease characterized by abnormal muscle coordination, absence of tendon reflexes, and paralysis of the eye muscle. This study is to report a case of delayed facial palsy and dizziness in Miller-Fisher syndrome, treated with traditional Korean medicine. Methods : A 57-year-old male was diagnosed with Miller-Fisher syndrome accompanied by neurological symptoms such as right facial palsy and dizziness. He received traditional Korean medicine treatment such as acupuncture(including pharmacopuncture, needle embedding therapy, electroacupuncture) and herbal medicine for 17 days. Results : Each neurological symptoms were improved after traditional Korean medicine. In case of facial palsy, House Brackmann Grading System was reduced form grade 3 to grade 2, and Sunnybrook Scale was improved from 39 to 55. Also, other symptoms such as dizziness and headache was also improved. Conclusions : This case report suggests that traditional Korean medicine may have a role in treating neurological symptoms such as facial palsy and dizziness in patient diagnosed with Miller-Fisher syndrome.
