유전율제어에 의한 복합 Ferrite 전파흡수체의 성능향상 (Microwave Absorbing Characteristic Improvement by Permittivity Control of Ferrite Composite Microwave Absorber)

  • The material constants(the complex permeability and permittivity) of ferrite composite determine its microwave absorbing characteristics. Therefore, in order to improve the microwave absorbing characteristics, it is necessary to control the material constants of the ferrite composite. In this study, the method of improving microwave absorbing characteristics by control of permittivity of ferrite composite which has not satisfying matching condition in C-X band (4 GHz~12.4 GHz) was investigated. It was possible to control the permittivity by adjusting graphite loading ratio in the ferrite composite microwave absorber. It was also concluded that the control of permittivity of ferrite composite is effective method to improve the microwave absorbing characteristics.

  • According to the increase of occupation density of microwave frequency band on use microwave environments have been congested extensively. For shielding unnecessary electromagnetic wave of preventing the electromagnetic wave reflection a good conductor a low resistive material or a lossy material is mainly used. As a method to measure the absorbing characteristics of microwave absorber the fundamental microwave measuring method can be used. There is however a big problem in measuring errors since the wavelength of microwave is very short especially as in the case as microwave absorber for RADAR. Therefore this research aimed to a converting adaptor of 20mm${\Phi}$ coaxial tube from a Type-N connector to 20mm${\Phi}$ coaxial tube and to use it for designing microwave absorber and evaluating absorbing characteristics. Furthermore the measurements of absorbing characteristics and material constants have performed and reviewed which were carried out by using the coaxial tube in the short type and by using rectangular waveguide respectively As a result the validity of the measured values have been confirmed.

Two-Layered Microwave Absorber of Ferrite and Carbon Fiber Composite Substrate

  • Microwave absorbing properties of ferrite-epoxy composite (absorbing layer) attached on the carbon fiber polymer composite (reflective substrate) are analyzed on the basis of wave propagation theory. A modified equation for wave-impedance-matching at the front surface of absorbing layer including the effect of electrical properties of the quasi-conducting substrate is proposed. Based on this analysis, the frequency and layer dimension that produce zero-reflection can be estimated from the intrinsic material properties of the obsorbing layer and the substrate. It is demonstrated that the microwave reflectivity of carbon fiber composite has a strong influence on the microwave absorbance of front magnetic layer.

  • The effect of heat-treatment temperature on the microwave absorbing properties was investigated in Ni0.8Zn0.2Fe2O4 specimens. The composite specimens were prepared by modling and curing the mixture of prereacted ferrite powder and silicone rubber. The measurement of complex permeability and permittivity was made by the reflection/transmission method. The most sensitive material constants with heat-treatment temperature is the imaginary (loss) component of permeability. The higher the heat-treatment temperature, the greater the magnetic loss. The composite specimens with high magnetic loss exhibited superior microwave absorbing properties. The quantitative estimation of microwave absorbing properties were made by plotting the observed material constants on the calculated solution map of impedance-matching.

주기패턴 레이더 흡수 구조의 저속충격 후 흡수 성능 평가 (Evaluation of the Absorbing Performance of Radar-absorbing Structure with Periodic Pattern after the Low-velocity Impact)

  • 본 논문에서는 주기패턴 레이더 흡수 구조(RAS)에 다양한 손상을 모사하기 위한 저속충격시험을 수행하고 파손모드에 따른 전자기파 흡수 성능 특성 변화를 평가하였다. 주기패턴 레이더 흡수 구조는 주기패턴시트(PPS) 및 유리섬유강화플라스틱(GFRP)으로 구성되며 설계 및 제작된 구조는 X-band(8.2-12.4 GHz)에서 효과적으로 전자기파를 흡수하였다. 제작된 레이더 흡수 구조에 다양한 손상을 유도하기 위해 충격에너지에 따른 저속충격시험을 수행하였으며, 육안검사, 비파괴 검사 및 이미지 프로세싱을 이용하여 발생한 손상모드 확인 및 손상영역을 정량화하였다. 충격 전, 후 레이더 흡수 구조의 전자기파 흡수 성능은 자유공간 측정 시스템을 이용하여 평가하였다. 시험결과, 15 J의 낮은 충격에너지로 인해 발생한 크기가 작은 층간분리는 레이더 흡수 구조의 전자기파 흡수성능 변화에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 그러나 충격에너지를 40 J 또는 60 J로 증가시켜 상대적으로 넓은 영역의 섬유파손 또는 관통파손이 발생한 구조에서는 전자기파 흡수 성능이 크게 저하되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • A research for the optimal design of microwave absorbing material featuring for the broadband has been conducted to apply to warship. A multilayered structure was suggested using wave absorbing layers and resistance layer to perform high performance in broadband frequencies. For the optimization of the wave absorbing characteristics, the thickness and permittivities of the absorbing layers as well as the surface resistance of the resistant layer were determined using genetic algorithm. The data base of permittivities related to the density of the dielectric materials and loss materials was obtained by the experiments for the dielectric constants of the absorbing layers, furthermore, the results were numerically expressed and used for the optimization.

섬유강화 복합재료로 구성된 전파흡수구조재의 설계 및 특성 (Design and Properties of Microwave Absorbing Structures Composed of Fiber Reinforced Composites)

  • 본 논문은 전파흡수기능을 갖는 경량, 고강도 고분자 복합재료의 재료 설계 및 전각흡수특성에 관한 연구이다. 전송선로 이론을 도입하여 다층구조 전파흡수체의 반사감쇠량 계산에 필요한 이론식을 제시하고, 각 층의 재료정수 및 두께의 함수로 계산한 전파흡수능 결과에 근거하여 각 층의 재질에 적합한 복합재료를 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 가장 중요한 결과는 페라이트 충진재를 사용하지 않은 3층 구조 (표면층/중간층/배면층)의 전파흡수구조재를 설계하였다는 점이다. 표면층 재료로는 저유전율 특성의 유리섬유 복합재료를 사용하고, 중간층 및 배면층에는 유전상수 및 도전손실이 큰 탄소섬유 복합재료를 사용하여 4~12 GHz 주파수 범위에서 10 dB 이상의 전파흡수특성을 얻을 수 있었다. 이에 반하여 흡수층/반사층으로 구성되는 2층 구조의 전파흡수구조재에서는 흡수층에 페라이트 충진재의 사용이 필수적이었다. 반사층 재질로 탄소섬유 복합재료를 사용하고, 횹수층 유리섬유 복합재료에 페라이트 충진재를 약 40 wt% 첨가함으로써 4~12 GHz 주파수 범위에서 10 dB 이상의 전파흡수특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

철계 연자성 합금 분말을 함유한 고무 복합재의 전파흡수특성 (Microwave Absorbing Properties of Rubber Composites Containing Soft Magnetic Fe-Alloy Particles)

  • Magnetic and dielectric properties of rubber composites are controlled by using two kinds of high-permeability metal particles with different electrical conductivity (Sendust, Permalloy), and their effect on microwave absorbance has been investigated, focusing on the quasi-microwave frequency band (0.8-2 GHz). Noise absorbing sheets are composite materials of magnetic flake particles of high aspect ratio dispersed in polymer matrix with various filler amount of 80-90 wt.%. The frequency dispersion and magnitude of complex permeability is almost the same for Sendust and Permalloy composite specimens. However, the complex permittivity of the Permalloy composite (${{\varepsilon}_r}^{\prime}{\simeq}250$, ${{\varepsilon}_r}^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\simeq}50$) is much greater than that of Sendust composite (${{\varepsilon}_r}^{\prime}{\simeq}70$, ${{\varepsilon}_r}^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\simeq}0$). Due to the large dielectric permittivity of Permalloy composite, the absorbing band is shifted to lower frequency region. However, the investigation of impedance matching reveals that the magnetic permeability is still small to satisfy the zero-reflected condition at the quasi-microwave frequency band, resulting in a small microwave absorbance lower than 10 dB.

  • The foam concrete was fabricated by adding the foaming agent which composite ordinary Portland cement with plant and animal protein into cement paste, and the electromagnetic wave absorption properties were studied for the first time as well. The studies showed that the electromagnetic waves can be absorbed by multiple reflections and scattering within the porous material. Thickness and filling ratio have a great influence on the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties in 2-18 GHz of the foam concrete, the greater the thickness, the better the performance of absorption; filling ratio was about 52 vol.%, the absorbing properties achieved the best.

복합 ferroxplana 전파흡수체의 재료정수와 전파흡수 특성 (The Material Constants and Microwave Absorbing Characteristics of ferroxplana Composite Microwave Absorber )

  • 본 연구에서는 복합 ferroxplana 전파흠수체의 X-band에서의 재료정수와 전파흡수특성과의 상관관계를 규명하였다. Ferroxplana 분말과 지지재인 고무와의 함량비(F/R)가 증가함에 따라 ${\mu}_{r}'$은 감소하며, ${\mu}_{r}"$은 증가하였다. 전파흡수체의 두께가 증가함에 따라 최대반사감쇠량이 얻어지는 주파수 가 낮은쪽으로 이동하였으며, 흡수체의 두께가 2.6mm인 경우에는 대역폭이 우수하였고, 두께가 3.2mm인 경우에는 반사감쇠량이 우수하였다. 복합 ferroxplana 전파흡수체의 재료 정수를 광대역화에 요구되는 전파흡수체의 재료정수영역에 적용하여 전파흡수특성을 정량적으로 도출하였으며 이러한 재료 정수영역의 설정은 광대역 ferrite 전파흡수체의 설계지침으로 활용이 가능하다.
