  • This paper is concerned with the design of the optimal gains of the controller in the speed control system for the induction motor controlled by the microprocessor. The system is modelled with the discrete-time state equation, considering the time delay, for the facility of the optimization techniques. Introducing the conjugate gradient descent method, as the optimization technique, are derived the optimal gains, the gains which give the best transient characteristics. At the optimal gains obtained, the theoretcal transient responses are verified by experimental ones on a 5HP induction motor drive system.

  • In this paper, the authors introduce a high-speed microprocessor based on automatic vacuum capacitor switch with a modified digital filter design using distributed arithmetic. The automation trends particularly the automatic vacuum capacitor switch has helped ameliorate the power factor essentials and automatically triggered to close when the line current exceeds rated value. Microprocessor relays use digital filters to extract only the fundamental and attenuate harmonics. To provide optimum speed characteristics a distributed arithmetic based filter design in the microprocessor controller which not only enhances filtering speed but additionally enables lower power consumption at the cost of area has been introduced. The result is a unified description that describes a digital filter structure down to bit level.

  • This paper discusses the possibility of applying fuzzy logic controller in a microprocessor - based servomotor controller, such as servomotor position controller, which requires faster and more accurate response compared with other industrial processes. According to the fuzzy control rule made by tie analysis of error and error change, one Look-up table that contains various quantized step is made and appropriate initial error change is selected to the good responses.

  • In this study, We developed the microprocessor based controller for Auto Section Switch(ASS). This is installed at consumer's medium-high voltage(load capacity is below 4,000 kVA) switchgear. This function is cooperate with protection device of fault section and automatically dividing the section. And It is designed by Air putter type extinction structure and adopt the mechanism and breaking part module of existing Load Breaker Switch. In addition, We successfully conducted the operation test and checked main function of proto-type.

  • This paper deals with the control of the lateral motion of a mobile vehicle. A mobile vehicle using in this experiment is able to adapt many unmanned automatic driving system, for example, like a automated product transporting system. This vehicle is consist of the two servomotors. One is used to accelerate this vehicle and the another is used to change this lateral direction. An adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) is designed and applied to a experimental mobile vehicle in order to achieve the control of the lateral direction. An adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) is designed and applied to a experimental mobile vehicle in order to achieve the control of the lateral motion of the vehicle. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is investigate the possibility of applying adaptive fuzzy control algorithms to a microprocessor-based servomotor controller which requires faster and more accurate response compared with many other industrial processes. Fuzzy control rules are derived by modelling an expert's driving actions. Experiments are performed using a mobile vehicle with sensing units, a microprocessor and a host computer.

  • This paper is to develop jumping ring system with three sensor arrays and to control levitated ring using dynamic neural mode. Placing an aluminum ring on the core and switching on an AC source causes the ring to jump in the air due to induced currents. The educational system is composed of 40th optical sensor array, encode circuit, 89C51 microprocessor and control board. The control board consists of power IC, and phase controller. Real time process is present to obtain a height of levitated ring for three different sensor arrays. Based on the educational system and the proposed dynamic neural mode, the height of levitation of the ring is controlled by reference signals. This paper focuses on real system controls using the dynamic neural mode with on line learning algorithm.

  • The thermoelectric device was applied to a car seat to control the hot temperature in the summer and cold temperature in the winter. The characteristics of the device used to a car seat were analyzed. The air conditioning structure was designed to regulate the hot side of the thermoelectric device. To control the temperature of the car seat, a robust control algorithm based on the sliding mode control was applied, and a controller using one-chip microprocessor was developed. The performance of the proposed controller through experiments was shown.

  • Many industrial equipments use RS-232C interface. But Ethernet using CSMA/CD was widly spread recently. This interface is not compatible with RS-232C and requires PC based system. So In this Paper, We decribe a Internet control and monitoring system that control and watch plants without PC. We developed IP controller consisted of microprocessor and NIC and monitoring system using VC++ and SQL database. The protocol used this system is UDP/IP because it is applicable for real time system.

  • The majority of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems in today's nuclear power plants (NPPs) are based on analog technology. Thus, most existing I&C systems now face obsolescence problems. Existing NPPs have difficulty in repairing and replacing devices and boards during maintenance because manufacturers no longer produce the analog devices and boards used in the implemented I&C systems. Therefore, existing NPPs are replacing the obsolete analog I&C systems with advanced digital systems. New NPPs are also adopting digital I&C systems because the economic efficiencies and usability of the systems are higher than the analog I&C systems. Digital I&C systems are based on two technologies: a microprocessor based system in which software programs manage the required functions and a programmable logic device (PLD) based system in which programmable logic devices, such as field programmable gate arrays, manage the required functions. PLD based systems provide higher levels of performance compared with microprocessor based systems because PLD systems can process the data in parallel while microprocessor based systems process the data sequentially. In this research, a bistable trip logic in a reactor protection system (RPS) was developed using very high speed integrated circuits hardware description language (VHDL), which is a hardware description language used in electronic design to describe the behavior of the digital system. Functional verifications were also performed in order to verify that the bistable trip logic was designed correctly and satisfied the required specifications. For the functional verification, a random testing technique was adopted to generate test inputs for the bistable trip logic.

  • In this paper, we developed a multi-protocol controller based on SoC and embedded Linux and applied it to integrate with BAS in a unified TCP/IP socket communication. The multi-protocol controller integrates control networks of RS-485 and LonWorks devices to BAS. The system consists of three-tier architecture, such as a BAS, a multi-protocol converter, and control devices. By using UML, we modeled the system architecture. In order to show the feasibility of system architecture, it was applied to a small BAS system. The experimental results show that the multi-protocol controller using embedded Linux is flexible and effective way to develop a building control system.
