In molecular imaging studies via magnetic resonance imaging, in vivo cell tracking is an important issue for the observation of cell therapy or disease behavior. High resolution imaging and longitudinal study are necessary to track the cell movement. Since the field inhomogeneity extends over several voxels, we have performed the numerical analysis using the sub-voxel method dividing a voxel of MR image into several elements and the information about the field inhomogeneity distribution around the micro-beads. We imbedded ferrite-composite micro-beads with the size of $20-150{\mu}m$ in the subject substituted for cells to induce local field distortion. In the phantom imaging with the isotropic voxel size of $200{\mu}m^3$, we could confirm the feasibility of sub-voxel tracking in a 3.0 T MRI.
We performed the scientific analysis through composition analysis, micro-structure investigation, melting point and hardness test to the glass beads excavated at Naesanri in Gosung. Through this investigation, we could examine closely the characterization of raw materials and manufacture technique As a result of micro-structure investigation of glass beads, it appeared that the bubbles in glass beads have remained. Coloring agents of yellow glass bead was remained to the shape of inclusion. And on observing the transparent solid particle, we can know that these do not melt the raw materials because of low melting temperature of a crucible. The result of composition analysis of all glass beads using ICP, these were classified as $Na_2O_2$-$SiO_2$ type of glass. Also, these added to $AI_2O_3$ to improve the durability. The value of Vickers hardness of glass beads appeared the HV 490-530. The HV 1,440 of the transparent solid particle was much more than that of inner glass bead. This means that raw materials do not melt because of a low melting temperature of a crucible. The result of melting temperature analysis of glass beads using DSC/TGA, it was measured about $1,250^{\circ}C$.

This work was carried out to obtain sound welds and to select a most suitable binary metal joint among three different dissimilar binary metal combinations such as Zr-4/Ta, Mo/Ta and Ti/Ta(seal tube/sensor sheath) joints fur the instrumented nuclear fuel irradiation test. To do this, Taguchi experimental method was employed to optimize the experimental data. In addition, metallography, micro-focus x-ray radiography and hardness test were conducted to examine the welds. From the weld bead appearance, penetration depth and bead width as well as weld defects standpoint, Zr-4/Ta joint is suggested for the circumferential joining between a seal tube and a sensor sheath. The optimized welding parameters based on Zr-4/Ta joint are suggested as well.

Recently, the cell adhesion phenomenon that occurs in or between cells and other substances has become an important field of research in biology and biomedical engineering. Among the research, the foundational studies primarily experiment using biomedical materials (e.g. Glass Beads) attached to an AFM cantilever. For cell adhesion research, the mechanism where biomedical materials can be attached to the cantilever must be developed for this purpose; however, the mechanism remains an insufficient step. In this paper, a new stage where the Glass Bead can be attached to the cantilever is designed and fabricated;, the mm range movement in the stage is controlled using the stepping motor with a minimum displacement of $1{\mu}m$. The adhesive flow is also controlled using a PZT actuator. In addition, through the air suction, the cantilever holder can be fixed to the stage. The new stage including the bond inflows mechanism is evaluated and analyzed using theory and experiments.

This paper presents bead-based microbiocihps to detect and separate target proteins. Micro beads coated with capture proteins were introduced into a microchamber, and target proteins flowing across the chamber were bound and concentrated. The chip was connected with an external fluid system. Bead surfaces were double-coated with photo-cleavable linkers and capture proteins. The proteins bound on the beads were photo-separated under UV irradiation, and excited to be measured in fluorescence. $38{\sim}50{\mu}m$ sized polystyrene beads were used. SOGs(silicon-on-glass) were used to fabricate the microchip having glasses bonded on both sides. 100 ${\mu}m$ thick silicon channel was formed through silicon deep RIE process. The upper glass cover had holed through to have inlets and outlets fabricated by powder-blastings. In this study, biotin and streptavidin were used as capture proteins and detection proteins, respectively. The protein mixtures of streptavidin, HSA(human serum albumin) and ovalbumin were applied for selective detection test.

This paper describes fabrication of a micro cell counter integrated with an oxygen micropump and counting experiment with Sephadex G-25 beads ($70{\sim}100\;{\mu}m$). The pumping part consisted of a microheater, catalyst (manganese dioxide) enveloped with paraffin, hydrogen peroxide, and microchannel, and the counting part consisted of collimated light, a microwindow, and a phototransistor including an external circuit. The micropump generated oxygen gas by decomposing hydrogen peroxide with manganese dioxide, which was initiated by melting the paraffin with the microheater, and pumped beads in the microchannel. When the beads passed the microwindow, they shaded the collimated light and changed the illumination on the phototransistor, which caused the current variation in the circuit. The signals, according to the bead size, reached up to 22 mV with noise level of 2 mV during 50 seconds and the numbers of peaks were analyzed by magnitude.
An Inspection system, composed of sensor head and controller, is presented which is a 3-D laser vision system using principles of optical triangulation for weld quality and chamfer quality. The sensor head id composed of laser diode, micro CCD camera, filter and several optical components. This systems can be used in welding bead and undercut inspection and chamfer quality inspection as well. It is mech more convenient to use and the inspection time is to be greatly shortened compared with conventional inspection method. Furthermore, data saved in controller can be used for statistics afterwards. This system has been begin used in Koje Shipyard of Samsung Heavy Industries and the need is being increased.

The frictional characteristics of galvanized sheet steels(GA, EG, EGF, EGN) for automobiles were studied and compared with that of cold rolled sheet steel. A draw bead tester which simulates metal flow through a draw bead in stamping die face was used to measure coefficients of friction of galvanized sheet steels for four kinds of lubricants. Stamping formability of galvanized sheet steels for quarter outer panel was examined. The results show that stamping formability and friction characteristics were mainly influenced by the nature of zinc coating, surface roughness and micro hardness of coated layer, and proved to be very sensitive to the lubricant used.
The center floor is a part of underbody of cars. The assembling method is mostly a resistant spot welding. But the resistant spot welding has many demerits in productivity such as low welding speed, large spatter occurring, hard to verify the welding quality. The laser welding has many merits such as high welding speed, high static and dynamic weld strength. So the laser welding has been studied to substituted the resistant spot welding. Therefore, in this study, as a pre-evaluation stage for replacing the resistance spot welding with laser in production of automobile parts, the weldability of cold rolled and zinc coated steel sheets is studied and also evaluated the weld strength by the tensile shear test. And the shape of weld bead appearances and micro structure of the weld bead section is also evaluated.
