뇌 활용 성향과 수학 및 과학 학업성취도 간의 관계 분석 (The Relationship of Brain Dominance with Mathematics and Science Achievement)

  • 본 연구에서는 뇌 활용 성향과 수학 및 과학 학업성취도 간의 관계를 분석하고자 중학생 131명(남: 74, 여: 57)을 대상으로 뇌 활용 성향검사를 실시하고 수학 및 과학 과목의 성적을 조사하였다. 수학 성적과 과학 성적에 따라 집단을 구분하였을 때 수학 성적 상위집단과 과학 성적 상위집단 모두 좌하뇌를 주로 활용하는 학생의 수가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다(수학: 33.8%, 과학: 35.0%). 반면에, 수학 성적 하위집단과 과학 성적 하위집단은 우하뇌를 주로 활용하는 학생의 수가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다(수학: 38.7%, 과학: 36.1%). 수학 및 과학 성적 상위집단과 하위집단간에 뇌 활용 성향 점수의 차이를 분석한 결과 과학성적 상위집단과 하위집단 간에는 좌하뇌 점수(p<.05)에서 차이를 나타내었다. 상관도 분석결과 수학 성적과 과학 성적 모두 좌하뇌 점수(수학: r=.28, 과학: r=.26)에서 가장 높은 상관도를 보였으며 좌상뇌 점수(수학: r=.18, 과학: r=.24)와 두 번째로 높은 상관도를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 수학 및 과학 과목에서 우수한 성적을 얻는 것이 좌하뇌 및 좌상뇌의 활용 성향과 연관성이 있다는 것을 보여주는 것으로 수학 및 과학 과목의 평가방법의 개발 시 이러한 특성을 고려할 필요성이 있을 것이다.

제3차 수학.과학 성취도 국제 비교 반복연구(TIMSS-R) 과학 성취도 분석 (An Analysis of Science Achievement of The Third International Mathematics and Science Study-Repeat(TIMSS-R))

  • 본 연구는 제3차 국제 수학 과학 성취도 국제 비교 반복 연구(TIMSS-R)의 국제 결과에 대한 일차적 연구로서 첫째, 우리 나라 중학교 2학년 학생들의 과학 성취도의 국제적 수준을 알아보고, 둘째, 지난 4년 동안 세계 각국의 과학 성취도 변화를 파악하며, 셋째, 과학의 각 영역별 성취도의 국제적 수준을 비교 분석하며, 넷째, 남 여학생의 성취도의 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 우리 나라 중학교 2학년 학생의 과학 성취도는 평균 접수는 549 점으로서, 국제 평균 점수인 488점보다 유의미하게 높으며, 국제 5위를 차지하였다. 그러나, 1995년도 TIMSS 4학년 학생들의 성취도와 비교하여 보면 다소 떨어졌다고 볼 수 있다. 여학생들의 평균 점수가 1995년도에 비하여 많이 높아졌으나 여전히 성차가 국재 평균보다 크게 나타났으며, TIMSS와 TIMSS-R 두 결과 사이의 평균 정답율은 거의 비슷하였다.

강인성이 건강증진행위, 신체증상에 미치는 효과-여대생을 대상으로- (Hardiness as a Stress-resistance Resource and as a Determinant of Health -promoting Behavior: in a Sample of Nursing Students)

  • This study was undertaken in order to examine the relationship of hardiness and health-promoting behavior and the effects of hardiness on stress-related physical symptoms. The subjects were 104 female nursing students of one college in Kongju. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics, hardiness(25 items), health-promoting behavior(44 items), and physical symptoms(35 items), Analysis of data was done by use of mean, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression and a hierarchical multiple regression with an SAS program. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Significant correlations between health -promoting behavior and subscales of hardiness, that is, control(r=-.35, P<.00l), commitment(r= -.29, P<.0l), and challenge(r= -.23, p<.05) were found. 2) Control was the highest factor predicting health -promoting behavior. 3) Main and buffering effects of hardiness on current physical symptoms were not found.

Strain Identification and Comparative Analysis of Toxigenic Cyanobacteria Determined by PCR

  • Microcystis aeruginosa is common form of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) capable of producing toxic heptapeptide (microcystin) that cause illness or death. The comparison of molecular genetic method with the morphological characteristics of cyanobacteria was conducted. We have designed PCR primers (JJM98F, JJM1141R) for cyanobacterial 16S rRNA and phycocyanin intergenic spacer (PC-IGS) gene domain. To confirm the production of microcystins, PCR primers for the N-methyltransferase (NMT) domain of microcystin synthetase gene mcyA were designed using 21 cyanobacteria strains Most of isolated strains from the Nakdong River was classified as Microcystis aeruginosa and the similarities were $99\%$ with M. aeruginosa AF 139292. $38.1\%$ of isolated strains contained microcystin synthesis gene. NMT (N-methyltransferase) were not detected in isolated strain in several strains, which means non-toxic. However, the NMTs of the strains were detected during the cultivation.

중소병원 간호사의 전문직 자율성, 조직몰입 및 환자안전문화인식이 환자안전관리활동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Professional Autonomy, Organizational Commitment, and Perceived Patient Safety Culture on Patient Safety Management Activities of Nurses in Medium and Small-Sized Hospitals)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of professional autonomy, organizational commitment, and perceived patient safety culture on patient safety management activities of nurses in medium and small-sized hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed. Self-reported questionnaires were completed by 121 nurses with at least 3 months of working experience in medium and small-sized hospitals located in B city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, a one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and a multiple regression analysis. Results: Professional autonomy (r=.22, p=.016), organizational commitment (r=.34, p<.001), and perceived patient safety culture (r=.55, p<.001) had a statistically significant positive correlation with patient safety management activities. The factors that might affect patient safety management activities were professional autonomy (${\beta}=.23$, p=.003) and perceived patient safety culture (${\beta}=.55$, p<.001). The explanatory power of these factors for patient safety management activities was 33.5% (F=21.19, p<.001). Conclusions: The development of repetitive and continuous education programs is needed to improve a nurse's professional autonomy and perceived patient safety culture.

고등학생들의 성의식, 생식건강지식, 성 관련 경험에 대한 상관관계연구 (Relationship among Sexual Consciousness, Reproductive Health Knowledge and Sexual Experience in High School Students)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to look at the relationship among sexual consciousness, reproductive health knowledge and sexual experience. Method: the subjects were 276 high school students in 4 high schools in Gyonggi Province and Chungnam Province. The data was collected from August 1 to September 10, 2003. Result: The average age of the subjects is 16.5 years old, composed of male students, 154 persons(55.8%), and female students, 122 persons(44.2%). The mean scores of sexual consciousness, reproductive health knowledge and the mean level of sexual experience are 28.9, 10.5, and 1.7 respectively. There is a significant difference in sexual consciousness and sexual experience by sex (t=-3.22, p<.001; t=8.17, p<.001), the male students have more sexual experience than the female students, while the girls have a higher sexual consciousness than boys. Sexual consciousness has a negative relationship with reproductive health knowledge and sexual experiences(r=-0.13, p=0.04;r=-0.17, p=0.01). Sexual experience has a positive relationship to reproductive health knowledge(r=0.21, p<.001). Conclusion: We can conclude that sexual consciousness and reproductive health knowledge are weakly related to sexual experience. In addition we suggest developing an educational program to enhance sexual consciousness for high school students considering sexual differences.

직물의 자외선차단과 세포에 미치는 방호효과 (Protection Effects of Summer Fabrics from Cell Toxicity of UVB)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate a transmittance rate of UVB (Ultraviolet B) through summer fabrics and a protection rate of summer fabric from UVB. The subjects were randomly selected 159 fabrics from Korean common summer fabrics. The protection rates of 159 fabrics from UVB were measured by UVB lamp and UVB sensor, and 14 fabrics among these fabrics were selected for an assay of MTT(3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2, 5 -diphenyltetrazolium). The protection rate of fabrics from cell toxicity of UVB was measured by investigating the difference of the amount of cell toxic substance on between fabrics covered with and without HeLa cell The average protection rate of 159 fabrics from UVB was 95.08%. As result findings, three negative correlations were found between: 1) the transmittance rate of UVB and the amount of MTT on fabrics (y=0.0373+0.O0518 x, r=-0.9323, p<0.001); 2) the air permeability of fabrics and the amount of MTT (r: -0.79, p< 0.01); 3) the air permeability of fabrics and the protection rate of fabrics from UVB (r=0.89, p<0.01). However, there was no effect of thickness of fabrics on the protection rate from UVB and the amount of MTT.

  • This study was expand the use of Citrus madurensis (Citrofortunella microcarpa), which is a good source of skin whitening and antioxidants activation cosmetics. The goal was to provide cosmeceutical activity data about the extraction yield and total phenol of this calamondin orange by optimizing the focused high ultrasound(INEFU) and ultrasound extraction(UE) conditions. Under optimal extraction conditions, which consisted of 1800W for 45min and 500W for 45 min, 21.55 and 13.27 % (w/w) of the highest extractions yield and polyphenol contents were obtained. For the skin whitening activity, tyrosinase inhibitory activity was observed at 69.24 % in the INEFU extracts, which was ca. 18 % higher than that of the UE extracts (58.82 %). To reduce melanin production in Clone M-3 cells, 86.9 % melanin production was observed following the addition of control, WE(water extraction) relative to the control without a sample, and 81.2 and 78.9 % were found in the UE and INEFU conditions. The highest total phenol secretion was conclusively obtained under the optimal conditions and resulted in a significant improvement of the cosmetic activities of Citrus madurensis(Citrofortunella microcarpa) extracts.

간호대학생의 학업적 자기효능감, 공감능력과 의사소통능력이 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Academic Self-efficacy, Empathy and Communication Skills on Problem Solving Ability in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate factors affecting the problem solving ability of nursing students. Methods: The data in this study was collected through structured questionnaires from September 1st to October 30th, 2021. Study participants were 172 fourth grade nursing students at four departments of nursing located in B and K city. IBM SPSS WIN v 21.0. program with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression was used for data analysis. Results: The mean scores of academic self-efficacy was 3.88±051, empathy was 3.76±0.33, communication skills were 3.94±0.48, and problem solving ability was 3.70±0.40. There were significantly positive correlations between problem solving ability and academic self-efficacy (r=.45, p=<.001), empathy (r=.51, p=<.001), communication skills (r=.52, p=<.001), Factors affecting participants' problem solving ability were empathy (β=.31, p=<.001), and communication skills (β=.23, p=.006), which explained about 38.4% of the problem solving ability. Conclusion: In this study, it is necessary to develop curricular and non curricular nursing program that can strengthen empathy and good communication skills together when developing programs that increase problem solving ability.

Radical Scavenging Activity and Content of Cynarin (1,3-dicaffeoylquinic acid) in Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.)

  • The contents of total phenol and total flavonoid of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) were measured. The antioxidant activity of the artichoke was evaluated based on its potential as a scavenging the ABTS radical. These results showed the antioxidant activity of artichoke has a close relationship with the total flavonoid content. The compound showing antioxidant activity was isolated from the artichoke by repeated column chromatography and recrystallization. Based on the spectrometric studies, the compound was identified as 1,3-dicaffeoylquinic acid, known as cynarin. The content of cynarin from heads and leafs of the artichoke determined by $C_{18}$ reversed phase HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) coupled with photodiode array detector was 10.15 and 0.67 mg/g, respectively. This compound showed potent antioxidant activities against DPPH and ABTS radicals ($EC_{50}$ = 14.09 and 28.85 ${\mu}M$, respectively).
