Objective: Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a neurological complication following clipping surgery. However, the natural course and ideal approach for the treatment of clipping-related-CSDH (CR-CSDH) have not been clearly established. We aimed to investigate the course of CR-CSDH using chronological radiological findings. Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of 28 (3.8%) patients who developed CSDH among 736 patients who underwent surgical clipping using pterional approach for unruptured aneurysms at our institution between December 2010 and December 2018. Patients underwent follow-up CT scan 6-8 weeks after clipping surgery and decision to pursue surgical intervention rests upon the patient's symptom based on the Markwalder's grading scale (MGS) and numeric rating scale (NRS). Results: Of the 28 patients, 3 patients (10.7%) underwent surgery, while 25 (89.2%) showed spontaneous resolution of CR-CSDH. Eighteen patients (64.2%) had mild headache with MGS of 0-1. The mean maximum hematoma volume was 41.9±30.9 ml (5.8-135 ml), and 26 patients (92.8%) had homogeneous hematoma. The mean time to hematoma resolution was 126.7±52.9 days (46-228 days). Comparing group of CR-CSDH volume ≥43 ml or a midline shift ≥5 mm, the difference in presence of linear low-density area (p=0.002) and age (p=0.026) between the conservative and operative groups were found to be statistically significant. Conclusions: Most CR-CSDH cases spontaneously resolved within 4 months. Therefore, we suggest that close observation should be performed if patient's symptoms are mild and special radiologic findings are present, despite its relatively large volume and midline shifting.

This paper analyzes the capabilities of multi-agent system (MAS) technology for the optimal multi-microgrids (MMGs) operation in grid-connected mode. In this system, communication among microgrids (MGs) is realized by developing a modified contract net protocol (MCNP) based on agent communication language (ACL) messages. Moreover, a two-stage mathematical model is proposed based on mixed integer linear programming (MILP) for local optimization in each MG, and global optimization in energy management system.

The upper ionosphere of Mars has been explored by many spacecraft like Mariners, Mars, Viking, and recently by MGS and MEX. MARSIS (Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionospheric Sounding) aboard Mars Express Orbiter is operating from August 2005. MARSIS provides topside ionospheric traces, of which yield electron density profiles for altitudes above the primary ionospheric peak. A large amounts of data is useful for investigation of the Martian ionospheric environments under the changing conditions like solar activity, seasons, and solar zenith angle. We studied the characteristics of the Martian ionosphere through analysis of MARSIS data in the various conditions. We expect that our results contribute for understanding of the Martian ionospheric environment.
Hysterosalpingograms (H.S.G.) have been done for several decades to determine causative factors in female infertility. However, the H.S.G. only reverals uterine cavity and tubal patency or inpatency. The author prefers to find more details in regard to the status and condition of the female reproductive organs and their surrounding tissue as they pertain to infertility. H.S.G. in combination with laparoscopic examination reveals the following results. Preparation and method of performance of H.S.G. during laparoscopy in a healthy reproductive age women are as follows. When laparoscopy is not contraindicated, NPO is ordered with routine bowel preparation. Analgesics administered by injection prior to procedure are valium 10mgs and pethidine 50-100mgs. The radiographic procedure is the same as for any HSG technique. During laparoscopy a solution of 3 to 10 ccs. of 60% hypaque sodium is used. Fluroscopic scout films are obtained A-P and oblique views as well as a delayed check film. 1. Age distribution of primary and secondary infertility in this studies involving tubal factors was as follows: 20-29 age group showed 46% incidence and in the 30-39 age group, 50% incidence. Duration of infertility in this study group was the following: 1-2 years showed 26.7%, 3-5 years 53.8%, and 6-9 years 13.3%. 2. Indications of laparoscopic examination were as follows: Secondary infertility in 35% of the cases, obscure tubal occlusion on previous H.S.G. in 25%, unknown origin in 11.7%, and the remaining cases included pelvic pain, small masses, dysmenorrhea, and uterine anomaly. The laparoscopic examination showed clearly the reproductive organs and the surrounding tissues in the pelvic cavity. The abnormal tubal findings there revealed were tuberculous salpingitis and hydrosalpinx in 10% each, endometriosis and peritubabl adhesions in 6.7% each, biconuate uterus in 3.3%. The remaining 58.3% of the cases showed normal findings. Laparoscopic observation for possible myoma nodules, streak ovary, and peritubal adhesions was also done at this time. 3. Comparative tubal findings in combined H.S.G. and laparoscopic examination revealed the following. Bilateral tubal occlusion was present in 14% (7cases) on laparoscopic examination but on H.S.G. 38% (19 cases) were noted. However, tubal occlusion and peritubal adhesions were found in 26% (13 cases) upon laparoscopy and only 8% (4 cases) on H.S.G. examination alone. Normal pelvic findings were present in 60% (27 cases).

A study was made of the effects of genetic and environmental factors on ultrasonic estimates of carcass traits of Japanese Brown cows. The M. longissimus thoracis area (MLTA), Subcutaneous (SFT) and Inter Muscular (IMFT) Fat Thickness, Rib Thickness (RT) and Beef Marbling Score (BMS) were scanned at the $7^th$ rib by ultrasound. Significant differences between sires, raising place, birth year and season were found for all traits. The heritabilities estimates for sire or Maternal Grand Sire (MGS) on ultrasonic estimates of carcass traits ranged from 0.05~0.14. Genetic and phenotypic correlations among the ultrasonic estimates were positive (0.13~0.88 and 0.24~0.75). Raising place effects were significant for all traits and the differences were between $30.8{\sim}33.5cm^2$ for MLTA and 0.46~0.67 for BMS. Cows born in 1988 tended to have high MLTA, SFT, IMFT and RT but low BMS. Cows born in spring tended to have high MLTA. Cows born in winter or autumn tended to have high BMS. The interaction effects of birth year with birth season were significant for both. MLTA and BMS.
Glycerol has become an attractive carbon source in the biotechnology industry owing to its low price and reduced state. However, glycerol is rarely used as a carbon source in Saccharomyces cerevisiae because of its low utilization rate. In this study, we used glycerol as a main carbon source in S. cerevisiae to produce 1,2-propanediol. Metabolically engineered S. cerevisiae strains with overexpression of glycerol dissimilation pathway genes, including glycerol kinase (GUT1), glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GUT2), glycerol dehydrogenase (gdh), and a glycerol transporter gene (GUP1), showed increased glycerol utilization and growth rate. More significant improvement of glycerol utilization and growth rate was accomplished by introducing 1,2-propanediol pathway genes, mgs (methylglyoxal synthase) and gldA (glycerol dehydrogenase) from Escherichia coli. By engineering both glycerol dissimilation and 1,2-propanediol pathways, the glycerol utilization and growth rate were improved 141% and 77%, respectively, and a 2.19 g 1,2- propanediol/l titer was achieved in 1% (v/v) glycerolcontaining YEPD medium in engineered S. cerevisiae.
A sequence of 10 amino acids at the C-terminus region of methylglyoxal synthase from Escherichia coli (EMGS) provides an arginine, which plays a crucial role in forming a salt bridge with a proximal aspartate residue in the neighboring subunit, consequently transferring the allosteric signal between subunits. In order to verify the role of arginine, the gene encoding MGS from a thermophile species, Thermus sp. GH5 (TMGS) lacking this arginine was cloned with an additional 30 bp sequence at the 3'-end and then expressed in form of a fusion TMGS with a 10 residual segment at the C-terminus ($TMGS^+$). The resulting recombinant enzyme showed a significant increase in cooperativity towards phosphate, reflected by a change in the Hill coefficient (nH) from 1.5 to 1.99. Experiments including site directed mutagenesis for Asp-10 in TMGS and $TMGS^+$, two dimentional structural survey, fluorescence and irreversible thermoinactivation were carried out to confirm this pathway.
Recently, microgrid (MG) has been proposed as one of the most critical solutions for various energy problems. For the optimal and economic operation of MGs, it is very important to forecast the load profile. However, it is not easy to predict the load accurately since the load in a MG is small and highly variable. In this paper, we propose an artificial neural network (ANN) based method to predict the energy use in campus buildings in short-term time series from one hour up to one week. The proposed method analyzes and extracts the features from the historical data of load and temperature to generate the prediction of future energy consumption in the building based on sparsified K-means. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, historical load data in hourly resolution collected from the campus buildings were used. The experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms the conventional forecasting methods.
The concept of virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) is a valuable means for improving the frequency stability of microgrids (MGs). However, a great virtual inertia in a VSG's controller may cause power oscillation, thereby deteriorating system stability. In this study, a small-signal model of an MG with two paralleled VSGs is established, and a control strategy for maintaining a constant inertial time with an increasing active-frequency droop coefficient (m) is proposed on the basis of a root locus analysis. The power oscillation is suppressed by adjusting virtual synchronous reactance, damping coefficient, and load frequency coefficient under the same inertial time constant. In addition, the dynamic load distribution is sensitive to the controller parameters, especially under the parallel operation of VSGs with different capacities. Therefore, an active power increment method is introduced to improve the precision of active power sharing in dynamic response. Simulation and experimental is used to verify the theoretical analysis findings.

Advancements in automobile industries and the communication technologies caused VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork) to evolve to VANET-based clouds before its deployment. It is more likely that VANET clouds will replace the traditional VANET in the deployment phase. It is to be noted that an abrupt deployment is out of question because it would require mass of resources and money to do so; instead incremental deployment is more ideal. In this paper, we aim at the incremental deployment phase of VANET clouds and focus on the well-established public transport networks. Data aggregation is one of the essential aspects in traditional VANET and has been researched for quite long time. However the previously proposed schemes are still controversial. Keeping in mind the time and space prediction of public buses, we leverage these buses as potential aggregators and MG (Mobile Gateways) in VANET clouds. Buses gather cooperative whereabouts information from neighbors, aggregate that information, disseminate it to the neighbor MGs and also send it to the cloud for storage and for services exchange. In our proposed scheme, we believe that the dissemination will be effective and cover most of the urban area since at any instant of time; buses cover most part of the urban areas. Besides, the effective transmission range is higher due to tall buses.
