고창 연안에서 중하(Metapenaeus joyneri) 포획용 시험어구에 어획된 수산생물의 종조성 및 군집구조 (Species composition and community structure of aquatic organisms caught by the trial fishing gear for Metapenaeus joyneri in the coastal water of Gochang)

  • Although the abundance of Metapenaeus joyneri resources with high commercial value was recently confirmed in the outer waters of Gomso Bay, located between Buan-gun and Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Metapenaeus joyneri resources have not been efficiently utilized due to the absence of fishing gears and methods for a selective Metapenaeus joyneri capture. Therefore, in this study, we adopted shrimp dredge as a trial fishing gear for the Metapenaeus joyneri capture, and analyzed the species composition and cluster community structure of aquatic organisms caught by the shrimp dredge, from May to September 2021 at the coastal waters of Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do. During the experimental period, 28 types of marine species of 29,190 individuals and 250,136 g of total biomass were caught. Among them, the population of Metapenaeus joyneri, the target species, dominated by 80.7%, followed by Thrysa chefuensis with 7.1%, and Leiognathus nuchalis with 6.0%, confirming that the fishing ratio of Metapenaeus joyneri was the highest among all species.

한국산 중하(Metapenaeus joyneri)의 자원생태학적 특성치 및 자원량 (Population Parameters and Biomass of the Shiba Shrimp Metapenaeus joyneri in Korean Waters)

  • The ecological characteristics and stock biomass of the Shiba shrimp, Metapenaeus joyneri, in Korean waters were determined, using fishery data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) and available length frequency data. The instantaneous coefficient of total mortality (Z) of M. joyneri was estimated to be 4.191year, and the annual survival rate (S) was 0.015. The estimated instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) for recent years was calculated to be 1.94/year. The age at first capture of M. joyneri was 0.71 years. Based on these parameters, the annual biomass of the M. joyneri stock was estimated using a biomass-based cohort analysis and data on the annual catch in weight at age for 1993-2004 in Korean waters. During the study period, the biomass of the shrimp peaked in 1994 at about 9,082 metric tons. Subsequently, it decreased to 500 metric tons in 1998.

소해면적법에 의한 중하(Metapenaeus joyneri) 자원량 추정 시 대지속력과 대수속력 사용에 따른 자원량 차이 (Difference in biomasses depending on apllication of speed over the ground and speed through the water during biomass estimation of Metapenaeus joyneri via swept area methods)

  • The towing distance, which is speed over the ground, and the water flow quantity, which is speed through the water, were used when estimating the amount of Metapenaeus joyneri resources that rose to the surface at night using the swept area method in order to compare and analyze the difference. It was conducted using a shrimp dredge, trial fishing gear for catching Metapenaeus joyneri. Catch during the entire survey period was 188.9 kg. Monthly catch ranged from 3.1 to 109.2 kg, highest in June and lowest in September. The swept volume calculated using the speed over the ground was about 13% higher than using the speed through the water. Metapenaeus joyneri resources estimated using the towing distance ranged from 320.1 to 14,649.8 kg. Resources estimated using the water flow quantity ranged from 278.5 to 12,886.3 kg. Therefore, the amount of Metapenaeus joyneri resources estimated using the speed over the ground was about 14% higher than the method using the speed through the water, indicating that the amount of resources was overestimated.

  • We describe two penaeoid shrimp, Hymenopenaeus equalis and Metapenaeus ensis, that were collected from an area northwest of Jeju Island and are new to Korean waters. Hymenopenaeus equalis is the first Korean representative of this genus. A brief distributional and morphological description of the two species is provided.

한국 남해안 새우류 군집의 계절변이 (Seasonal Variation in Shrimp Communities in the Southern Coast of Korea)

  • We examined seasonal variation In the abundance and species composition of shrimp communities in Doam Bay and around Naro-do, Korea. Samples were collected monthly from March 2001 to February 2002 (Doam Bay) and from December 2000 to November 2001 (Naro-do) usinga beam trawl. A total of 19 shrimp species representing eight families were collected from Doam Bay. The dominant species were Exopalaemon carinicauda, Trachysalambria curvirostris, Parapenaeopsis tenella and Crangon hakodatei, which accounted for 92.6% of individuals and 92.8% of biomass. In the Naro-do area, a total of 18 shrimp species representing eight families were collected. The dominant species were C. hakodatei and P. tenella, which accounted for 78.6% of individuals. Exopalaemon carinicauda, T. curvirostris, P. tenella, C. hakodatei and Metapenaeus joyneri accounted for 89.6% of biomass. In each season, the pattern of species appearances differed in the two areas.

소리도 주변 해역 새우류의 종조성과 계절변동 (Species Composition and Seasonal Change of Shrimp Assemblage in the Coastal Waters of Sorido, Korea)

  • 소리도 주변해역에서 서식하는 새우류의 종조성과 계절변동을 파악하기 위하여 2000년 6월부터 2001년 5월까지 매월 1회씩 사리기간중 간조시에 채집하였다. 조사기간 동안 채집된 새우는 6과 16종이었으며, 그라비새우, Ρ. gravieri, 꽃새우, Τ. curvirostris, 마루자주새우, C. hakodatei, 중하, Μ. joyneri등이 연중 우점하였다. 월별 출현종수는 8월, 10월, 11월에 14종으로 가장 많이 출현하였으며, 하계인 6월과 7월에 각각 8, 10종으로 가장 적은 종이 출현하였다. 종다양도 지수는 0.14∼0.82의 범위를 나타내었으며, 5∼7월에는 비교적 낮은 값을 보였는데, 이는 균등도 지수에서도 마찬가지 결과였으며, 반면 9∼12월에는 비교적 높은 종다양도 지수 값을 보였다. 본 연구 해역에서 채집된 새우류는 출현 양상에 따라 주거종과 계절종, 일시방문종으로 나눌 수 있었다.

Comparison of live shrimp bait catch efficiency in single line fishery

  • On the southern coast of South Korea, dark-banded rockfish, sea bass, and red seabream are caught by single-line fishing. In particular, red seabream and sea bass are caught in the Jeollanam-do region using gear with attached fishing hooks, such as longline and single-line gear, with live shrimp as bait. The objective of this study was to compare the catch efficiency of two types of live shrimp (naturally grown Shiba shrimp [Metapenaeus joyneri] and cultured whiteleg shrimp [Litopenaeus vannamei]) used as bait. The investigation included interviews, on-board surveys, and water tank experiments. Interviews were conducted with relevant parties to determine the preference for live shrimp as bait, and the results showed a greater preference for cultured whiteleg shrimp. Further, an on-board survey was conducted to compare catch efficiency between these two types of live shrimp bait for single-line fishing. The on-board investigations were conducted once or twice a month between June and October. In total, the amounts of fish caught using naturally grown Shiba shrimp and cultured whiteleg shrimp were 56 and 52, respectively. Of these, the numbers of sea bass, the primary target fish species, caught using naturally grown Shiba shrimp and cultured whiteleg shrimp were 43 and 40, respectively. Thus, the results showed that there was almost no difference in the number of fish caught based on the bait used. However, according to a water tank experiment, cultured whiteleg shrimp survived longer than naturally grown Shiba shrimp.

가열 및 건조방법이 새우의 지방질 함량과 중성지방질 조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Cooking and Drying Methods on the Lipid Content and Neutral Lipid Composition of Shrimp)

  • 가열처리 및 건조방법이 새우의 지방질 함량과 중성지방질에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 생새우의 총지방질 함량은 건물기준으로 6.0%였으며, 가열 및 건조방법에 따라 총지방질의 함량은 유의적인 변화가 없었다. 생새우의 중성, 당 및 인지방질의 함량비는 각각 36.8:21.5:41.7% 이었고 동결건조한 것은 열풍건조한 것보다 중성시방질의 함량이 유의적으로 많은 반면에 당 및 인지방질의 함량은 적었다. 중성지방질의 주요성불은 triglyceride, free sterol, free fatty acid 및 esterified sterol이었으며, 동결건조한 것은 열풍건조한 것보다 triglyceride 함량은 유의적으로 많았고 free fatty acid 함량은 적었는데, 이는 열풍건조중 triglyceride가 분해된 것으로 생각되었다. 생새우의 총지방질의 구성 주요지방산은 palmitoleic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid 및 docosahexaenoic acid이었고, 중성지방질의 구성 주요 지방산은 palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid 및 docasahexaenoic acid이었다.

Anatomical Proportions and Chemical and Amino Acid Composition of Common Shrimp Species in Central Vietnam

  • This investigation was conducted to evaluate the shrimp flesh (SF) and shrimp by-product (SB) of the most abundant shrimp species (Metapenaeus affinis, Penaeus semisulcatus and Penaeus monodon) caught in Central Vietnam, with the emphasis on yield, gross and amino acid (AA) composition and effect of heat treatment. The results showed that the mean edible SF and SB (head and shells with tail) yields of the three shrimp species averaged 56.7 and 43.3%, respectively, of the total wet body weight, with the M. affinis generating the highest by-product yield (45.7%) and P. semisulcatus (40.6%) the lowest. Significant differences in dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and ash content were found between SF and SB. The DM content of SF (21.5%) was lower than of SB (24.9%) and the ash content (on a DM basis) of the SB in all shrimp species was more than three times that of the SF (p<0.05), whereas the CP content was almost twice as high in the SF as compared with the SB (p<0.05). The SB of the three species contained (on a DM basis) between 44.0 and 49.8% CP (p<0.05) and between 13.5 and 18.1% chitin (p<0.05). The Ca content of SB differed also between species (p<0.05). On average, the sum of AA in SB corresponded to 89.3% of the CP and essential AA accounted for about 50% of the total AA. The most abundant AA were arginine, aspartic and glutamic acids, which accounted for 33% of the total AA. Minor, but significant differences in some AA concentrations of SB between species were observed (p<0.05). With the exception of the DM and ether extract content, all other chemical constituents of entire shrimp, SF and SB were not significantly affected by heat treatment (p>0.05).

새우의 품질에 미치는 가열 및 건조방법의 영향 (Effects of Cooking and Drying Methods on the Quality of Shrimp)

  • 가열처리 및 건조방법이 새우의 품질에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 생새우의 콜레스테롤 함량은 건물 100g당 81.4mg이었으며, 동결 건조한 것은 열풍건조한 것보다 그의 함량이 $5{\sim}28%$가 적었다. 새우의 신선도와 관계가 있는 volatile basic nitrogen과 trimethylamine의 함량은 열풍건조한 것이 동결건조한 것보다 이들의 함량이 높았고 세균수는 동결건조한 것이 열풍건조한 것보다 낮았다. 생새우를 가열하거나 건조하면 L값이 크게 상승하여 새우의 색깔이 밝아졌는데 동결건조한 것은 열풍건조한 것보다 그 폭이 더 컸고 색차는 L값과 반대현상을 나타냈다. 생새우의 무기질 중에는 칼슘 함량이 가장 많았고 그 다음은 칼륨, 나트륨이었으며, 이들 무기질 성분은 전체 무기질 성분의 96%를 차지하였으며 가열 및 건조방법에 따라 차이가 없었다.
